I have to say, I think this book is breathtakingly good, wonderfully atmospheric and descriptive. It is written in the prose of the 1860s, which quickly envelops you and transports you back to a dangerous time to live, just after the American civil war. I think Tom Tanner is a great character and he is certainly a Wounded Soldier! The story is emotional and at times grimly realistic as Tom rediscovers himself after the horrors of the war. I was gripped both by the writing style and the plot afte ...more

People read books for many reasons — to learn, to be entertained, to find comfort, to find one’s self, to escape. It is rare that one comes across a book that satisfies so many aspects of reading, but when that book is found, it is to be treasured, to be cherished. Such is the case with master storyteller Diane Munier’s epic work, My Wounded Solder: Part One: Fight for Glory.

The first in a two part series, My Wounded Soldier: Part One: Fight for Glory is set in the American Midwest, just after

“You say hero. No. Not a devil. Not a hero. Not God. Just a man. Addie helped me see it. Just a man. But a man who has to carry some things he’s learned to understand” (p. 11)

And so continues Tom Tanner’s redemptive journey in the concluding novel of Diane Munier’s masterful saga, My Wounded Soldier: Book Two: Fight for Love.

Now married to his beloved Addie, and having taken her two children as his, Tom sets out to build a life worthy of the family blessed upon him. But the mantle of husband an

Review:

I love history almost as much as I love Cowboys. And my most favorite period in history to study, read about and learn about is the American Civil War. Well you can believe I was totally doing the 'Teacher Oooh Oooh Me!' when it came down to signing up for the opportunity to read and review this book and thankfully I was given the opportunity. I'd never read any of Diane's work before but as the subject matter really appealed, I was sure I would get on fine with the author. That was a maj

Men like Tom Tanner don't exist any more, and I haven't found a writer who can paint a picture with such clarity in my head like Diane Munier. Let me start by saying that I absolutely cringe when I write a review. I suck at writing my grocery list, but I understand how important it is to writers to receive them. So I do my part and try my best. Please bare with my mistakes while I try to convey how truly amazing I think this book is. Now, when I right a review for someone like Diane, who I think ...more

Diane gifted this ebook to me for an honest review and I am thrilled with it. I love historical settings in stories, and she pulls you right in making you feel you are there living aside the main characters. Pulling emotions from you that you wouldn't expect to have. I've followed the author from the early days of her career and she's had me hooked on her style from the get-go.

The character Tom Tanner is one you will fall in love with early on. The author has a way to take you back in time and

My very favorite story from this author. Hooked from the very first chapter to the last. The title is so fitting for Tom who fought for glory in the civil war and now has a fight for love. I couldn't put this down when I started reading it. I never thought I'd read something to do with the civil war times but when you realize almost immediately that Tom gets attracted to the newly widowed woman neighbor; you know you're in for a good love story instead. Highly recommended.

Amazing story of the trials of life, love and family!

Wow such an amazing love story! This is what true family means! I have to say your stories are so much like Rosanne Bittners( where yours are about the settlers and hers about the Indians)! I fell in love with this family! On my way to buy book 2!! I sure hope you have more to come in this series because I love a book I can get lost in!

To say that I "enjoyed" this book is an insult. I loved it so much. I have to think about my review so I'll be back in a while and post it.

Living comfortably in the heart of America with the people I love. I live an extroverted life, but I'm a genuine introvert. An urban kid, I spent much of my youth running in various neighborhood establishments. There I met many colorful characters and I learned to love them and be fascinated by them. My love of story comes from them. I learned to sit on a bar stool or a kitchen chair or in a pew a ...more
