“If there was any remaining doubt that prose is the new poetry, or that prose-poetry is the new sublime, along comes Corey Zeller’s intimate, winningly melancholiac collection You and Other Pieces, which will wring your heart out, over and over and over. Allow this book to treat you to all the secrets about yourself that you would never otherwise come to know.”

Oh dear. Intentionally obscure and impenetrable I read every page but could tell you nothing about any of these...’stories’? Even as poetry (and one of the blurbs purports this is that), I still wouldn’t’ve understood any of it. It is the most confounded and lost I’ve ever felt reading my native language. Frustrating.

“Laughing. A kind of laugh like every person you never had to know but did. You knew them. Knew them like the sound of someone moving furniture around the apartment above you. Simply through movement. Whole lives lived in movement and elsewhere.” 0 likes
