Another great primer to help Neo. This time, we focus on sight words as the story unfolds about the lucky ED and his unlucky friend, FRED. Throughout, sight words are embedded into the short narrative, helping new readers find them and take thew reins of the story. Neo knocked this out of the park, speeding through sight and other words, while laughing at poor Fred. He's surely making much progress and showing me just how awesome reading can be. I hope to have more exciting NEO READS for you soon.

I love books that help teach reading and compassion at the same time. I think everyone's heart goes out to Fred who just can't seem to catch a break. Great book for beginning readers. Super engaging illustrations. We hope to see many more books by Kevin Bolger!

Children will learn to read and understand basic grammar in a fun way with Ed and Fred!
Story: Ed, an orange character, participates in activities that are fun and nice and have positive outcomes. Fred, a purple character, is chosen to be the example of unlucky events with negative (though funny) outcomes. The book has a narrator voice with many interjections from poor Fred.
Language: The book contains many basic intro words to learn and recognize and a broad range of grammar including negation, possession and word order. Fred also provides comical dialogue that a young child would use and recognize.
Children will laugh as they spot details in the pictures and learn words and grammar. Ed and Fred make learning fun!
I recommend to parents of children learning to read and also to younger listeners to follow along and enjoy the fun pictures and story.

My first grader loved this. He is starting to read books by himself and it can be difficult to find a book that is appropriately-challenging for newbie readers. This one has several great qualities: Lots of sight words, repetition, good illustrations and humor.

A laugh out hilarious book using only simple sight words. Ed and Fred have a hilarious adventure with poor Fred being the butt of jokes. The kind of silliness that most appeals to early readers. Easy reader perfection.

This is a funny and engaging little book for kids beginning to read on their own. My five year old giggled the whole way through it.
