Short story of approximately 8,000 words and is a standalone book from the series. Introducing Miranda Moore, a divorced woman, who moves to a seaside town called Delphin Beach, opens a mystical store, and buys the blue cottage next door to her friend. Something strange is happening though in the blue cottage. Is it something paranormal or just plain wicked? Can the ghost of her mother help her to get to the bottom of this mystery?
Miranda must conquer doubts in herself and trust her abilities to discover the answers before anyone else gets hurt.
It’s a short story, so it all went a bit fast. That can work, I have read shorts that were very well developed. But this one, while nice and cute, wasn’t particularly well developed nor particularly well written. Punctuation marks weren’t always used in a correct manner. Example “We could sit and talk by the wharf; I suppose, it's lovely there.” Should be “We could sit and talk by the wharf, I suppose; it's lovely there.” And the characters stayed just a bit flat. I wasn’t pulled into the story. And there really only was one suspect so it was sooo obvious! I do believe that this would have been very pleasant had it been longer, more developed. It got really suspenseful, but that also went too fast. But the promise is there. The bones of a good story are there. Not quite there yet, but I did enjoy it well enough. Cats and ghosts are my favorites, so that was nice.
Grace Geyer writes with so much energy giving a clear picture of her caracters lieveing nothing to trundle over accept the mystery giving a delightful short mystery of quality entertainment.
I enjoyed this short story. It's nice to have something easy but interesting to read. I liked the characters, especially Erica, a good friend to the end. I would recommend to anyone.
Great short story that combines a bit of suspense with paranormal mysticism. Miranda Moore owns a shop that sells mystical items, but there is a lot more to Miranda than meets the eye. The author does a great job telling a whole interesting story in a short space and that's what makes this short story one worth having.
