Heather Macinnes is finally safe at home, her two sisters there to offer comfort. She escaped the notorious ghost warriors and thankfully never laid eyes on their leader the Dark Dragon. Her ordeal is done. However, she learns only too soon that her ordeal is far from done...it is just beginning.
The Dark Dragon is as mysterious as the past he keeps hidden, but secrets slowly come to light, and when an old foe arrives to seek revenge, the Dragon’s past comes back to haunt not only him but the woman who loves him against all odds.
With secrets to uncover, revenge to seek, and war looming on the horizon, Heather and the Dark Dragon must lay the past to rest, so they can build a future together.
Lets just start out with what you want to know, YES this is an awesome book. Well done and great story line. Now for the rest of you. Action, Love, twists and turns. Once you start reading you will not stop. It is the amazing end to this great trilogy. I wanted to keep reading but knew the end would come. I hated to leave this book. I want to go back and reread it just to feel the emotions I had through this book.
You think you know whats going on, then you realize you don't and just sit back for the ride. Enjoy it because I tell you now Rhos is fricken HAWT, Possessive, and very protective of what is his. Heather is just as she always is. Honest, sweet and always there with a smile and a helping hand. I love that the other sisters are in this book and she ties up everything nicely.
This book will stay with you long after you are done reading it.
This is definitely the best book of the bunch, and considering that it's a book where the hero's been built up so much in the previous two stories, that's no surprise.
We finally get around to Heather's story, only to find out that her first abduction by the Dark Dragon...doesn't really get that much of a focus in the story. That's alright though, as we skip right ot the action: that Donald has yet again married off one of his daughters against her will and without her say so, this time Heather to the Dark Dragon. Suffice to say that Heather's not thrilled with it, but is willing to go along with it so as to avoid bloodshed.
The two have chemistry together, of course, but Heather's still torn up over a man that she loved over ten years ago, who promised to return for her and yada yada yada. Suffice to say that her pining for him is at odds with her attraction to the Dark Dragon, Rhys, and also an unknown enemy seems to be targeting them.
The story, compared to the other two, didn't have as much repetition for the dialogue or the scenes, so that was refreshing. The one thing that was maddeningly present, however, is that the author still delays any bedroom scenes until the 50% mark, either by having the couple constantly interrupted or by having them stop themselves for no good reason. It's...a thing devoid of sense, quite frankly, and therefore something I either could have done without or that the author really should've justified better.
Ahem. But anyway, all in all, it's definitely the best story of the trilogy, has the most action to keep it fast-moving; and although it introduces a new enemy after the halfway mark for no good reason, since it did have a bearing on Rhys's past and is relevant to the story, I accepted it.
All in all, still not Donna Fletcher's best work, but a good way to while away the time for a bit.
I enjoyed this tremendously - the main couple was well matched and the story flowed smoothly. I didn’t read the first two books in the series before I read this but I caught up on the backstory quickly. Hero and heroine knew each other during their younger days and were in love, but they were separated for 10 years until he comes back under another name and guise. She figures out who he is in the middle of the book though am surprised she didn’t figure it out earlier (his uncle for one, his features etc).
For the safety gang, hero had sexual relationships with other women during the 10 years apart - some were forced during his time in slavery and based on passages mentioned in the book, he also had other women before he reunited with the heroine. The bit about having his way with women once he was freed could be annoying for some readers - and it was for me, deducted a star for it because I like my book romance heroes devoted physically and emotionally to the women they love, and was also surprised that I didn’t see any mention of that in previous reviews - because he seemed especially determined to be reunited with his one true love.
EASILY the best of the three books in the Macinnes sisters trilogy. And that's saying A LOT because I loved the other 2 books as well. The whole series got progressively better with each installment and this just blew me away. I had feared that the bar was set to high for this one to reach, but this book was GREAT!
After being very worried for this books potential after the last one left me feeling like there were just too many loose ends to be tied up, I was proven totally wrong. The book delivers what it promises. This is Heather and the Dragon's story. It doesn't waste time on what it happening with the characters we already know that already had their time. It gives 100% of it's time to Heather and Rys, as it should and yet still takes the time to wrap up the plot left open from the last book in a rather clever way.
I can't really talk much about the relationship between the pair as I feel like I would slip very quickly into spoilers but I will say this... I called the reveal of the Dragon's true identity back when I read the first book in the series. I mean it, you can go read my review of it. - June 17, 2014: "And I'm personally under the opinion that they might not even BE a bad guy in the end, if my hunch as to the Dark Dragon's past proves true." - Me - And he does turn out to be EXACTLY who I thought he would be. But doesn't that mean that the book was too too predictable? Not even a little bit. The back story revealing the last 10 years of the dragon's life was so unexpected that it made up for me guessing who he was back in book one. The added bonus is the fact that it gives the pair a history makes their relationship and love so much more believable and stronger to me.
There is only ONE thing I would totally have to nit pick. Well TWO. Neither are enough to dock the score a full star (I'd MAYBE knock it a half if I COULD). First, the reveal of what was in the secret room felt anticlimactic after all the build up and second........ the wolves scene. Oh lord. That whole bit felt SO very unrealistic and almost like a cartoon. I actually found myself laughing out loud as I read over how ridiculous it was. Thankfully it's just like half a chapter.
Other then those nit picks... SOLID book. HIGHLY recommend this as well as the rest of the series.
Hehe!!! I think this book makes it into my top 10 of all time favourite books. I want a Dark Dragon. This story is the ultimate story of love conquring all. Death, personality changes, war all of it. Heather has made it home only to descover she is leaving again this time as.... the Dark Dragon's wife!!! He is very cold and mysterious towards her trying to keep her at arms length to protect her. Heather (Being a MaCinnis) is having none of it, she wants to know the man she was forced to wed. Given time and her kindness the Dark Dragon starts to soften and accept the love she bears for him and in time accept that he loves her too and has never stopped. The Dark Dragon turns out to be a person from Heather's past who she long thought gone. This is a true mixture of Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. That even kindess with a hint of determination and stubborness can reep the truest of benefits. Heather MaCinnis is the kinder of the 3 sisters and gets her man. I loved the bit about the wolf as it shows that even animals understand kindness and will return it. I have to admit I liked the character development in all 3 stories. The Dark Dragon was well written and when he is presented along side Rogan and Hunter even I can feel the difference between all 3 of them. I love the scenes when all 3 sisters and their husbands reunite towards the end. But I think I like Patience more although I'd like a Dark Dragon to call my own ;) Pairing the Dragon with Heather was perfect the right amount of softness to his harshness. (Got to admit I loved the descriptions of the Dragon's sweaty chest and how Heather appreciated it). This book is the perfect end to the series and I look forward to the short story that will be released finishing everything off. But for the moment this book... I am re-reading until I am in my grave (I have at least 7 decades before that if that gives anyone any indication ;) )

I thought Heather was a perfect heroine she was brave but not stupid, accepting but not a doormat, loving but not desperate.
Rhys/Dragon was a bit harder to like for reasons I can't explain without spoilers. He was gruff and demanding. But he really loves Heather - even if he doesn't realize it right away.
This book provides closure to the storylines that started in the first two books and has numerous appearances from Heather's family.
The writing in this book was more like what I expect from Ms. Fletcher. It flowed well and held my interest from the first page to the last. The love scenes were steamy and never felt "thrown in". The action and drama were well done without being unbelievable. All in all - I felt this was the best book in the series and would recommend it.
The only reason I didn't give it a solid 5 star was because I had a hard time believing that Heather wouldn't know who Rhys really was - she knew his uncle and couldn't immediately put two + two together? That is just a personal peeve and has no bearing on the story.
This is absolutely a wonderful ending to a great trilogy! I have read a lot of books this year and this is absolutely one of the best!
The Dark Dragon was such a strong character, everybody feared him. Learning how he came to be who is was and what happened to him was a fantastic story line. There are so many secrets in this book but when they all come together it all fits together perfectly.
Heather was the sister who had always kept her father’s home running smoothly and helped her two sisters whenever they needed it. When Heather was kidnapped by the Dark Dragon it was nail biting but when she was forced to marry him for the good of her family and clan I could not put this book down. There is a really bad guy, a really great hero and great suspense!
I have always been a fan of Donna Fletcher but I think she has outdone herself with her newest book!!! Check it out!!!
Overall, lumayan memuaskan sih ceritanya. Endingnya juga menjawab pertanyaan yang saya pikirkan di sepanjang series dari buku-buku sebelumnya. Saya sampe butuh 4 harian buat selesai baca, karena pengen konsen penuh sama ceritanya.

Heather Macinnes survives a kidnapping, but life is far from normal as her father marries her off to the dreaded Dark Dragon. While the Dark Dragon demands his wife to obey him, she does quite the opposite.
I loved this book and the romance between Heather and the Dark Dragon that is very passionate. I'm glad that wasn't rushed in the book. There was plenty of conflict both between the couple and external. Heather has proven to care deeply for the villagers and that helped to develop her character. The Dark Dragon was quite mysterious, but he's also a developed character.
The only thing that bothered me was when they went back to help her father and there were many characters who were referenced and I really didn't know who they were or if they were mentioned earlier in the book or not, so this confused me, but not enough to detract from the story. I've lost plenty of sleep as I was sucked into the book.
Heather, the last of the Macinnes is home with her other two sisters. After her ordeal with the leader of the Dark Dragon. She learns that's her ordeal with the mysterious leader of the Dark Dragon is just beginning. To keep the peace, her father has married her to the Dark Dragon. Can she make her marriage work. The Dragon keeps his past and secrets hidden, until an old foe arrives to seek revenge. Heather is the only price he will accept. As Heather learns more about her husband's past. She finds out that he is not the the monster, that he wants the world to believe he is. Heather is finding herself falling in love with the Dragon. With secrets to uncover, revenge to seek, and war looming on the horizon from greedy, power hungry men. Heather and the Dark Dragon must lay their past to rest, so that the can build a future together.
I read this trilogy one after the other. This one was the best for me. The first two I did a lot of skimming over pages , not so this third book. I just about threw it down thinking there is no way! You will have to read it to know what I mean but after a couple more pages it explained to my satisfaction and it all came together all the way to the end. This was a really good book but I think reading the first two made it more understandable and meaningful. There is a little bit of everything in this story so if you like a good medieval romance with gruesome evil acts, some humor, a faithful dog, and some really crazy mad sex along with a lot good side characters, well, this is a good one!!
Rhys is the Dark Dragon and feared by all. He abducted Heather in book 1 of the series and she escaped in book 2. This time her father married her to the Dragon to save peace for the clan. Heather has no choice but to go with him to be his wife. They soon realize there is more between them than a brokered marriage, but the Dark Dragon has an enemy with a plan for revenge. This book is action packed with a bit of mystery. I loved the characters, although Heather’s sister Patience is even more arrogant and obnoxious than she was in book 2. Not sure how her husband Hunter can tolerate her. Fantastic series.
Wow ..loved it so much..Now Donna fletcher is my favorite author.love this series.happy for Emma when Rogan fall in love with her ..only Patience tested my patience my god..Hunter was not really our ordinary hero ..it was all Patience (i feel if it was real ..sure they would have divoice ) lol.. Adored Heather and Rhys story..Heather was perfect for the dark dragon..feel sorry for what he endured when he was a slave ..tear my heart. Like Emma was perfect for Rogan..
I just finished reading the three books of this series.
It was hard to put any of these books down. I read all three in two days. Well written with great characters. Twists and turns that you do not see coming. A very enjoyable read! I highly recommend this series and author! Each book ended with an HEA for that couple but the over all story arc carried on from book one to three. Read them you will not be disappointed! SQ
Donna is a brilliant author...one I consider in the top few for writing a story that keeps you turning page after page with full on action with twists, turns and romance...secrets,hidden pasts...and full on typical of the times wars... I have managed to binge read 2 series and now off to start another one...
It was an okay okay book for me .. Not good..not bad .few things were interesting.. Few were really stupid..really ridiculous.some The emotions..the love..it wasn't portrayed beautifully.. My expectations for Heather, Fell low..she was only afraid until she saw dragon's face..and then..nothing . Patience's character was true till end. .. Emma and Heather not so much.
I wasn't sure I was going to like this one as much, but I really did. It is totally obvious what is going on even when the main character won't admit to it, but that doesn't detract from the story and the relationship between the 2 main characters. I wish there were more in this series.
Would definitely recommend. These stories were well written and I was anxious to read each one. The build up to the finale was great. The passion was not and sexy and I enjoyed each one.
This is a good ending to this series. Heather deserves to get what she always wanted and eventually she does. Rhys is a complex character that has many layers. I like how this book knits together all the loose ends. A grand adventure!
This was book 3 in the series, but can be read as a stand-alone.
I read this book in one sitting. From the start, the story kept me fully engaged, page after page. The story is filled with mystery, danger, evil villains and plenty of romance.
It’s not bad, I just didn’t enjoy as much as other Donna Fletcher books. My problem was that I felt the romance between the MCs was lukewarm and not believable. Hero wasn’t celibate during separation even after he gained his freedom.
Great ending for the series. Heather finally returns home just to find out her father gave her to marriage to the man she ran from the dark dragon . With secrets around for her and her husband she is determined to learn his secrets and to take the dragon
Another book that is classic Donna Fletcher, love it the first and still enjoyed it second, as always all characters fit together perfectly, including the wolf
Killing off a part of himself in order to survive cruelty, Rhys was truly afraid to let Quinn out again. The love of his wife, Heather freed him to embrace all of himself and his past. This historical romance is my favorite in the three 📚 book series
Reading The series i just wanted to get to this book. And what is guess from the beginning was correct. Also this was the one book without character name typos.
