'The Girl's Guide to Getting Hitched' is Ms Hart's third novel, but first one by her I've read. However, I followed the buzz on twitter and I admit I had high expectations for this book, despite not being familiar with Ms Hart's writing style. But no matter how high my expectations for this book were, it totally exceeded them. I ended up finishing this book in two sittings, sad to

4.5 out of 5. I absolutely loved this novel. Such a heartwarming read. And the cover is gorgeous! The story starts off with Julia, a wedding planner who is busy organizing the weddings for the other three main characters, Debbie, Aimee, and Gill each going through separate issues as their nuptial's draw near. I was hooked from the beginning taking a like to the women instantly though I gotta admit I wish Aimee would of stood up for herself a bit more. This was my first Sophie Hart novel and I ca ...more

THIS-WAS-FANTASTIC!

I absolutely adored The Girl's Guide to Getting Hitched by Sophie Hart, so much so that I found myself dragging out the very last few pages just so I could make this utterly charming story last as long as I possibly could. The first novel I read by Sophie Hart was back in 2014, The Beginner's Guide to the Birds and the Bees, which I also enjoyed, but I loved Sophie's latest novel SO-MUCH-MORE.

The author first intro

If you have read Sophie Hart's previous book The Girls Guide to Falling in Love, then you will find Julia to be a slightly familiar character, but if you haven't don't worry as this is a fully standalone book. However if you have it is fantastic to catch up with a previous character, and there are also references to all the other main characters in the first book, so you get that feeling of knowing what is going on in their lives.

Julia, is a new mum to Jack, and although she wasn't planning on

Four amazing ladies - Julia, Aimee, Gill and Debbie - are so similar yet so different in many way. Their individual stories had me laughing, near tears and yelling at my reader!

Julia is married with a precious little boy and a husband that loves her more than anything in this world but she is worried that her marriage isn't what it used to be. Does Nick love her? Yes. Does Nick feel a bond with their son? She is worried that he may not be bonding the way she believes he should and it is making

Rule number one keep calm and marry on. I thought this book was pretty good. In this story you follow the life of 3 woman who are getting ready to get married and their wedding planner. Julia is an events planner who has just had a new baby, who has been given the opportunity to plan three weddings. But she is finding it hard to juggle everything and to have time for her friends, husband, family and work. Aimee is set to marry her fiancé Jon who is a massive bell end and who has the mother in la ...more

I haven’t read any of Sophie Hart’s previous books but the synopsis sounded okay for this one and I was looking forward to reading it. Julia Crawford is a new Mum, who has the opportunity to go back to work. As an Events Planner, when the opportunity comes along for her to plan Aimee’s wedding she decides to go for it. I didn’t warm to Julia as quick as the other characters such as Aimee, Gill and Debbie. Although I say that, I did find that as the story progressed I found myself liking her more ...more

I loved this novel! I started reading it a few days before my boyfriend's brother was getting married. I thought the title was appropriate to get me in the wedding mood!

This novel was entertaining and insightful on different perspectives for different relationships where the people involved were getting ready to saying 'I Do' or had recently said 'I Do'. One relationship was on the early side, one around the 'normal expected' age, and one as a second marriage in mid-adulthood.

I enjoyed the way t

This was the first book I've read by Sophie Hart and I absolutely loved it. It's a warm hearted, feel good book with good characters. I loved reading about Julia, Debs , Aimee and Gill. Julia has just gone back to work as a wedding planner after having her baby son. Debs is preparing for her wedding and wants to change something before she walks down the aisle. Aimee is also planning her wedding but is getting a lot of u wanted help from someone. Gill has a hectic life with 5 kids and is busy al ...more

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I sometimes read general fiction books that I ADORE and other times I pick one up and remember why I don't read more of them.

This wasn't bad or unenjoyable, but it did take me longer to read than most books of this length and I was never just...swept up in it like you can get in some books. (Any genre or category, some books just yank you right into whate

Julie is a wedding planner and a new mother. As she goes back to work, she plans three very different weddings, each with their own opportunities.

Gill's wedding is planned to bring two families together smoothly.
Aimee's mother-in-law wants to be the deciding voice in her wedding, but Aimee is not going for it.
Debbie would like to be slimmer for her wedding.

This book is a fun read which covers several topics such as family, dreams and friends. This book is a wonderful view into the life of a wed

This book was beautiful. It was so hard to put down. I just couldn't get enough of the easy flow and beauty of how detailed it became in areas surrounding weddings. I loved the quotes at the top of each chapter from Well known people and found these quite amusing. They brought a witty edge to the story. This has definitely made me want to become a wedding planner. again. If I'm not attending a wedding I'm most likely reading about one so these kind of books are my favourite. I have had the pleasure of reading all Sophie Hart's previous books. Sophie's writing style flaw so easily and effortlessly and that is why I always get the feeling of warmth and happiness emanating from the pages of her books.

The Girls Guide to Getting Hitched has a four very strong female characters, Julia, Aimee, Debbie and Gill. The opening chapter of the book starts with Julia, a young mum who runs her own event planing business but is currently on maternity leave. If you read Sophie's prev

Julia Crawford loves being a mum to her new son Jack, but she has to admit she's also missing her job as an events planner. So, when she's provided with the sudden opportunity to organise three different weddings, she takes it with both hands. Shy Aimee has the mother-in-law from hell who freaks out about every single wedding detail; Debbie is determined to lose a lot of weight before her wedding day, b

This story was about One wedding planner and three different styles of weddings.
Julia is a party planner who was taking a sabbatical looking after her baby Jack. She receives an email from Valerie (Mother-in-Law from hell) seeking a wedding planner for her son Jonathan. She wasn't sure if she wanted to go back soon. But her husband Nick was supporting the idea of getting back to work.
That's how everything starts. Julia meets Debbie at the Zomba class who works at

I have to admit that reading the first chapter of this book I was a tiny bit worried as I thought, is it going to be another of those books where the mum feels down because she's not working after having a baby and then magically everything she ever wanted falls into her lap. But as I read even a few more pages I realised heck no, this book definitely had a whole lot more in store for me than that!

I absolutely loved to hate the characters of Valerie and Jon, what an absolute monster in law Valer

This is not my usual genre but I wanted something light to read after a few days reading more heavier books and, coupled with life being a bit hectic, thought I'd have a slower paced, easier to read book for a change.
Well, that wasn't exactly what I got. This book is definitely a whole lot more substantial than the cover may suggest. Basically, we follow four women. Julia is a wedding planner, the other three, Aimee, Debbie and Gill, are brides-to-be. Aimee is struggling with trying to get a wor

Sophie Hart first came to my attention when I read her debut novel – The Naughty Girl’s Book Club; I loved it, my mum loved it, her friends loved it and so on and whilst I am aware that Sophie Hart has since released another novel and a novella I have been a bad fan and not read them yet. However, I have just read her latest offering, The Girls Guide to Getting Hitched and I was reminded of the reasons why I loved her writing. She can write a damn good story.

Admittedly, when I told my boyfriend

This novel really made me smile. Not the first book of Sophie Hart’s I’ve read, I was expecting to be immediately immersed in the story and I wasn’t disappointed. The characters are always realistic and I find them easy to relate to which is automatically a nice thing.

Julie is a fairly typical new mum I would suspect- completely besotted but also overwhelmed about the time management required with a new baby- the lack of one’s old life bringing issues up with

MY REVIEW: Overall this book was cute and I enjoyed the characters. I think it's definitely a good pick for those who don't mind a slower moving book, nor books that don't have an in-depth plot to them, and is good for fans of chick-lit UK fiction. The book fell a bit short of my expectations but overall was a decent read. Let's take a closer look:

What I liked: I did enjoy getting to know the female characters. The book centered around a wedding planner and obviously her relationship, but then a

I loved this book. It has real characters with real problems you can relate to. The main idea is not that original, but it is really well written, amusing and interesting. It captures and holds your attention from the beginning to the end. Not to mention that I for one definitely love this sort of books where a group of different women are connected by some common interest like scrapbooking, reading or knitting just to mention a few. Along with the weddings of Aimee and Gill, Julia hopes to make a difference for these women.
