*I received a free copy from the author for an honest review*

I am a sucker for differently abled protagonists and this book is based on a heroine, Starla who has a deformed hand caused by an accident. Another reason I picked up this book was because I was taking a break from paranormal and fantasy genres and wanted a contemporary read. Am I glad I did! Because this book is not just the usual teen book but much more than that.

The blurb mislead me a bit because it totally talks about Starla's chan

To Be Honest by T.C. Booth, is an inspirational story to me. I like that it is a Teen/Young Adult, Clean story. Something that can be hard to find. I loved that it focused on Starla, and the fact that she looks different because of an accident. High school can be hard enough without looking different. I loved that she has a strong family and she is a smart girl. The fact that her parents have to the move family when she is 17 years old to a new high school away from her friends, is hard, takes c ...more

This was the first book I have read by T.C Booth and I read it quite by accident when it showed up in by copy of another book I pre-ordered.

I really enjoyed it how ever and kept reading because I wanted to find out what happened to Starla and if relationships changed once she moved two hours away and started at a new school.
Starla is quite shy at the beginning part of this is due to a deformity in one of her hands due to an accident. She slowly grows in confidence in her new school, she makes n

To Be Honest only took me a day and a half to read because I couldn't put it down because I need to find out what happened to Starla. Starla and her family moves and this turns her world upside down; I thought that this would be a classic story of girl moves, girl gets new life. But to tell the truth it was more than that. At the start of the book I wasn’t sure of Starla’s or how she would take the move but once I got into the book the more she change. I like how Starla isn’t just a teen with ‘t ...more

To Be Honest is a YA fiction book about a girl who has a deformed hand following an accident. Around her, she has built a comfort zone that she doesn't leave, not for anything. Then she hears the devastating news that her and her family are moving to a new town, and her safe world is ripped wide open. Not only does Starla have to change and adapt to survive, but she also has to find the courage to be honest. This is the second book of author T. C. Booth that I've read, and once again I am impres ...more

This is a book that had me smiling from start to finish. The character development of Star was natural and believable. The writing was excellent, and the story line was straightforward. "To Be Honest" I loved it!
