I thought I'd had enough dinosaur poop, but when the library got another of these e-books in, I just couldn't resist. I actually like this one a little better than The Dinosaur That Pooped the Past! because of the message. Danny and Dino cut corners when they're trying to clean up their bedroom, and it backfires... spectacularly.
Rather than actually clean up, Dino just eats everything. He swells up so huge that he blocks the door, preventing Danny from getting out... and getting to the TV! Of course, the solution to any problem in these books is always the same, and Dino lets it rip.
Little kids who are still enamoured with poop jokes will probably love this. There's nothing wrong with it, really, it's just that I think I'm a little older than the target audience. Still, I did giggle a little when the... um... poop hit the fan. (Actually, it was a ceiling light. But you get the idea.)
Both of my children love The Dinosaur That Pooped series of books and this is another bedtime favourite of my sons. There's something about Dinosaurs and poop that seems to be an immediate hit with my son and although he is too young to read yet he always knows when to shout Poo! in line with the story.
The book starts with Danny being told that he can't watch anymore television until he tidies his room which is an absolute mess. Rather than tidy the room, Danny and Dinosaur have a great idea to have Dinosaur just eat the contents which includes among other things Danny's bed and hamster cage which is complete with Danny's hamster! Unfortunately Dinosaur's tummy grows so big that he takes up most of the space in the room and blocks the door so that they are stuck in Danny's room and although the room is now tidy they can't actually get out to go an watch anymore television. Dinosaur then has the usual dilemma of trying to work out how to fix the problem and as usual the answer is for Dinosaur to do his normal humongous poop!
My son thinks all of the range is absolutely hilarious but there seems to be something extra especially funny about the Dinosaur pooping all over Danny's bedroom and even though we have now read this book what must be in excess of 50 times, my son still laughs our loud and this is a regular bedtime book request along with the others in the series.
I happened to have met Tom and he is a lovely man. I love this series as it’s filled with jokes from that first line your eyes go across to the picture of Danny’s dinosaur having a nice poop. The poop part is what tickles me every time and you can’t seem to not laugh no matter how much you read and go over the picture and you can’t hate it, it’s funny. Five star is written over the cover of the book when you say purchase on Amazon and that will make you want the whole series and read every single one from the series in one day! Lovely Tom fletcher book and hopefully this series never ends
My nephew introduced me to this one and I thought I would share cause we found it hilarious, even if grandma did find it gross. lol!!!
After being told to clean his room before watching tv Danny decides life would be just a whole lot easier if he just fed everything to his pet dinosaur. So he does. Toys, clothes, the bed, garbage, etc all get eaten by his dinosaur who is then so bloated that he's blocking the door. When the dino's stomach start a rumbling, there's nowhere for Danny to go and he is caught in a poop-nado of all the things he fed his dinosaur, plus some. All things and bedroom now covered in poop it take Danny far longer to clean then if he had just done it right the first time.
For a kids' book it's a bit graphic, but I can tell you my nephew had a HUGE smile on his face throughout the whole book and even cackled a few times. So 5/5 stars and just know he immediately asked if we could read it again so be prepared to read this puppy a couple of times if you got a kiddo who loves fart and poop jokes as much as his uncle does! I guess somethings never change, even with age.

Brilliant, just brilliant. What child is not going to love a book about a dinosaur and poop?! The rhyming pattern is great, good for spotting rhyming words. Flows so well, makes it a joy to read aloud. One predictable part giving children the opportunity to join in and shout POOP as loud as they can, which is just hilarious when reading it in school. Illustrations are just wonderfully done, so lovely to look at. Dinosaur looks so happy and friendly. Overall, just a fantastic book. Great to read aloud especially. I LOVE it!
Oh my goodness. This book. It's potty humor extraordinaire! Great for kids (or adults who never *quite* outgrew that stage...you know who you are... who want a good laugh. It isn't fine literature, true, but who cares! It's potty humor! And there's a nice little moral at the end, so there's something in it even for those for whom the idea of lakes of juicy dino poop isn't amusing. :D
Hilarious book for both adult and kids. My son is too young to appreciate it, but I enjoyed it. It’s fun and silly, with lots of rhymes and words I’m sure he hasn’t been read yet.
A very funny story that I use to talk about the appropriate use of “bathroom words” in Grade 1. There’s also a good moral about cleaning up right the first time.
What can I say about this picture book? The story and illustrations are absolutely hilarious! It’s not just incredibly funny, but it also carries a valuable lesson for kids.
I've seen this in the shops but never read any, then came home to find my mother in law had bought this. So, while the title may clearly state what happens, I wasn't quite prepared for how far they would take it once he starts pooping. Needless to say my 3 year old loved it and it brought more than a few smiles to my face. Rhyming is hard though and it doesn't quite manage it successfully throughout, though it didn't seem to matter that much. I guess we'll be getting the rest of these then.
