Tequila Key is just like any other small town and I'm just like any other small town psychic. Scratch that. Tequila Key is a world onto itself and some people might think that I am one crayon short of the box.

And, if we're being totally honest, Tequila Key is just like any other s

For Goodreads....
I'm genuinely confused why this has so many good reviews. I don't think I've read anything so sloppily put together before. The murder mystery takes forever to start as we wallow in her "perfect life". I think it doesn't start until after 25% in, but the reason I finished this is because the book is so short. This is big on trying to be emotional, but mostly it's ridiculous.

The worst things that come to mind:

The relaxed surfer dude, who's a romance option, goes all jealous alph

I read this one in one sitting. Mostly because it was short. This is another one of those 3 star reviews that should not throw you off a book. It isn't great - but it is enjoyable. I enjoyed the relationship between Althea and Luna and the characters in this story. I did, however, feel that there was very little character development. There is a mystery - but I pretty much solved it. ;) Early. There is also a love triangle. Pointless love triangle. Or is that redundant? Which didn't happen until ...more

I was expecting more of a mystery but got it as dressing for a love triangle amidst the perfect independent woman's life by the beach. It was quick enough to warrant reaching the end, although the characters were mostly a sucession of clichés and the murder mystery itself was as deep as a grownup version of Nancy Drew. Got it as a freebie; wouldn't know if I'd feel cheated if I paid a few dollars for it. All in all, didn't feel like a waste of time.

Enjoyed this one, another that has been on my TBR for awhile now. Always enjoy Florida Keys settings, ocean settings in general, and MCs with unusual occupations (in this case she had two such). She had a couple of awesome best friends, as well, and a cool love interest (I have absolutely no problem with romance in a cozy). Have definite plans to read the second one.

I kind of liked this... I kind of didn't. I like the idea behind the story but I really didn't enjoy the characters.

I will read on probably because they are free books but ehhhh.. I was hoping for a Stephanie Plum type book.. and it sort of was but it also wasn't.

I enjoyed this book very much. A cozy mixed with magic. This book has fun, adventure, good relationships and likeable characters. The mystery is good and involves the usual suspects for drugs, money, etc. What I most enjoyed was the combination of mystic aspects of the book (psychic, white witch and voodoo) with the adventure of diving and underwater photography. I will be reading more from this series.

A Nook 'Free Friday'. Combining a murder mystery, love triangle, and witchcraft it was a harmless/mindless read. I honestly don't know how people can rate this a 5-star. Of those, I ask, how do you rate truly great literature?!

Interesting read. It's always more difficult to prove innocence than guilt, especially when the powerful are setting you up to take the blame for their misconduct.
Blend the occult, spirituality, sex, and drugs and get excitement!

An engaging romance/mystery involving a "white witch" and a psychic who team up tp solve a mystery that the police are determined to pin on one of them.

This book is a mystery with a little romance, comedy, and magic thrown in; it’s a light hearted book that’s easy to read. The main character and her best friend are a practicing psychic and a white witch, respectively. They are both best friends with a young gay man who owns a successful bar that brings a lot of tourists into town. Another young man, who runs a tour boat and dive service, frequently doing rescue work for the Coast Guard, is carrying a torch for the main character, and is none to ...more

Cosy mysteries… sighs. I keep trying.
This one has a psychic, a witch, a voodoo priestess, a love triangle, diving, underwater photography, a gay BFF and rather a lot of alcohol … all stuffed in a cocktail shaker and mixed together. And no, it doesn’t work.
The heroine, Althea is a psychic who can read minds and she runs a shop in a small town with her friend Luna who is a white witch.
Okay… she goes diving with her friend Trace and they find a body. [note: the author is clearly a diver. I have rea

One Tequila, Althea Rose Mystery, Book #1
by Tricia O'Malley

A physic, a white witch, and a voodoo priestess -- those are just three of the interesting characters that populate Tricia O'Malley's Tequila Key in southern Florida. The main character, Althea Rose, is the owner and physic for the tarot shop. Her best friend and white witch, Luna, shares the shop space with her, selling crystals and oils and other such items. Ms. Elva, the town's only voodoo priestess, works her garden and her craft, an

I know I picked this up for free from a mystery site (thanks to the author for making it free) and I knew it was a ‘love kissed’ one but sadly in this case that meant love triangle, a very tiring one which was the only down side to the novel: a large unresolved triangle but I’m getting ahead of myself.

Althea Rose is a psychic whose mom is a well known psychic. She runs a shop, the Luna Rose, with her best friend, Luna, a white witch. They’re also good friends with, Beau, a gay bartender who want

A successful psychic who is also a successful underwater photographer shares a business with her best friend who is a white witch. She also has the guidance of a voodoo priestess and her other best friend just in case she needs a little more mojo! Sounds like the unexpected should be impossible to sneak up on her, right? Ummm-wrong! Althea (Thea) can see trouble but can't always pinpoint the exact problem. When she does a reading for a man in town doing business on the key, she draws the death c ...more

I have to preface my review with the statement that I do not care for fantasy nor romance; I am a fan of mysteries. Althea Rose is a psychic in business with her best friend Luna, a white witch. Althea memorizes a spell which allows her to break the ties on her hands, on her friend's hands, and breaks the lock on the building in which they are captive. She is able to "communicate" with others by visualizing and "hearing " them. A friend forsees danger and prepares her a gris-gris. The same frien ...more

I liked the idea of psychic protagonist (Althea) and a witch (Luna) as her best friend and business partner. That they run a profitable business in a small town is made plausible by the fact that Althea’s mother is a famous, highly regarded psychic. Both characters are likeable, intelligent, and resourceful. Althea’s insecurities about her appearance and her relationships add depth to her character, and the romantic component involving two potential suitors will appeal readers who enjoy romance ...more

This book had everything one could really ask for a book of its type (slightly paranormal mystery romance). I should have liked it. The writing wasn't bad. The ending was satisfactory. There was just something about the story that did not appeal to me. I usually like to read about people living lives that I wish I had, but I think that this girl just had TOO much. Psychic talent and artistic talent; eccentric parents and small, eccentric town; close friends...I just don't know. I think it was al ...more

This story portrays the perfect & happy life of Althea Rose in a town called Tequila Keys. She loves to go diving & is into underwater photography.

Like any other small town, everyone knows everyone. What I liked best about this is the highlight on close relationships. It's heartwarming, especially the friendship between Althea, her best friend Luna & a bar owner, Beau. There is a love triangle too, which was boring. Two perfect guys available at the same time?. Really?. Talk about sh

Let me say this is a well-written book, no glaring typos or format errors. Set in Florida in the Keys, featuring ocean, sand and sunshine.

I chose to read this book because I wanted something light-hearted with little need to focus my thoughts which is exactly what I got. If is perhaps the closest to a fantasy, comic or a graphic novel I have seen, think DC Comics and their superheroes.. The men are all handsome with fantastic bodies and women are drawn to them. The women are beautiful but discer

In a town named Tequila all the residents experience life in the slow lane until someone is murdered. It seems the last person who saw him alive was Luna, known as a white or good witch. Add to the recipe her best friend and business partner, Althea Rose, a psychic and underwater photographer. So when Althea makes her dive with longtime friend Trace she photographs more than just water creature. A lively cozy mystery to find the killer, free Luna from her murder arrest and a debate about love an ...more

I also don't know why this book has so many good reviews. This was the most awkward, rough book I've read in a while. I only made it about 20% into the book before I had to give up. I couldn't take any more of the main character or the writing. The romance options are thrown at you so hard and fast that you have no idea what is going on. And somehow our main character is both anxious and insecure while also having an absolutely perfect life. Yea, sorry, not buying it. I didn't even get to the my ...more

I'm a little ambivalent about this book. It was very Stephanie Plum-ish, but in a less developed way. I liked the concept of the main characters and the location, but the book was short so it was a shallow dive into character development. I got this book for free and I don't think it was a complete waste of time reading it, but I'm not rushing out to get the complete series. I would consider reading the second book if it were on sale or fairly cheap. I could see bingeing the series during the su ...more

I really wish I had enjoyed One Tequila by Tricia O'Malley. There were good things, but mostly it was a predictable plot that was far too concerned with how good looking the new business investor was. I didn't really feel like the characters had any depth what so ever. The final "twist" in the plot read like the author just wanted to finish up the book and named someone the murder. It didn't really fit as far as I was concerned.

Absolutely wonderful!

Set on a small key this suspenseful and thrilling murder mystery is complex and exciting being solved by a white witch, a psychic, a restauranteer, and a voo doo practitioner with a little romance running through the plot makes for great reading. Not all is dark and desperate with a circle of friends that make for a fun and interesting plot. A great read. Ms. O' Malley is going to be one of my favorite writers! A must read. You'll never regret it. You'll be addicted!

A great introduction to Tequila Key where the locals include a white witch, a powerful seer and a powerful voodoo queen. Althea Rose is the seer who finds herself aught in a love triangle as she seeks to help the white witch, Luna, who has been falsely accused of murder. A murder mystery with a psychic. It should have been easy, but hijinks ensue. There is also a love triangle, and a friend framed for murder. Althea seemed to have it all together, but she ignored some obvious clues and kept forgetting or ignoring the helpful tools she had access to. All in all it was a good read. We'll written with engaging characters and a decent plot. I would recommend this to anyone who likes paranormal or mystery books. Fast read. I'll probably read the next one, too
A Good Start To This Cozy Mystery Series.

Tricia O'Malley is a new-to-me author but I liked her writing style, the pace her plot developed and the subtle mix of magic and the paranormal that she added to her world.

I enjoyed this book; it was good. One Tequila has proved to have many of the elements that I look for in an engaging story; a good mystery thriller, humour, a great leading lady, a good set of supporting characters and it even had some romance and a sprinkling of magic and the supernatu

A shot of magick

Althea Rose is a psychic and tarot reader who runs a shop with her best friend and white witch, Luna. They live and work in a small town on the Florida coast. All is quiet until Althea and her friend Trace find a body weighted by an anchor during a dive. The last person to see the victim alive is Luna. Luna is arrested for murder so it is up to Althea and friends to try to solve the mystery. A quick read laced with a lot of humor and a little magick.
