Rae has a secret — one she can’t allow any wolf pack to discover. But with an old enemy hot on her heels, she has no option but to trust Zack, the man from the wrong side of the tracks. Taking off on the back of Zack's Harley seems like good idea at first, but when she lowers her defenses for the captivating coyote shifter, she might just be risking it all.

The new she-wolf in town may be strictly off-limits, but Zack just can’t keep away. When the thrill of the chase gets his blood pumping in more ways than one, he’s ready to overstep every boundary and break every rule. Destiny says she’s his—but the pack’s ruling alpha says she belongs to another.

There’s more than meets the eye on Twin Moon Ranch, home to a pack of shapeshifting wolves willing to battle for life and love.

USA Today and Amazon best-selling author Anna Lowe loves putting the "hero" back into heroine and letting location ignite a passionate romance. She likes a heroine who is independent, intelligent, and imperfect — a woman who's doing just fine on her own. But give the heroine a good man (not to mention a chance to overcome her own inhibitions) and she'll never turn down the chance for adventure, nor shy away from danger.

On any given weekend, you might find her hiking in the mountains or hunched over her laptop, working on her latest story. Either way, the day will end with a chunk of dark chocolate and a good read.

Excellent book, I started reading this very late like more of the wee hours of the morning. I ended up quite tired, but I couldn't stop reading, till I finished this book. It kept my attention completely. It was romantic, and the characters were strong, and relatable. I think Rae was a bit quick to anger at Sac, it seemed she didn't even give him a chance to talk to her or defend himself. I was annoyed with her, she didn't even stick around to find out the truth lol. A good book can get your emotions going, that's for sure. I would recommend this book it was really quite good.

~ 5 Desert Hunt Stars ~

**Read this as part of the Masters Of The Hunt: Fated and Forbidden Box Set**

Desert Hunt is the prequel to The Wolves of Twin Moon Ranch series by Anna Lowe. Wither you read the series in order or out, you will fall in love with the characters and world.

Fabulous! Amazing! Another winner! ALowe is an amazing writer. This novella has everything I have come to love from ALowe. Amazing characters, great plot and world, conflict, and romance. I was pulled in from begging to end. We are introduced to some amazing characters that are well defined and easy to connect with. I became so involved that I felt for each and everyone wither they where the secondary characters or our leads. Rae and Zack complemented each other. I enjoyed the lead up to Rae’s secret and learning about Zack. The plot is enjoyable and the world is interesting. I also liked seeing the characters in their earlier period. It foreshadowing to what is to come for some.

Desert Hunt is full of suspense, action, and romance. I highly recommending picking up The Wolves of Twin Moon Ranch series. Each book is unique and brilliant written. I can’t wait for more from ALowe.

Rae finally got her transfer to a new pack, but can this one be the place where she can settle down?
Zack returns after a tracking mission to find the most lovely scent all over the place. When the scent turns out to be his Alpha´s intended mate, he doesn´t know what to do. Can he really resist his inner Wolf and Coyote?
Quick read, shifters, action and smutty fluff in a great combo.

This is my first time reading this Series and I must say I am already hooked! Author Anna Lowe has such a creative bend to her writing that truly brings this book to life. I enjoyed how she combined Historical Ledgends into her current day book.
Zack , a mix of Wolf and Coyote is considered worthless, but he has hidden strengths that he keeps in control because of duty. Rae, a Wolf in her on right has her own secrets that she hides as she runs and makes her way as sh searches for the perfect pack. But does the “Perfect” Pack exhist anymore? Tyranny, Brutes, Alpha Beasts, are there any true, honest wolves anymore? Are feels she has to keep running, even when her own Wolf tries to tell her otherwise. Zack feels worthless and is treated that way by the Alpha at every turn, but when he runs across Rae’s scent, he cannot get her out of his mind. But when her past comes up to haunt her, everything goes to hell in a hand basket. Grab yourself a copy and meet the members of the Twin Moon Ranch and the trials and tribulations they live. Well Done🌺

Awesome first book

Book 0.5 Desert Hunt in Twin Moon Ranch series by Anna Lowe.
This is a first read by this author for me and I’ve got to say I’m not disappointed.
Zach is a wolf/coyote shifter and alpha but not alpha of his pack. He’s happy leaving the responsibility up to his old unhappy leader Old Tyrone and his son Ty who is Zach’s bff.
Rae is a very strong willed wolf shifter being bullied and suppressed in her old pack. That is until the Twin Moon Pack offer to take her in.
Instantly Zach knows Rae his mate but with having a dark past with violent crazy ex’s she want to keep very clear but unfortunately Rae and Zach’s shifter sides have made their mines up.
I love that this is insta love but the human sides try to dominate with excuses but eventually wolf/coyotes get there way.
Rae is totally badass and really stands her grown and puts up a good fight when needed, I also love that she doesn’t expect Zach to rescue or save her but it’s lovely when he does but doesn’t think of her as weak or in need of protection.
Really looking forward to more in series especially as I got the next three books on audible in box set for a great price.
Great story and live HEA.

Sometimes the hunt is all about love and life

I began reading this series with Desert Wolf that is a few books into the series. I already knew I enjoyed the author’s writing style and the world she has built. This story is the prequel to The Wolves of Twin Moon Ranch series. Desert Hunt introduces us to Zack, the best friend of Ty from Desert Wolf and Desert Moon who is the heir apparent to the Twin Moon’s Pack. This story is about Zack and his fated mate. The problem?... Ty’s dad, the current alpha has decided the new wolf, Rae is to be Ty’s mate. Too bad someone forgot to ask Rae because this is one she wolf that isn’t going to be bullied into mating the wrong wolf. Not that Ty is jumping at the opportunity either. He’s too busy pining after some other she wolf.

Rae has been on the go, bustled from one pack to another over the years. She has been pursued by all too many self-important wolves intent on mating her. Rae is also keeping secrets. She isn’t like all the other wolves. She thinks no one knows her secret. Unfortunately, that’s no longer the case. Rae’s secret could make her the prized possession of the right pack and the Twin Moon’s alpha is thinking he’s going to cash in. Fate has other ideas when Rae is put in the crosshairs of her fated mate, Zack. Their mating may be destined but that doesn’t mean there won’t be a few rocky patches to get over on the road to happiness. A pursuing bad news alpha with grandiose plans from her past, the current alpha and his machinations along with a few misconceptions about Zack’s motives may set Rae to running. But will love bring her back?

Zack is a coyote/wolf hybrid and the best tracker in the pack. He’s Ty’s best friend and the proverbial loner. Being a hybrid has ostracized him somewhat. There is no love lost between him and his alpha. At the same time, Zack is one of the most powerful wolves in the pack. He might bow his head in submission but appearances and true submission are two different things. He may have any number of she wolves to share his bed but a mate for him is another matter altogether. That is until he meets Rae. He may have been set to guard her, but who is going to guard her from him? This is one she wolf, he is powerless to deny and he’ll find he’ll do anything for the mate of his heart, fight, protect, even set her free.

I found Desert Hunt to be a compelling romance. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. It’s a fairly short read that I was able to finish in one sitting. Thank goodness because I really didn’t want to put it down. I like utilizing the read aloud/text to speech functionality in some readers. I listened to this one while on a longer drive recently. When an author’s writing is exemplary, it really stands out in audio. Desert Hunt was excellent. The story flowed perfectly. If you are looking for a paranormal shifter series to get into then check out The Twin Moon Ranch series. Desert Hunt is a great place to start.

I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.

Desert Hunt
WOLVES OF TWIN MOON RANCH
By Anna Lowe
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Received this ARC to read and to give my honest opinion in a review.
This is a SPECTACULAR paranormal romance with a lot of Thrills! The storyline is
a compelling, exciting page turner that you can't help but to keep reading until you finish the book. The characters are captivating, engaging and written very well. Even the secondary characters are made to make this a awesome adventure. The dialogue is sexy and witty. I love reading Anna she is clever, imaginative and gives her readers a awesome adventure with amazing romance. After reading this book, I want to read every book Ms. Lowe has written! I absolutely adore and love reading this book. This book can be read as a standalone book, but it a start of a series that involves the Desert Moon pack. Ms Lowe story of a wolf shifter has been given a all time high with this storyline about a “mixed breed” and adding in a long-thought folklore in the world of the wolf shifter, and bringing them together as fate decided.

Zack is a half coyote and half wolf hybrid shifter and one of the best tracker in his pack. He’s a loner but Ty is his best friend and there isn't much love between him and his alpha, because Zack happen to be one of the most powerful wolves in the pack. He bows his head in submission by appearances but in truth he doesn't really submit to anyone. Zack doesn't have a problem with having any number of she wolves to share his bed, but as with all shifters having a mate is another matter. Zack is set to guard Rae, but the problem is who will protect her from him. Rae is a she wolf he can hardly resist and he will do anything for the wolf of his heart even if he has to set her free.
Rae has been running from one pack to another over for some years now. Rae is being pursued by some very self-important wolves that wants to mate with her. Rae has secrets that she feels she can't share and she thinks no one knows her secret it’s no longer the case, because her secret makes her a prized possession for any pack. But the Alpha of Twin Moon knows and thinks he can capitalize on the information. But there is always Fate steps in and it never go like you think will so when Rae comes face to face with Zack her fated mate, Of course there be a some slippery black ice on their way to HEA.

I found Desert Hunt to be a compelling romance. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. I read it in one sitting, because I couldn’t put it down. I like utilizing the read aloud/text to speech functionality in some readers. I love to listened while l read and let me tell you it's a awesome story and in audio I must say OMG! Desert Hunt is magnificent. The story is paced and flows so well. If you are in need of a fantastic paranormal shifter series to read this is the best one ( The Twin Moon Ranch series).

If you enjoy reading shifter romance with suspense and lots of action this is a great choice for your TBR list. Highly I recommend this book and the series.

If you believe in the world of paranormal romance, the possibilities are endless and fascinating!

Desert Hunt is the prequel to the Wolves of Twin Moon Ranch series and one hell of an introduction. I don't read a ton of werewolf romance novels as the main romances options are usually insufferably 'alpha' and there are not enough rolls of tissue in the world capable of cleaning up the mess their pissing contests make. But Desert Hunt was a lot of fun to read and I look forward to checking out the rest of the series.

The story opens with Rae looking for a new place to live so she can have the freedom she desires and the anonymity that she craves. She hopes to find that with the Twin Moon pack but instead finds herself drawn to Zack and must deal with what that attraction means. I love Rae's role in the shifter world, it's not the typical Beta or Omega type role and it really brings a really unique idea to the story. I love how it requires her to be a leader and to maintain a level of power that their world doesn't usually extend towards women. Zack is a breath of fresh air when it comes to alpha males. He's secure enough in his own position and strength that he doesn't feel threatened by a woman asserting her independence. The fact that he is a coyote-wolf hybrid is pretty interesting as well, as we get three sides to him instead of the normal human/wolf aspect. I will admit that I sort of hate the whole "destined mate" thing, it feels sort like a shortcut that allows people to skip over the whole "getting to know you thing"...but I do think Desert Moon balanced this out with both Rae and Zack's reluctance to just give into what they were feeling. Rae may be open to a physical relationship but it takes time for her to know Zack.

I am curious as to what the rest of the series will be like, and I do figure that Rae and Zack will play some sort of important role but the pack's dynamic gets shaken up at the end of this and I do want to see how it pans out.

DESERT HUNT-DANGER, SECRETS & SIZZLING ROMANCE!

RAE: she-wolf, gorgeous, sexy, sassy, powerful; Rae has a special power that makes her vulnerable to be kidnapped by any pack for that power. There is a lunatic werewolf who wants to mate her and is searching for her. ZACK: tracker for the pack, is sultry, charismatic, protective, has an alpha personality, and is half-coyote-half-wolf. Zack is probably the most altruistic shifter you'll ever meet, always thinking of others but never himself, he also believes he is unworthy of mate because of his half-breed status. Rae comes to work for the Ranch hoping she is safe from harm. Ty orders Zack to make sure the male wolves stay away from her.

FANTASTIC well-written heart melting read that takes you on a spine-chilling adventure that is action-packed with gripping suspense, horrific danger, and vivid scene descriptions that leave you breathless. The banter between Zack's wolf's half and his coyote's half is absolutely hysterical. Rae and Zack are definitely a force to be reckoned with and their romance is filled with unwavering devotion and sizzling passion. The conclusion is absolutely brilliant. I adored this story a most entertaining read. If you treasure shifter romance this is certainly a terrific book for your library. {I was gifted this book and this is my honest review.) In the world of shifter romance, the possibilities are endless and always fascinating. Without reservations, I recommend this book.

I love The Wolves of Twin Moon Ranch series and was happy to find out a prequel was being released that would share Zack and Rae's story. They're a part of the other books and certain points made me very curious about their path to a HEA.

To save herself Rae escaped one pack and ended up in another that followed the old-fashioned ways and she definitely didn't like how things were ran there. She finally gets her chance to transfer to another pack, Twin Moon, but she isn't told the full story. Rae doesn't know it, but plans are made for her that will change her life forever. Thankfully, the other person these plans impact doesn't agree with them.

Then we have Zack. He's always felt less than and kept himself somewhat separated emotionally from the others. Until Rae. They both feel the pull and don't fully grasp what it means until it's almost too late. What happens? What are the plans? Why is Rae so unique? I highly recommend this prequel and series. I can't wait to see who finds love next.

I received a free copy from Anna Lowe, in exchange for an honest review.

I love Anna's "Twin Moon Ranch" series, so I was easily pulled into 'Desert Hunt'. Once I started I couldn't stop. 'Desert Hunt' predates the first book in the series 'Desert Moon' telling the story of how Rae came to Twin Moon Ranch, how a half wolf, half coyote shifter finds something only heard in stories & how Alpha's plans are easliy overturned when mates find one-another. Please if you haven't read any of the other "Twin Moon Ranch" series, go grab your copy of each book in the series, read them in order, you wont be disappointed by them. I can't wait for more of this series.

This is such a great series and this is a look into how Rae and Zach got together.

Rae has a secret that makes her very valuable to the wolfs, especially the Alpha of Twin Moon Ranch, who wants his son Ty to mate with her. Rae's heart only belongs to one man only, but she won't listen to her wolf.

Zach is the best tracker for the pack, after saving his life mate from a horrible future, he has lost her by letting her go. But has he really lost her?

Read and find out what happens in this very suspensefull story.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

I read this as part of the Masters of the Hunt Box Set

This started out pretty good but by the middle I was just skimming to get to the end. Rae was not very likable and neither was Zack for that matter. They were both really whiny, judgmental and quick to make assumptions. I don't mind characters having flaws but these two really deserved each other and not in the awesome romantic way.

Good potential, with an h who doesn't trust easily, because she has special skills. The H also had skills, he's confident about himself. He's a quiet man, a beta hero, and while I liked their story, I wasn't sold on their wishy washy commitment at first. It improved towards the end. Her special skills are strange but suited the context and setting.

Rae is a werewolf with a secret. She doesn’t trust most people, especially alpha males, and she hates living under the horrible alpha of her current pack. When she finally receives a long-awaited transfer to the Twin Moon Ranch in Arizona, she doesn’t know what to expect but finds a kinship to the earth while avoiding the other wolves at her new home. But she can’t avoid Zach, a mix bred, and her inner wolf knows he’s her mate. A mate she never wanted.
Half coyote and half wolf, Zach knows what it’s like to be an outcast. His two animals constantly nag at Zach and argue with each other in his head, but they’re in agreement when they sniff out Rae. She’s their mate. His best friend, Ty, is the reigning alpha’s son and set to inherit the pack someday. He’s just as lonely as Zach, probably more so, but he’s obedient when it comes to his father. The cruel alpha, Old Tyrone, demands that no one touches the new she-wolf, but Zach can’t help the pull between him and Rae.
Rae and Zach are very likeable characters. The reader feels their hesitancy, loneliness, and alienation, and the strength they both find to love and trust the other.
Though I really liked this shifter story, the fight scene with the bad guy at the end was a little predictable. Rae’s actions over a perceived betrayal irked me, but I understand she needed personal time to fight her own demons before she gave herself fully to her destined mate.
My favorite scene is Zach and Ty’s “play” fight. I love a good bromance, and these two sexy shifters have that down pat.
This is a prequel novella to the Wolves of Twin Moon Ranch series, and I’m definitely interested in reading the other books.

Rae is sent from one adopted wolf pack in Nevada to another in Arizona. The old alphas have worked out this deal between them and she goes… she doesn’t get a lot of choice. But the alpha’s son Ty just doesn’t smell right to her and she learns later from his friend Zack that Ty scented his mate one night in the desert but then lost her. He’s still clinging to that scent and hope.
Zack is pretty unusual for a shifter.
Not your type, part of his brain rushed to throw out. Definitely not your type.
Just my type, his wolf growled.
Exactly my type, his coyote agreed.
That’s what he got for being a mixed-breed: two voices in his head, even if he only ever shifted into the same canine body—big as a wolf with the dun-colored coat and pointed muzzle of a coyote. But the voices were always separate inside, and the wolf and coyote parts of his brain rarely agreed.
We agree on her, both chuckled at the same time.(p. 8).

So he’s both wolf, coyote and human. He’s also a born alpha. And that’s a problem in a pack where he isn’t the heir.
But Rae’s issues are just beginning, especially with men who think the old ways are the best. Unless, Rae remembers an even older way?
***
This is a world of marking for mates, higher ranked wolves can speak into the minds of others, territory is everything, and power comes with authority.

>Book review – Desert Hunt

>I am an independent reviewer. This book is in the Wolves of Twin Moon Ranch series and ends in an HEA. Rae is a wolf shifter misfit with a secret. She is hiding from an abusive alpha at the clan at the Twin Moon ranch. Zack is an alpha, content to submit for the moment to the alpha at Twin Moon in order to track and live in peace. His best friend, Ty is the heir to the alpha, but is distracted by searching for his mate. Ty’s story is teased as he can smell her, but never find her.

> When Zack and Rae meet they both recognize the other as their mate. Rae is uneasy with a mate, as she feels her freedom will be curtailed. Zack fights his feelings because he realizes she is meant for an unwilling Ty. The banter with the humans and their animal partners was fun to listen too. The thrill of the hunt was described in exciting detail, especially when Rae realizes how much a help Zack is.

>The alpha Zack comes out when Rae is threatened. This story is exciting, romantic, yet heartbreaking. The story is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this story 4 stars. I felt the story ended too abruptly. I wanted to see Zack and Rae as a couple and interacting in the clan they once felt like outcasts in. How did the old alpha treat them? Why doesn’t Zack let his alpha free and start his own pack? There were a lot of questions that I hope get answers in the next book.

I loved Rae and Zack's story. Rae is a she-wolf with a secret. She has recently been sent to Twin Moon Ranch from a pack in Nevada. She had requested a transfer to another pack and was happy to get out of her current pack, she could only hope that Arizona would be a better situation. Zack was the Twin Moon tracker. The product of a Navajo mother and a white father had left him as part wolf and part coyote. His friendship with the heir apparent of the Twin Moon pack, Ty, was the best thing he had going for him, that and his tracking which lets him disappear into the wilds for days at a time. When he awakes one morning, having just returned from a week away tracking, he smells something in the air that he hasn't ever smelled before. A new scent that seems to promise good things. When he finally traces it to the new female wolf at the ranch he is intrigued, until he is told to stay away from her and to keep the other single males away from her. Why?

I will let you discover Rae's secret for yourself. Rae and Zack make a great couple, once they both realize that what they have together is special and worth fighting for.

Rae has no choice but to run. Zack knows that he will never be 100% accepted by the pack so he just keeps his head down and does what is expected from him. He might be their best tracker but the alpha makes sure that he knows his place. Now that the new girl is here everything is upside down as she is meant to be Ty's mate but his wolf & coyote want her. He knows that he has to fight his attraction to her as it is for the best. Rae just wants to hide but she knows that the alpha is wanting something from her she just needs to keep on pretending as no one can find out her secret. She is a huntress, Mistress of the hunt the thing of legends and she can't allow anyone to find out as it will change everything. Zack knows that she is wary now as he knows her secret can she trust him? She keeps on telling her wolf that he can't be her mate she has to fight against it. They can't become more than this as it won't end well for either of them. What can they do to find a way through this?
A good read.

When everyone makes every decision for you and all you want is a little freedom to be who you are inside it is like you are trapped. So Rae put in for a transfer from her pack to another. She ended up in Arizona of all places, but who knows maybe it will be for the best. Plenty of room to run. Better yet, no Jed.

When a new wolf come to the pack the half breed coyote-wolf shifter isn't sure what to make of her other than that she smells like all of summer and hope all wrapped together. Too bad she is off limits. His best friend and future pack leader said so himself. So he will just have to keep his nose....and his hands to himself.

Hunt with Rae and Zack for prey...and maybe even a little more.

For anyone who loves a woman with a possessive streak and a man who knows how to pick his battles this one is for you. And with a little shifter spark thrown in who can blame you? Honestly it is an amazing book full of past scars and future promise. Sometimes that's all you need to make it through the day.

I love this series, and have read most of the other books in this series before this one, so it was interesting to see where some of the characters started with this short prequel to the series. Desert Hunt follows Rae and Zack as they discover a connection between them. This angers the pack alpha, who is too set in his old school ways. Rae has been searching for a pack that feels like home for her. She's been in some pretty messed up packs so far, so she finds it hard to trust. She's given the opportunity to go to live with the Twin Moon wolf pack, but the alpha has a hidden agenda. Zack is a member of the wolf pack at Twin Moon, and is tasked with keeping the other male wolves away from Rae. He knows he should stay away from her, but these two begin to feel a connection that can't be denied. Rae and Zack are adorable, and I loved seeing them fight for what they want. Sweet story with a bit of action. I really enjoyed the read!

Destined mates or arranged mate?

Rae has a secret and somehow Tyrone, alpha of twin moon ranch has figured it out. He wants her to mate his son but her wolf has picked the outcast and Ty's friend Zack. Meanwhile someone from her past wants her too and he will do anything to get her.

Zack is broken soul and you feel for him right away. He grew up an orphan of the pack and his mixed heritage means no one really wants him. Rae distrusts everyone because they all seem set out to use her or abuse her. She has lived with some pretty awful packs. They seem more pushed together by destiny than actually pursuing each other. Tyrone won't allow Zack to have what he wants though so Zack has a choice to make which could prove fatal. These two characters have been through so much you just want them to have some peace and happiness. This was hard to put down. I highly recommend it.

What an awesome story!

Rae and Zack-the Sparks fly from the beginning to the end. The writing style is great(someone proofs!) the scenery is like you're there! I love the added scense, smell, as a character. And having never been to the desert, Anna gave me sights, sounds and smells that just added to the adventure! While this was a free book, it wasn't an ARC, but this is an honest review. If you like shifters, steamy scenes, twists, turns, and surprises, then this is a series for you!! It's a fast but deep read and I really enjoyed it and look forward to the rest of the packs stories!

Lyrical telling of the common trope

It is the age old telling of the werewolf/shifter trope: mates meet and overcome obstacles to find their happy ending. But what makes this telling different is the lyrical language in which the story is told. There is a beauty and mysticism in the language that makes it stand out.

Rae, the Mistress of the Hunt, hides her identity because revealing it would put a target on her back. Zack, the alpha with a hybrid coyote and wolf, is subservient to the wolf alpha to belong to a pack. They have to overcome their human pasts to find their destiny and happiness.

The writing quality of this book is very high, and the prose is easy and nice to read. Unfortunately I wasn't as captivated with the characters as they were with each other. While I can't fault the book in any way, the storyline is action packed and we'll paced, the "inner wolf" conversation was amusing, the descriptions are clear... It just isn't in my too rated books. It didn't have that certain je ne sais quoi for me that makes me want to read on and I found myself impatient to reach the end.

Absolute favorite of this series

This was the very first book I read by this author. It was also the book that had be falling head over heels in love with the characters of Twin Moon Ranch. I have since read everything she has published but Zack and Rae are still my favorite!
Read this exciting book and see what I am talking about. Zack is strong and sexy but he is also man enough to let Rae shine.
