One of my favourite books ever. I love it so much, I have read the whole series 5 times and I have all the books at home!!! They are so amazing and I recommend them so much!! don't think twice before buying, just read it!!

Aesop has figured out a long time ago that for a moral lesson to work through a literary form there needs to be some displacement, something for the reader to do, so that the reader feels that they found the moral themselves. No such subtlety in this book, the reader is treated to straight moralising, the thin fantasy veneer does not disguise it in the least.

I dislike the condescension towards young readers in the thinking that they won’t see through this. My daughter’s reaction: “Children here do not behave like children”. Right, they behave like they appreciate the moralising.

As the first book in the series, it mostly serves as an introduction to the series' world and characters. As such, it isn't as fleshed out as the following books, but still clearly presents the series' promising concept of parents getting turned into kids and having to befriend their own children.
