Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos are the offspring of some of the most terrible villains of all time. They're offered a chance to leave the Isle of the Lost, where they have been imprisoned all their lives, and go to prep school in the idyllic kingdom of Auradon with all of the 'good' kids. 3.5 stars!

This Disney channel movie novelization starts out right where The Isle of the Lost ended.
Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos have spent their whole lives on the Isle, because of their villainous parents. But when Prince Ben declares that the 'innocent' children of the Isle of the Lost should be given a second chance, they find themselves sent to Auradon, with a special mission from their parents to take down the kingdom and bring Fairy Godmother's wand to Maleficent. Will the Descendants contin

It was nice to see what happened to the heroes and villains in the movies that we grew up with. The next generation all seem to be cool. Glad that Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay are doing well at Auradon. Wonder who the villains' significant others are.

Can't wait to read Descendants 2!!!!

Just to clarify, I never watched the movie, nor have I ever heard of a movie about the Descendants.

3.5 stars.

I almost didn’t want to read the book, as the cover for this one is just terrible and horrendous, and it doesn’t make me want to read the book, nor (when I found out) watch the movie. Yes, I am still a cover lover, and covers need to attract me. But I decided for once to just go for the blurb and check it out, and I am glad I did as the story was fantastic.

Welcome to a world where Good a

I had fun with this novelization.

This was certainly amusing, I have to say! I love the idea, and I vaguely remember seeing a snippet of the movie on TV before the place's channel switched, so I can't compare.

But the book is short, sweet (well...sorta sweet *wink*), and something fun for a Saturday afternoon.

The Descendants
4/5 stars

Oh my gosh it's over and I'm bummed out. I've (through no fault of my own) developed a highly unhealthy obsession with this world and these characters.

Obviously, this wasn't as well written as the Isle of the Lost, because Melissa De La Cruise didn't write it. But I enjoyed it nonetheless. I wanted to watch the Disney Channel movie as soon as I finished the prequel, but, since I was pretty late on the whole "descendants" train, I haven't been able to find it yet. So I fig

Well, this is exactly what I expected it to be.

On the surface, this book is definitely a poorly novelized adaption of a Disney made-for TV musical. It has flat, undistinguishable characters in a predictable world following a similar plot as High School Musical, only this time with the children of our favorite Disney big screen heroes and villains. I was able to read it in less than two hours, and I struggled to differentiate one character from other.

However, I know that I am not the intended au

Pretty good

I read this because my daughter loved descendants and I wanted to see what it was all about.
Not bad at all, it is very much a kids book but I did enjoy the story and getting to know the different characters.
I am totally fine with my daughter reading these books

In the movie novelization we meet the evil villains kids and follow their adventure from their town into the land of the good where all the Prince and princesses kids live and go to school.

So when two opposite groups collide, they clash but still integrate too as they discover love and friendship and find themselves actually having fun, will they go through with their wicked plan?

It is a great story with the characters being led it seems by Mal so we get a strong feel of her leadership and not r

A great short read!!!!!! Loved the creativeness of imagining what would it be like if all the Disney stories we have grown up with also had kids & the moral of the story: good triumphs evil of course!!!!!! :)

Descendents adapted by Rico Green, is about Evie, Mal, Jay, and Carlos who are the children of Maleficent, Jafar, Cruela Devil, and the Evil Queen. They are all trapped in the Isle of The Lost(For bad people). But, one day, the villians' children were chosen to go to a prep school in Auradon( where the good people live). Maleficent made them go , so they could steel Cinderela's fairy god mother's wand. ...more

This is a novelization of the movie, so it's literally one big spoiler (like the diary and spellbook weren't) so be aware of that if you want to watch the movie. I personally dont mind spoilers. They actually make me more excited for whatever I was spoiled for. So I REALLY liked this book, and I'm super excited for the movie!!! ...more

Recommends it for: Descendants fans... maybe.
As I've said before: yes, yes. I know. The whole 'Disney movies are for kids' thing. That applies to books, too, allegedly.. I watched the movie because Jafar is my favorite Disney villain. Sadly, he didn't have a big role in the movie, nor did he have a big one in this novelization. This was not as good as the movie. The movie seemed intended for teens/young adults while this book, at times, seemed to be for toddlers.

Early on, the author describes the scene where Carlos, Mal, Jay, and Evie sang

The next generation

What happens when the heroes and villains of our fairy tales have children of their own? Disney is ready to tell us. Here is the story of children of villains vs children of heroes, and the one that thinks they all deserve a second chance. When the daughters of Malificent and the Evil Queen and the sons of Jafar and Cruella Deville are invited by the son of Beauty and the Beast to attend his school, their parents think it's a great opportunity. In character, they aren't lookin

Truly terrible. No matter how low you set the bar, this book will limbo under it. Even for a movie novelization, it's pretty bad. Even for middle-schooler-written fan fiction, it's pretty bad. No character development, just a blow-by-blow retelling of each detail of each scene in the movie (I must assume - I haven't seen it and now have no desire to do so). The quote that comes to mind is, "What you've just [written] is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever [read]. At no point in y ...more

It's an exact novel of the movie, written very plainly with little insight into the character's thoughts or feelings. I expected it to have more in depth characterization. It is meant for kids between the ages of 5 and 8. It has no complex sentence structures, so variation, and nothing new. To be honest, it was a very poor attempt at creating a book, even for children, based off the movie. I'm nearly positive that all the writer did was take the script and copy it down with full sentences. I wou ...more
