The Inner Heart of Reiki is the first Reiki book to look at the inner heart of the spiritual teachings of the system of Reiki. It will take practitioners and teachers to a whole new level of understanding about their practice and about the way they teach.
The Inner Heart of Reiki is a wonderful companion for the advanced Reiki student and/or teacher who wants to dive deeper into their daily practice and expand their energetic understanding of Reiki. This book is a clear and concise guide to help you integrate the various components of the system of Reiki--the precepts, meditations, symbols/mantras, and hands-on-healing--into your sessions, classes, and most importantly, your life.
Frans Stiene, often referred to as "the Reiki Teacher's Teacher," takes his extensive research and grounded personal understanding and practice, and outlines a path of practice you can follow in his gentle, compassionate, and often humorous way.
As a Reiki teacher and practitioner, I found this book quite breathtaking. Breathtaking is the perfect word--this book reminds you to connect to your breath and your True Self while reading it! The book was truly wonderful, and something I'll reread and refer to often as I expand my personal understanding of Reiki.
There are three key insights: 1. Reiki is meditation 2. The main secret of Reiki is practice 3. Reiki is not "something to do"; Reiki is "something to be"
This book will take you out of the maze of system of Reiki and bring forward a simple, honest and the most lucid exposition on practicing system of Reiki from spirirual traditional perspective ever put on paper. The teachings are not watered down and are profound
For the first time I found a teacher and a teaching philosophy with so much credibility and the first time any Reiki teacher has ever explored and integrated esoteric japanese aspects of teaching so well that I had the confidence to trust in the more esoteric aspects of a that weren't initially obvious to me.
Frans Stiene has the wisdom and courage to acknowedge inner/deeper aspects of our inner most mind. You can start to get the idea in the beginning of the book , with a poem written by Frans- Digging for the truth- A glimmer of the hope.
It talks and explain in simple, organized way about all the hidden and inner teachings of elements of system of Reiki . Starting from precepts to symbols to Reiju(initiation/attunement).
Not only that, it present the reader , the esoteric and additional practices which are hidden in traditional System of Reiki and how one can go deeper and deeper , in their own personal practice by the understanding , first intellectually and than by direct experience.
It is utterly refreshing and healthy to look at the system of Reiki through glasses which are not colored by biases, labels, preconceived ideas . As these glasses are from a teacher or should I say a " student " who with his own practice and direct experience have put forward a journey for us that we can take hand in hand, with no fear and confidence.
The practice presented in the book is a very matter-of-fact journey into yourself and your true nature.
This book has layered wisdom , so more you read , more you find your own innate wisdom. Just like one can find with books and teachings from the old Masters.
After I have started reading this book , seems my mind is suddenly expanding , I see little light bulbs turning on , everywhere in my mind and heart .
And now , I also see all the lessons that I need to learn
I have healed my mind and heart with the teachings that I have learned from Frans all these years and now so confident to be on the path to self discovery.
Off course I am biased because I have known and studied with Frans for now 3 years yet when I read the book , I found new layers of teaching and my mind started to illuminated even more brightly and my heart is melting in reverence and aww. I feel so fortunate to be student of Frans Stiene.
And I will go this much to say , this is the best spiritual Reiki book ever written so far in the 21st century!.
This is a book you want to keep at your bed side and read few pages every morning , as a mirror to your own true self and a reminder that we all are in this journey together.
I love how Frans Stiene keeps Reiki practice simple but always manages to inspire you and give you the signposts to go deeper into your practice. While his past book, The Japanese Art of Reiki, switched my vision of Reiki from a hands-on healing modality to a spiritual practice that I'm passionate about, in this book his exploration of the multiple meanings of symbols and mantras as well as the relationships with the precepts are eye opening. Thank you Frans!
"The Inner Heart of Reiki" is the consummate book on foundations and practice of the traditional Japanese system of Reiki. Frans is able to clearly present the principles and foundations of Reiki practice because of his in-depth investigation and practice of its historical spiritual elements. He truly lives it and what better way to communicate to others about the essence of Reiki practice! The light of his experience and practice shines through in this book and his classes and retreats.
This is an excellent book if you want to understand the meaning behind the symbols and the precepts. Frans gathers his information from his experience in working with Buddhist monks. It reads like a meditation, and will allow you to appreciate Reiki on a deeper level.
Frans Steine writes in ‘The Inner Heart of Reiki: Rediscovering Your True Self’ about the inner heart of the spiritual teachings of the system of Reiki. This is the true meaning of Reiki, in depth, in one book. The book explores the whole system of Reiki including the central precepts taught by Usui which point to the heart/mind element that in essence is our true self. Embodying Reiki and being Reiki is a non-dual experience.
‘When we truly forget the self, there is no division between inside and outside, no division between yourself and externals. In such a way, we can appreciate life in its fullness.’ - Taizan Maezumi, Appreciate Your Life: The Essence of Zen Practice.
‘Usui Sensei taught the way to Satori very intensely to those who had achieved a certain level.’ - Hiroshi Doi, A Modern Reiki Method for Healing.

Most in depth book I have read on the whole system of Reiki, unlike other books on the history, meditations and hand positions, it goes straight to the heart of the inner heart of reiki and how we can discover our True Self through the pointers in Mikao Usui’s teachings.
This is one of the most remarkable spiritual books I have read in a long time. Frans Stiene has a deep understanding not just of Reiki techniques but also of the connections to esoteric Buddhism that Mikao Usui, Reiki's founder, signposted in every aspect of his teaching. It turns out that Reiki isn't just a set of hand positions and symbols for healing. It's a spiritual path based on daily meditation practice and following the bodhisattva way of acknowledging and experiencing the interconnectedness of all beings, the great bright light that interpermeates all that is. I highly recommend this book!
Best book about reiki I’ve ever read. Keep your eye on the work of frans stiene. Frans fills you in on all the gaps in information and questions you had about reiki that no teachers really are able or willing to answer for you!!!!
Muuten oikein hyvä kirja asiasta kiinnostuneelle, mutta symbolit ja kanjit puuttuivat. Ontuvaa ruotia tarkkaan, kun itse merkkejä ei ole esillä ollenkaan.
This is the best book on Reiki that I have ever read! I think it is especially good it you have been journeying with Reiki for a while, perhaps if you have been attuned to the Master level. The author Frank Stiene has gone past all the unimportant details and writes about what Reiki really is. Not some magical force that only a Master can give his/her students, but a system that helps us to open our hearts, bodys and minds to the universal life force that already runs through us. He writes beautifully of the Reiki symbols and how their message points the way towards enlightenment, or Truth. A must read for all Reiki practitioners!
