Ronald P. Culberson shares a collection of amusing stories that show the power of humor to cope with the day to day challenges in life. The combination of wit and wisdom make for a fun and insightful reading experience.
This thoughts here (in Is Your Glass Laugh Full?) are humorously stated - some anecdotes caused serious laughter. The purpose of the book isn't only to make you laugh, but also to impart wisdom, in that humor is a great way to gain perspective and get through difficult, stressful emotional situations. Each chapter begins with a worthy quote, [if only my memory was so good, I'd memorize each one]. For example, "Life does not cease to be funny when people die just as it does not cease to be serious when people laugh." -- G.B. Shaw, playwright
Mr. Culberson was a speaker for a Gilchrist Hospice employee event. He was a dynamic speaker and this was the book I bought for my youngest son. He says at the end of the book that the purpose is to help "...you understand the critical role humor plays in our lives." Humor is underrated.
Entertaining fast read, but the take-away for life is not so big as I had hoped for it to be. Maybe that just is because I do love humor and try to make a laugh out of most situations already :)
