Felt like I was reading 'The Hunger Games' and it would be a nice title for this story if it wasn't already taken. The rising of the undead becomes the event of the year - people are chosen, putted with starving zombies and the one who survives is free to go. The extremily graphic deaths and the overall despair gave me chills and that's what makes this short story good. I'd like to have more explanations by the scientist team but I guess it was enough to get the writter's idea. ...more

A good mix of suspense and horror, keeping you on the edge of your seat.

For years, the dead have been rising as zombies, leaving death and destruction in their wake for one night per year. Michelle has been writing and reading her whole life. Her earliest memory of books was when she was five and decided to try and teach her fish how to read, by putting her Beatrix Potter books in the fish tank with them. Since then her love of books has grown, and now she is writing her own, and looking forward to seeing them on her shelves, though they won’t be going anywhere near the fish tank.
