A decent collection of stories. The first one was toooo kitschy for me, but some I quite liked. I think Out of Africa was my favorite, but that is likely linked to the fact that a dear friend of mine (now deceased) loved the same line in the book.

These are all short stories (about 20 pages each) that include either mom, apple pie or murder or a combination thereof.

some of the stories are really good and a few I was confused. But an enjoyable book!

I enjoyed these short stories very much, but it did make me wary of trying the apple pie recipes. I mean, one can kill in so many ways with pies and apples and sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Just saying.

The rest were told concisely, but fully. A couple authors, I liked their short story better than their full-length novels. ...more
