Every chance I get, I go to watch the local fights. I crave the excitement and the rush as it courses through my body, with the sounds of fists meeting flesh.
It’s not just the blood or the hard bodies that keeps me coming back each time, wanting more. It’s Jace ‘King’ Kash and his artic blue eyes. He has fists made of steel with a body honed for speed. He’s breathtaking to watch in the cage. The King easily brings men to their knees, and then graciously helps them up when he’s finished.
Getting introduced to him was thrilling, falling in love with him, unexpected. Jace comes pounding through, waking my mind and body up; showing me what I was missing out on in my life. He makes me realize what I could have and that what doesn’t destroy me, will eventually make me stronger.

Illusions, life is full of them. My life wasn’t always like it is now, how it appears from the outside. I was drowning in drugs, gangs and in my brother’s bad decisions. So, I did what I do best, I fought my way out. I keep fighting, using every asset I have and attempting to get as far away from my past as possible.
Chyna enters into my life right as I’m prepping for the biggest fight of my existence. I wasn’t looking for any new distractions, but she becomes my personal drug of choice, begging me to use her. Unfortunately, Chyna’s not the only person that show’s up out of the blue.
When my past decides to go after my girl, it’s my turn to make it rain, to make it hurt. I refuse to let it destroy me this time, dragging her down in the process. I just hope she can make it through the last round beside me and not forfeit.
Once that bell rings, watch out, because I will come for you, I will hunt you down and fight to the death. I’m the King, I won’t be defeated.

DNF. 21 pages in and I can't do it anymore. It's too stupid. It's like reading a book written by a Jersey Shore member. Too much vernacular and not enough substance of any kind. My brain can't take it. I'd watch Vh1 if I wanted to listen to Sammi "Sweetheart"'s inner monologue. DNF.

Time and time again, Sapphire Knight blows me away with her writing! Unexpected Forfeit is the first MMA novel in her new Ground and Pound series! Just like her mafia men and bad boy bikers, Sapphire delivered another KO with Jace "King" Kash!
The chemistry Jace and Chyna have is refreshing! The flirting, humor and deep passion they share jumps off the pages...I could not put this book down. I especially love how realistic the characters are! The story flows exceptionally well, without unnecessary over descriptions. I cannot wait for more!

Unexpected Forfeit…by Author Sapphire Knight

In this story we are introduced to a world of fighting, not only for titles, but for love and freedom. Freedom from the past. In Chyna’s case she’s fighting abandonment issues with an ex who was more interested in drugs and his next high than the woman at his side fighting for him daily.
Through this ex-relationship she’s learned about dishonesty, cheating, lying and being used and abused. Not physically, but emotionally she’s damaged and doesn’t believe in love or relationships…at least not past one-night variety. She’s not looking for forever when she meets Jace, or in the MMA world known as ‘King’.
King—Jace, is just as damaged from his past…only not from a romantic relationship, but from parental relationships. A mom who only wants her son’s for what they can get her...she is an addict, and love isn’t anything she shares with her children. Jace has a brother, Jacob who’s evil to his core, uses his brother for funds and uses Jace’s love and loyalty to him against him for his wants and needs.
This couple is enamored with each other upon first sight…Chyna is King’s biggest supporter in the ring...where there he is the King. That is his world and he’s in charge there. She goes to his fights religiously, even not knowing him personally she is his biggest supporter. She likes to see before fight interviews and pick the biggest jerks and makes sure they’re not on her approved list of winners. Jace the ‘King’ is her dream. A dream she’s determined to keep just that. Only her best-friend is dating her best-friend, which means inevitably…they meet. When they do, she can’t get herself out of the fan fog, and has to bring herself back out, she is consistently getting lost in her day-dreams and meeting him hasn’t changed any of that.
‘King’ Jace, wants Chyna, at first just for a romp between the sheets, only a group weekend away lands these two into spending a lot of time alone. Their attraction turns to friendship, that when they get home leads to Jace realizing he will do anything to make Chyna his. Chyna also realizes that she’s his as well, and begs him not to abandon her as everyone else in her life has. That’s right, Chyna has been abandoned by everyone, including those who should love her the most.
This story reminds you love is worth the fight. Keep fighting for love with Jace and Chyna as we watch their romance bloom and they learn to trust, love and fight for what they want.
I have to say, MMA is not my genre….I know nothing on the subject, but Sapphire never made me feel that way. She makes you feel in the moment and as if you are an expert in the subject. Thank you for sharing the love of your husbands sport and introducing us to a world most of us know nothing about. Your way of genre knowledge astounds me…Thank you Sapphire. 5 star review and two thumbs up!

This was a fast paced ride!!!!
Jace is a well known MMA fighter and a very handsome man. When Chyna comes to one of his fights, he immediately notices her. The attraction is instant but Jace is hesitant to start something serious with a woman since he is so focused on his career.
Chyna has had a crush on Jace for quite a while. Not aware that he has noticed her, she tries to be around him. Thanks to her best friend Aria, she comes to realize that maybe Jace has a thing for her as well. Follow them into this humorous and fun ride as they try to get closer.
I liked that the book was light. Chyna is a vivacious heroine while Jace a strong athlete. Their banter was funny and sexy.
While I enjoyed the book, I found myself a bit disappointed by the character development. Chyna's inner thoughts read a bit immature to me but on the other hand she had a rough past. I would have liked a bit more depth into that aspect of her character. I think that would have made the book a bit more solid.
There are sexy moments in the book that will make your heart beat faster but something was missing to make this book memorable. If you want something light and fun, then give this book a go.

Hot fast paced read
Jace is an MMA fighter with a soft side, so swoon worthy, loved Jace.
Not a great upbringing or good family life Jace entered the fighting world as an escape from gang lifestyle although it doesn't go into depth of his background or how he got to where he is just grazed over the to know details, I feel if it had it would of been more of an emotional read allowing you to bond more with the characters.
Chyna loves MMA fighting goes to watch Jace fight whenever she can with her friend who is dating his sparing partner. Chyna has the hots for Jace and her dreams come true when he asks her out although her cheating ex makes her edgy at commitment.
I'ts a quick read, jumps weeks to months in chapters focusing on the end result of a hea, it does have lol moments with humour and witt and is a good read with hot moments.
All books have their shelf some deep meeningful, grit reads,heartwarmers and tear jerkers I found this to be a good quick mma fighter romance fix.

I received an ARC of Unexpected Forfeit by Sapphire Knight for an honest 5 star review.
I LOVE everything Sapphire Knight has ever published and this one is no exception. This is the first MMA book she has written and I must say it is just as fantastic as her other books. It is definitely a different type of people but its written just as fantastic if not better then her other series. She still writes a fabulous story. I wouldn't expect anything less. She pulls you in with her writing and keeps you coming back for more. Makes you feel like you are right in the middle of the story. The way she writes makes you feel like she is writing just to you and you alone. Its nice to have a book with a love story and neither one cheats, lies or plays games.
Unexpected Forfeit is Chyna and Jace's story and I loved every single page. Each new book by her is better and better and I keep saying its my favorite, but as of right now this one is my favorite. While its Chyna and Jace's story, I love how she includes others and gives you a little about each person, you get to know the other people in their lives. Its nice to see someone who can write a book with multiple characters and not lose you in the process. Makes you want more and more. I look forward to more about Gavin/Aria and I would love to see something about Vivid (hint*hint).
I could go on and on about what I love about Sapphire Knight and Unexpected Forfeit, but for you to truly get what I'm talking about you just need to go and one click this book on what ever ereader you use. My Review of Unexpected Forfeit by Sapphire Knight
My Rating 5-Right Hook Stars!
Sapphire Knight continues to take me on these adventures through her stories. What a captivating story, Jace and Chyna are as explosive as C4 on the 4th of July.
Jace and Chyna’s story is gripping and full of action packed adventure. When Sapphire tells a story that you’re reading and living it all in once. I loved the characters and was drawn in from the beginning and held on punch for punch and in Sapphire Knight fashion I’m always wanting more and Jace and Chyna’s story wasn’t any different. This story had it all, Suspense, angst, hot freaking sex and a storyline only Sapphire could come up with. I highly recommend this read or any of Sapphire Knights books as when you read one of her books find a comfy spot and a good cup of Joe and “Experience” the Sapphire Journey!

Wow!! Bravo Sapphire. This book was amazing. Now it was a different path from her other series, but it was just as amazing, if not better.
Jace & Chyna "Kiki" were a force to be reckoned with. The fighting scenes were great, it was just like watching it, you were really in the cage with the guys. Jace was incredible, sexy, total alpha, & a beast in the bedroom. Chyna was a total kick ass girl, very independent & kind of hard around the edges but around Jace, she became a little softer. Can't wait for more books from this new series plus your other books!!

WOW
Okay I fell in Love with Sapphire Knight's writing when I read Forsaken Control. Her writing is so intriguing and flows well. Her characters are so well developed and the worlds she creates for us to travel are so vivid that it is like I am right there.
Unexpected Forfeit was my first MMA Novel I Know I Know I am behind lol but I assure you now that Sapphire Knight popped that cherry ;) ;) I will be devouring more so many more.
I absolutely Loved Jace's character. I loved that he came from a broken past but he did not let that determine his future he knew what he wanted out of life and he was going to achieve all of his life goals. One goal was to rise to the top of the MMA World and that he did. With the One Distraction He could not live without Chyna (Kiki). The fighting scenes was so phenomenal it was like I was watching it live or even on TV.
Chyna's (Kiki) was always a fan of Jace "The King" Kash and when her friend set her up to meet him let's just say she made an impression. Chyna was a spitfire of a character strong and independent yet vulnerable when Jace was around she had an attraction to him that was like a magnet that was pulling them together. Okay I fell in Love with Sapphire Knight's writing when I read Forsaken Control. Her writing is so intriguing and flows well. Her characters are so well developed and the worlds she creates for us to travel are so vivid that it is like I am right there.
Unexpected Forfeit was my first MMA Novel I Know I Know I am behind lol but I assure you now that Sapphire Knight popped that cherry ;) ;) I will be devouring more so many more.
I absolutely Loved Jace's character. I loved that he came from a broken past but he did not let that determine his future he knew what he wanted out of life and he was going to achieve all of his life goals. One goal was to rise to the top of the MMA World and that he did. With the One Distraction He could not live without Chyna (Kiki). The fighting scenes was so phenomenal it was like I was watching it live or even on TV.
Chyna's (Kiki) was always a fan of Jace "The King" Kash and when her friend set her up to meet him let's just say she made an impression. Chyna was a spitfire of a character strong and independent yet vulnerable when Jace was around she had an attraction to him that was like a magnet that was pulling them together. Fate had a hand in that relationship and they flipped each other's worlds upside down it the most passionate and thrilling way.

Unexpected Forfeit was fantastic! Jace the big strong MMA fighter was a marshmallow inside for Chyna. Chyna is a strong with a broken lonely heart. Together they make an amazing couple. I love Sapphire Knight's books. In this one she tells us the story of two damaged people, both from their families. Jace has risen above his family and upbringing, Chyna struggles with the being alone. Jace has got to be the yummiest person I've read about lately. He is huge, muscled, strong willed, and with Chyna he melts like butter. This book hold several of the hottest kisses EVER.
The fight scenes were so vivid it was like being cage side. I felt like a voyeur in Jace and Chyna's life with the rich details about them and surrounding them. This book had me unable to put it down for anything once I started. I was completely engrossed in the story. Robert Simmons was the perfect cover model for the book he fit the description of Jace and he looks like the kind of guy who could go marshmallow inside for the right person. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance that will hit a reader in the heart.

I loved this story. It was a great contemporary romance story about an MMA fighter. Jace rocks. I would love to be his kiki lol There were a ton of hot scenes and great hilarious scenes that had me laughing. Who doesn't love a HEA with a big badass mma fighter with a heart of gold who is as sweet as the cake he loves?
Using my 1-5 rating system of how many kleenex you need due to crying, how many times you need to change your panties, and how many asses you laugh off I give it:

There's enough action to keep this story moving and a cast of interesting characters that pull you in. The writing is descriptive and the world building strong enough to take you away (I would kill to go to the restaurant they do on their "date night"). Also the author knowing as much as she clearly does with MMA helps because its not all fun and games, the busy dedicated lifestyle someone would have to have in order to be successful is shown. Great story with a great romance!

I thoroughly enjoyed Unexpected Forfeit. It's sweet, cute, and thrilling. It's about a boxer, Jace and a girl, Chyna, whose luck with relationships is not so good. Jace and Chyna are good for each other. They complete one another. I love how the author planned out the entire story. Its a story with a sweet ending.
But somehow I expected a little more from it. For me the story was a bit fast paced. I just started the story and when I started to enjoy it, it was over. Its a quick read, yet I wanted more. The writing of this story is so good, that you get lost into the world of the characters. I just didn't want it to end.
Other than that, the story is brilliant. Its filled with fun, hope, silliness,laughter. All in all, the reader will definitely enjoy it! :)

When they finally meet after one of his matches, they have a mutual attraction to one another. Once they give in to their feelings for one another, their past comes back to haunt them. Lets be honest for a moment....I was a bit apprehensive into starting this book. I've read all of Sapphires books and I really wasn't a fan. They were good...just ok. Then I read Forsaken Control...It was an eye opener...I LOVED IT! I didn't even think I was reading the same author. This made me nervous...yet hopeful that UNEXPECTED FORFEIT would do the same and FC wasn't a fluke...
I am glad to report that it was EXACTLY what I hoped for story wise. To the point where after I was done, I messaged the author and told her I loved it and expressed what parts I loved the most...Which I wont add in here because I don't do spoilers or plot rundowns...READ THE BOOK!
Chyna and Jace were great characters, (although in the beginning Chyna's inner monologues at the fight were a bit...ehh) This was a love story more than anything I think. Two people, one couple overcoming their pasts to try and find where they fit. Chyna especially, anyone would understand her apprehension toward a relationship given her past. What makes me SO happy is that Sapphire didn't feed the angst monster by using that as a plot point, even though at times I thought she might. She stayed true to the character and kept their love pure and solid.
What I need to know is: When will we get Gavin's story??
This is my Confession: I've said in the past that I am a converted fan and this TRULY solidifies that that was a good decisions. Well played, Sapphire.

5 pretty sure I want to be Kiki stars! What a wonderful and beautiful story!! Kiki and Jace are book magic!!
Jace hasn’t had the greatest life, so he entered the fighting world. His world revolves around fighting and training, not much else. That is until Chyna, AKA Kiki walks into his life. And flips everything he knows upside down. Chyna has the hots for Jace and goes to watch him fight whenever she can. Her life is made when Jace asks her out on a date. But because of her past relationship with a cheating ex, she has severe trust issues. Will that be the demise of her relationship with Jace, the man of her dreams??
This book is a quick, fun read! You can’t help but fall in love with Jace and all his sexiness. And well Kiki is definitely a force to be reckoned with. This book is a fast pace read and you aren’t ever bored. It jumps in time from weeks to months, but that doesn’t effect the story in anyway.

I love me a great MMA story, and Jace and Chyna made my heart happy. The personal demons from the past that these two faced and the willingness to open their hearts to each other when they discovered their passion and compassion for one another made this story not only more believable, but far more heartfelt. I loved how Sapphire Knight was able to capture the developing friendship, the slow and careful leap the two took to come together, and the additional troubles the two faced as they navigated their relationship. Jace and Chyna’s story is about learning to move from the past and embrace the future, to willingly allow one's self to take a risk to discover true happiness while maintaining one's own person. It is about breaking down the walls and forfeiting one's fears to allow one to live and love.
As I shared with Sapphire immediately upon finishing this fast paced read, Jace has captured my heart! He may just turn out to be your next BBF! Oh, and everyone needs to cross their fingers that Sapphire will be able to retrieve Gavin and Aria's story from her computer. This is a MMA book. Its fast paced, and Hot.
Jace "The King Kash is a MMA Fighter. Chyna works at a restaurant as a hostess and she loves watching the fights, especially Jace Kash.
The best friend of Chyna is dating Jace's best friend so she goes to the fights with them. They introduce her to Jace, and Chyna is speechless... she is zoned out on his hot body.
They meet again, and this time Chyna is more herself and they begin to hang out alot.
They both are fighters in their own way, and in more than one way.
Jace has not always been on the right side of the law but so far he is doing a great job of staying in the new life he created for himself..leaving the gang life and his dead beat family behind as much as he can.
Chyna holds back a little bit because she is afraid to love or get close to anyone because they always leave her.
This story has some hot scenes, some parts you will want to throw something or scream at the character in the story.

This is my first read by Sapphire Knight yes i know those are words never to be spoken about Sapphire Knight and I will never say them again because I will for sure be reading all of her previous books as well as anything she has to come in the future!! This book had me from beginning to end!
The chemistry between King and Chyna is off the charts. They both have issues with relationships because of their past. This book was a wild and crazy ride. But they arent the only ones who are keeping themselves from finding a HEA.
I loved how Sapphire also included other characters adn gave you a little about each one of them. It made me more invested in the story and wanting to know if this character or that will end up with their own book.
Cant wait to see and read what Sapphire has next because I know I will be reading them!

Chyna and Jace are perfectly matched. She’s a bit wild and an MMA fan. He’s strong, yet sweet and gentle enough to hold onto her and “King” of the cage. Their relationship isn’t instantaneous; it develops at a decent pace which helps the reader understand their coming together. Both have a past and insecurities that need to be resolved. As they get to know each other and build their relationship, things are perfect until someone from Jace’s past appears.
As they say, the past will always come and bite you in the behind.

I've just finished reading this newest book from this author and all I have to say is I completely loved this book just as much as the others. It's so refreshing to read a book with characters that don't cheat, or lie while being with the one they say they love. The story line always keeps you turning the page wanting to know more without all the drama you usually get in these sort of books. Thank you Sapphire Knight for this book & all the rest of the Oath Keepers MC & the Russkaya Mafiya Novels you are awesome!!!

I have now found a new book boyfriend! Jace, although is a MMA fighter and bad ass has the sweetest side to him that makes your heart melt. He wasn’t looking for love and you know what happens when you aren’t looking, you find it. I love the way he and Chyna, the leading lady interact. They have an easy going relationship and a lot of chemistry. I loved the humor, the back stories of both of the characters, the heated romantic moments and the devotion that they have for each other.

He is used to women throwing themselves at him and Chyna is the opposite, not that she doesn't want to, but she has more respect for herself. Soon she starts to mean more to Jace then he expected and with the fight of his life coming up, she can be the one to help him win!

Sapphire Knight has done it again, and I love it. This time it's MMA fighter Jace 'King' Kash. He's working his way up to a title fight but he never thought he would find Chyna along the way. Chyna has been a fan of Jace's for a while now. Chyna is full of spunk and loves to keep people guessing what she's going to do next. When they have the chance to send a few days together they can't get enough of each other. My absolute favorite line in the book is 'would you let me keep you if I wanted to'. Jace is a sweet heart you can't help but love when he says stuff like this.

What a great read. I have read Sapphires previous books from a different series and reading this newest book of hers just proves that she is growing as an author. She knows how to pull in a reader and she had me pulled in from the start of this book. As usual she gives us a great story line and awesome characters. If you have read any of Sapphires books do yourself a favor and read this one you will NOT be disappointed.

Their love story is adventurous, sweet, demanding of my attention and completely blissful with a giant helping of sexy chemistry! I loved seeing Sapphire Knight start a new series in a different genre, because it shows how talented she truly is with her words. I'm excited to see what she comes up with next!

Chyna has the biggest crush on the fight named Jace. She loves watching him fight and can't help but want him in her life. Jace wants her right back. He is all alpha so he loves her big and wants to protect her from all that he knows from his past. I love that he not only fights in the ring, but will fight for her with all he is. I so enjoyed their story.
