Chip Kelly keeps astounding and baffling NFL fans and pundits with his dramatic roster changes, explosive offense and radical attacks on NFL tradition. But he always has a plan in mind, even if he keeps it secret.
Now the author of "THE TAO OF CHIP KELLY" and the weekly "Chip Kelly Update" returns with deep insight into the mind of one of the NFL’s most innovative and increasingly controversial coaches.
CONTROLLED CHAOS explores Coach Kelly’s tumultuous entrance into the NFL and his strategies that make the Philadelphia Eagles one of the most dynamic teams in the game.
Using his experience as a storyteller and standup comedian, author Mark Saltveit goes beyond the X’s-and-O’s and looks at the very fabric of the organization, all while recounting the nitty gritty stories of one NFL season, featuring characters such as Murderleg, Johnny Manziel, and Bryan Braman, the ex-model who grew up homeless and tackled a Titans punt returner head first—without a helmet.
With sharp wit and even sharper perception, Saltveit chronicles the collision between Kelly's radical ideas and the NFL's brilliant but traditional coaches, teasing out the elusive method behind Kelly's apparent madness. Author Mark Saltveit is a true renaissance man -- a writer on science and religion, world palindrome champion, standup comedian, storyteller, and the author of best-seller THE TAO OF CHIP KELLY. He also founded and ran an innovative computer training company in San Francisco during the 1990s, where he learned firsthand the value of the leadership and management innovations Chip Kelly is bringing to the NFL.
As Kelly continues to reinvent the game of football itself with ideas taken from the Navy Seals, rugby stars, and silly movies, CONTROLLED CHAOS is essential reading for any gridiron fan.
I received this book as a First Read. It's a well written history of Chip Kelly's NFL coaching. The book includes quotes and footnotes. However, it has a very pro-Chip stance. It would've been more interesting had it been more objective. And the notion that Chip Kelly is equal to Sean Payton is just crazy - Payton is way better. And claiming surprise that Aaron Rodgers is a good QB? C'mon. NFL fans will enjoy this book. The rundowns of the practices make Kelly sound like even more of a wild character than people already think he is.
This is about Chip Kelly’s second season as Hc of Philadelphia Eagles. It is basically a recap of articles written about the team and the coach during the season . Thee are interesting sections on desean jackson and shady McCoy and how they became ex eagles . If you are a die hard eagle fan and can’t get enough Chip Kelly stories you will enjoy.Though you probably know these stories already having read this author s first book on Chip Kelly I had high expectations that were not meet with this book .
