The Baltimore Banners #2
Game Over
Forensics accountant Bobbi Reeves is pulled back into a world of shadows in order to go undercover as a personal assistant with the Baltimore Banners. Her assignment: get close to defenseman Nikolai Petrovich and uncover the reason he's being extorted. But she doesn't expect the irrational attraction she feels—or the difficulty in helping someone who doesn't want it.
Nikolai Petrovich, a veteran defenseman for the Banners, has no need for a personal assistant—especially not one hired by the team. During the last eight years, he has learned to live simply...and alone. Experience has taught him that letting people close puts them in danger. He doesn't want a personal assistant, and he certainly doesn't need anyone prying into his personal life. But that doesn't stop his physical reaction to the unusual woman assigned to him.
They are drawn together in spite of their differences, and discover a heated passion that neither expected. But when the game is over, will the secrets they keep pull them closer together...or tear them apart?

4.5 out of 5
This is the second book I’ve read in the Baltimore Banner series by Ms. Klamp and I enjoyed is as much as the first though I don’t think you can call it a hockey romance. The hero plays hockey but there’s very little ‘hockey’ in it and very little interaction with his teammates. Nikolai strikes me as being very much a loner and once you get into the heart of the book, one can see why. This strikes me more of a romantic suspense romance.
Bobbi Reeves is coerced by her boss and former partner to work as a ‘personal assistant’ for Russian pro hockey player Nikolai Petrovich. In actual fact she is a forensic accountant and her boss and his people want her to spy on him without him knowing what’s really going on.
This all sounds somewhat vague and it is, but it works very well as Bobbi is kept in the dark herself about a lot of things and further details are revealed as we read further into the book.
Nikolai for his part, wants nothing to do with having a personal assistant. He’s had them in the past and he knows they are with him only to ‘watch’ him because he has something to hide. He doesn’t trust anyone and while it doesn’t come out outright, we get the sense throughout the story that he leads a very lonely life. Though he’s against it, something about Bobbi makes him smile and even laugh on occasion, something that is very rare in his life and he agrees to have her as his assistant though he still doesn’t trust her.
At this point I don’t want to say more about the story at the risk of spoilers. Instead I’ll say how much I enjoyed both Bobbi and Nicolai. There are some pretty strong sparks going off between them. Nikolai is a very good guy. Considering he was a pro athlete, he could be living the life, the life of a player. But instead he seems to live in near poverty. I just found him very appealing and loved his character. And Bobbi is equally interesting. It goes against her nature to do what she is doing and her conscious is quite bothered. She’s torn between her growing feelings for Nikolai and trying to dig into his secrets. She becomes very protective of him and it’s different to see a heroine who is protective of the hero and for a good part of the story we are wondering what’s really going on as Bobbi is more than we are led to believe.
Although as stated earlier, this is not a hockey romance in the true sense of the word, at least not to me, it reinforced how much I like Ms. Klamps writing and I’m currently reading another in the series – and loving it.

Pretty good book, was surprised that a book about a forensic accountant was be so intense!

I loved both characters. More hockey would have been better.
I found the crux of the story with the two criminals not that believable but otherwise it was good.
And bobbi had a life pre hockey hunk? Wow that's a turn up for the books

I LOVE this series! This series has it all hot hockey players, strong women, panty melting chemistry, and suspense! Nikolai is super sexy and is a puzzle. Bobbi is a forensic accountant sent in undercover to be his assistant and figure out if he is being embezzled from and who is responsible. The added drama comes from the fact that the agent that sends her undercover is her ex who she is still at odds with. The mystery part of this is so well written and adds a whole other layer to the story. Nikolai and Bobbi are drawn together and can't deny the chemistry, but Bobbi has a job to do and isn't sure where their romance will stand when the truth comes out. The characters are so well developed and you really aren't sure who all the bad guys are until the very end! Great series and cannot wait to read more!!

I am always looking for romance books based around Ice Hockey. What can I say? They are always hot to me. I stumbled across this new author's work and I am very pleased I did. Absolutely loved, loved the stories. Not so much covered on the ice hockey story but a great interaction between the 2 main characters involved in the storyline.
The covers to the books are rocking hot and very well done in my eyes. Great job Lisa and I look forward to reading more of your books :)

Not bad. I didn't feel the connection between the characters in the beginning. They fell in love so quickly and I felt there wasn't enough interaction between Robbie and Nikoli to feel that way. They have their adorable and steamy moments together, that's for sure. I just didn't believe they could fall in love so quickly.
This story did keep me interested, though.
I received a copy from BookRhythm in exchange for an honest review.

Wow I completely fell in love with this book & this author. This love story was so romantic and it just makes you wish that you had a real life Russian like Nikolai in your life to love you forever. This whole series has been good and I look forward to the rest of them. I do wish though that the ending had better closure but that just me being selfish because I love that sort of ending.

A little less hockey than in the first book, and a whole lot more suspense.
This time it's the Banners defenseman Nikolai Petrovich front and center. I don't recall him from the Crossing the Line, nor do we get mention of AJ or Alec. I kinda like it when a series gives us updates on the much-loved characters from novels past, but oh well.
Nikolai's financials are being investigated, it looks as though he's being extorted for millions.
Forensic accountant Bobbi is embedded into his life as his personal assistant slash babysitter.
Lisa Kamps' characters are once again so likeable. I was really rooting for these two. Shame there wasn't more about the hockey, or even his teammates.
Definitely interested in reading more of this series.

The way that the author wrote this story kept me on the edge of my seat. The descriptions of the main characters were very vague at first, then as the plot developed slowly things were revealed.
You knew something was going on with Nikolai, but you weren't sure what is was exactly.
There are a number of characters that make you very suspicious. I am not going to reveal any spoilers as I think you should go into this story with an open mind so you can fully experience it.
What I liked about this particular story is Nikolai is a strong sensitive, loyal romantic lead male. Bobbi is also a great match for Nikolai.
This story can be read out of order, but I highly recommend reading this series.

Loved this! Romance, extortion, big sexy Russian, and strong confident woman....all of these and more were packed into book 2 in this series. Just two books in and already it is clear that this series is going to be more of a story than hockey players. The original storyline for this book makes every page a page turner and that is good story telling at its finest!
Well written with lovable characters! I recommend!

I'm enjoyed the story and the plot. I just don't like the dialogue. Mostly how Nikolai speaks. I know he's Russian and imagine he has broken English, but regardless, who in the 21 century speaks old English?? For exmaple, "You must eat and drink. The food is hearty, and we have a long day ahead of us." No one really talks like that... That's what really bothers me with this book.

A little mystery along with a great romance! I have really enjoyed all of the books written by Lisa Kamps, they are well written and move along nicely. This is the first one that I have read that has a mystery in it. Very good book.

3 stars
Much more cohesive than book 1. The main storyline was pretty far fetched, but there was way less storylines left hanging and I liked that the heroine had a prior life before meeting her hero.

4 Star Read:
Among some of my favorites. Outstanding literary work. The characters are well developed, interesting. The liked characters are likable and the hated are unlikable. The writing is captivating enough to keep you interested until the end and leave you wanting more. It has a fairly original or uniquely well-developed plot. The pretense and romance were well balanced and done with properly distributed amounts of hints, behaviors, and chemistry. Not so much predictable if at all. Overall, loved it, I recommend reading!!

This is the second book in The Baltimore Banners series. it can be read as a standalone and does not end in a cliffhanger. What does forensic accounting and hockey have in common? Nothing except that those are the professions of the two main characters in this book. Bobbi is a forensic accountant who is persuaded by her ex to go undercover as an assistant to Nicholai who is a hockey player from Russia. When acting as his assistant, she is tasked to find out what's going on with his finances. She quickly realizes that Nicholai is keeping secrets and that something is going on with his finances. The sexual tension between them is off the charts and things definitely get hot and steamy. She also realizes that her ex isn't telling her everything he knows about the situation. As she comes closer to figuring out what's going on, will she survive the investigation with her heart and head intact?
While it is a predictable storyline, I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more books in this series.

I enjoyed the story it took me two days to finish it. I did find that I had to read the prologue twice to figure out, that Bobbie was a Forensics accountant, maybe I was tired but I found it kind of awkward and had the feeling I should have already known these characters and their history together. The chemistry between Bobbi & Nikolai was brilliant. I was a bit disappointed that AJ and Alec did not make an appearance in this story. Please don’t get me wrong I have really enjoyed this series and Nikolai story was very written, at this moment the only thing that connects these books as a series is that they play for The Baltimore Banners. Again if you are a Hockey or sports fan, and love hot romance; you need to add Game Over The Baltimore Banners #2 to your TBR list. Thank you Lisa for sharing your stories and talents. I’m off to read book #3 and #4

I was gifted this book as part of a giveaway. Sport romance is my favorite genre. This hockey romance did not disappoint. The book was the perfect balance of sex, love, humor, and suspense. The story focuses on a hockey player who unbeknownst to anyone is motivated by the need to protect his family. While it's suspected that something is just not right with Nikolai and his finances from his hockey contract. Bobbi is a forensic accountant tasked with the job to see who is extorting Nikolai. Nikolai and Bobbi develop a relationship however sinister individuals threatened to take away their chance at happiness. They have to learn to rely and trust each other. This is a great read!! Highly recommend!

Talk about polar opposite from the first book in this series! I went into this book and was totally taken aback by how different it was. Anyone who is about to read the second one... IT IS NOTHING LIKE THE FIRST. (Just so your not blindsided). I didn't end up liking it as much as I did the first one, because it felt way more far fetched with the story line. I just had a really hard time relating to it. I did however enjoy the language aspects they added to it. I really enjoyed that she knew what he was saying even when he didn't think she could understand. It made it feel romantic and special. All in all interesting way to go with this couple, and interested to see what the next book brings me.

Even better
This is such a great book, I couldn't put it down. I loved the characters and how the relationships develop or broke down. It was a complicated story line but I didn't want to stop read this book, I even almost burnt dinner because I was so caught up in the last few chapters!
