Hamish "Goblin" McBride fights his own battles and those of the ones he loves with everything that he has to give, and while that makes him an amazing man, son, and friend, it also forces him to keep secrets...to live his life for those around him not for himself. But Lori Walker is someone he wants just for himself, and even if he can only have her as a friend, he'll look out for her and protect her from her fears because that's the kind of man he is.

Ever since meeting Hamish in the previous books of Amity Cross’ The Beat and the Pulse series, I’ve wanted to know what’s beneath that fighter exterior and the demons he hides behind his eyes, unwilling to weigh down anyone else with his bullshit, going it alone because that’s how it’s always been. As hard as people try, Hamish won’t change who he is, and because he’s bound to the city where his mom is, he refuses any other kind of life and any other kind of fighting than what he gets in the Underground.

Lori Walker may work in the Underground, but she wants nothing to do with fighters - not since one stomped on her heart and forced her to build walls to keep from being hurt again. But there’s something about Hamish that makes her reach out to him, as a friend, in order to lend an ear or hang out with someone who has no expectations of him.

It’s hard to remain in the friend zone, though, because there’s definitely an intense attraction between them, but both Hamish and Lori are afraid to open themselves up…afraid to give someone a piece of themselves, only for it to be destroyed. But that line that they are struggling not to cross is getting thinner and thinner, and when there’s nothing left of it, it’s hard to say if they’ll come out unscathed or return to the way things used to be before they caught each other’s eye.

Flow illustrates what happens when two damaged souls find their way to one another and learn to take things how they come. Both Hamish and Lori have spent such a long time fighting their own battles that they never stopped to think that there was a way for them to do better…a way for them to not feel so alone, but to do that, they have to take a risk…they have to allow someone else to fight for them, which for two very independent people poses problems, but it also gives them hope and a sense that everything’s going to work out.

Review:
“Reaching over, I wiped my thumb across her lip, dislodging the noodle. Of course, I began thinking about her mouth and what I could do to it. Her eyes widened slightly as I let my touch linger a little longer than was appropriate, and my gaze dropped.”

5 Goblin stars!!! I don’t think I can fall deeper in love with a series, than I am with this one!

Look there’s a few authors I love and I’m not afraid to say so. But Amity Cross’ books, I will drop everything I’m doing and start reading. This goes double for The Beat and the Pulse series!!! So when this landed on my kindle I knew I was in for one heck of a book!!! And I wasn’t disappointed!!! I fell in love with Goblin and Lori…. This whole story was so unique and sexy as (well you know what). I started this book in the morning and finished an hour later…. I couldn’t put this book down…. I loved every page, character, moment and second!!! It’s perfect!

I absolutely love how real and frank Amity's writing is. The brutal honesty of the words she uses to creat stories. The effortless flow of the story and how you just want to get to the end to know what happens. You feel with these characters, its like you could reach out and touch them.
As we delve back into the characters from the underground anticipation blooms with every sentence we get of Hamish's story. I have been waiting for you Hamish, and you haven't disappointed.

In his world Hamish hasn't needed anyone before and doesn't need them now

" Anger and annoyance and all the emotions I'd been trying to control began to mix together and bubble like s beaker full of unstable chemicals... chemicals that were about to blow. Turning, I strode away from my best mate, knowing that if I let him prod any more, I'd punch the sh*t right out of him for no good reason other then he'd poked to hard.

You know where to find me, he called out after after me, but I'd already stopped listening.
I didn't need anyone's help. I never had, and never will."

Oh you silly silly Irishman. Watching an accomplished fighter, a grown man buckle under the shi#*y hand life has thrown him is sad and gritty and seeing a gentle compassionate protective strong stubborn man wade his way through the friend zone is refreshing and sometimes awkward, but not in a bad way. I think it helps his character develop just that little bit more.

Lori is a spirited tatted up punk who I felt was more real to me then the perfect manicured princesses like Josie. I think that's because I myself am not a girly girl. Hamish and Lori together are a perfect match. Their chemistry is bright in both lust and friendship. I felt building their foundations on misguided friendship contributed to their strong bond and how intensely they felt things when it came to each other, be it the lust, the pain or the frustration, thy both felt it to their core. This couple, they were simply real.

I love how Amity injects previous characters into her stories, may it be a very minor part, it is still there and keeps us loving all the characters. The glimpses we get into future characters keeps the intrigue for the series alive.

As we approach the end of this series I'll be sad to say goodby but also excited to learn what Amity gives us in the future. But don't be sad there is still a bit more to come.

I gave this book 5 Stars!

This is the 6th book in this series, and can be read as a stand alone. From the first word to the last word you will be hooked. Hamish is a tattooed, Alpha male, that fights in The Underground. Hamish lives a double life. He has his fighting career and then he has his other life of taking care of his sick ma. Lori is a tattooed, has a wall of steal around her heart and is a bar tender at The Underground. When Hamish meets Lori for the first time, he is wanting to forget a bad break up and Lori offers him a friend. As time goes on both Lori and Hamish start relize they have feeling for each other. When one of the puts everything on the line, will the other share how they feel too or will they walk away?

Hamish and Lori chemistry is off the charts and you will feel so many emotions through out this book. The secondary characters will make you laugh out loud and be like 'I don't want to mess with him'.This story line really tugged at my heart.

I can't wait to read more from this author.

Flow The Beat and The Pulse #6
Amity Cross
5 Underground Stars

We are back at The Underground with HAMISH! YES! First let me say I was thrilled with the first few pages of the book --- If you know who HAMISH was messing with then you know why. Not really a spoiler but you get probably what happened since this is Lori and his story and not someone else's. Don't worry ... Revenge is sweet later on in the book .... YES!

Hamish Goblin McBride has secrets ... A part of his life no one knows about; not even Ash. The boys know something is bothering him but they don't push. He fights The Underground and is the king. Refusing to go pro he stays in the ring that is blood stained by the opposition he has put down. Ash and Rebel help him hang on to his sanity as does Pulse Fitness ... It's where he climbs out of the dark of the past five years he has been using his fist to make the money he needs. Hamish at 32 wants more for himself but that means bringing along his baggage and no worthy woman would want that.

Lori Walker has worked behind the bar at The Underground for what seems like forever. She will never get involved with another fighter .. Not after what Storm did to her. The bar is the barrier between she and the men she steers clear of now .... So why did she go and talk to him ... Why didn't she walk the other way. And why is her past coming back in the form of a nightmare.

If you love series about fighters this is your series. The characters are written so in depth you feel that you know them intimately. The story lines are heartbreaking and brilliant with each character fighting their own battles outside the ring. I love the brutal mentality of The Underground and the grit inside Pulse Fitness. This series could go on forever and it wouldn't be enough for me.

This is an excellent addition to the Beat series. The book can be read as a standalone but I have no idea why you would want to do that. Why would you want to miss Ash, Ren, and the rest of the crew? I absolutely LOVE these characters. We get mention of Cole and Ryan along with Josie for sure. Dean is coming ... And I can't wait. Thank you for the ARC Amity! HAMISH is set to become your favorite of the boys yet. Promise.

This is a definite must read!

Hamish McBride is an MMA fighter who has been seeing his girlfriend Josie off and on for a few years. At his best friend’s wedding Josie decides to publicly end it and sends a depressed and pissed off Hamish to a local bar to get drunk. Lori has been working at The Underground, a fighter bar, for a while and has always had a bit of a crush on Hamish aka Goblin but hasn’t ever really talked to him and having sworn off fighters keeps her from perusing anything. When Hamish comes in clearly upset Lori offers him friendship and Hamish decides even though the attraction is clearly there to give being friends with a woman a try… but that friendship quickly becomes so much more.

I love that this book is so fast paced, I didn’t want to put it down. Lori is hilarious and I love the backbone on her. I was a bit put off by the way Lori was almost a totally different person in her head then she was on the outside, it was a bit confusing at times and is the reason I’m giving a 4 instead of a 5 star rating. Other than that, this is a great read and I look forward to more from this series!

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Beat (The Beat and the Pulse, #1)
Pulse (The Beat and the Pulse, #2)
Crash (The Beat and the Pulse #3)
Spike (The Beat and the Pulse #4)
Steel (The Beat and the Pulse #5)

This is Lori and Hamish’s story. Hamish is an underground fighter that leads two lives. He lives as the fighter for everyone to see and in private the one who takes care of his sick mother. These two start their relationship out as friends but the chemistry between them is out of control. What happens when one wants more and decides to tell the other? Will they get pushed away? Lori has built walls around her heart to protect herself. But what happens when the past comes for her? Will she be able to protect herself or will she need Hamish?

I recommend this book.

ARC received for an honest review

This is the 6th book in this series, but all can be read as stand alones (though why would you want to miss out on all the goodness??)

We are back in The Underground, this time with Hamish "Goblin" McBride - sexy, tattooed Irish fighter with a heart of gold. He's a mountain of a man and pretty much an island.

He's got secrets, a double life of s0rts. And never the twain shall meet.

Until Lori Walker comes into his life.

I adored Lori. She's a take no crap lady who will give you the middle finger rather than give you the time of day if you get on her wrong side.

And so begins an unlikely friendship, but with the chemistry and sparks flying between these two, it can only be a matter of time before they become more... or is it?

I just love Hamish and Lori together - they just get each other.

Of course the road to love and relationships is never smooth and our lovelies have their fair share of road blocks to contend with. But do they get there - that's why you have to read for yourself!

I love this series, and feel that every book just gets better.

Now Ms Cross, what will you have for us next??

This series just keeps getting better and better.
I was beginning to wonder what we got a peak under the surface of Hamish, after all he has been around The Underground for a while and has popped up in previous stories but while I think you can read this as standalone …almost I would give the previous stories some of your time and attention because there are some elements of interlinking that help to bring aspects of this story to life.
So Hamish, Oh Boy! Or should I say Oh Man because at 32 he has had more than his fair share of life experiences and not only inside the ring. Much of Hamish is the unknown, he plays his cards very close to his chest and has so far managed to keep from everyone, including Ash. But for how much longer?
He knew the guys were beginning to cotton on to the fact that he wasn’t himself but they respected him enough to almost keep their thought to themselves. In the ring, Hamish is absolutely ruthless, but with issues from the past continuing to hang heavy over his head and while he is doing everything he can to make the cash he needs to keep his demons at bay, he just seemed to be so lonely, I got that he didn’t want to burden anyone with what he had going on but I worried for his mental stability, after all how far was he willing to bury himself…and despite the support of Ash and Rebel, I felt he was so insular that I couldn’t help but worry as to whether or not he would ever allow himself to find any semblance of happiness.
Lori spent her life surrounded by the fighters at The Underground, she worked the bar and was an ear to many of them but she had one rule…don’t date them. She learnt her lesson the hard way when she was f**ked over by Storm and you know that old saying, once bitten twice shy!
But could she avoid the pull of Hamish?
Could she keep to her self-imposed isolation from the guys or should I say more specifically from the one guy that was making his way under her skin?
Of all the guys so far I would have to say that Hamish has been my favourite and I don’t say that lightly because he has some stiff competition, Amity Cross knows how to write a solid alpha male as getting to the top of the pile is not an easy task.
Lori and Hamish will have you rooting for them all the way and while their story is fabulous the I think I just found it more effective within the content of the whole series, taking The Underground and Pulse Fitness as an entirety means that I have been truly able to indulge in what can only be said is one of the best fighter series that I have ever read and I am so pleased that it isn’t over yet…woohoo we have Dean to come and I can’t wait!

"The world didn't wait for the brokenhearted. It just got busy rotating around the sun and didn't pause for an insignificant speck that served piss behind a long bench of germ encrusted wood."

Lori is the girl behind the bar at The Underground, with a blue streak in her hair and tattoos covering her body in her story. Having had her heart trampled by a fighter in the past she has perfected the blase front of a woman who is just not interested. A man drowning his sorrows in cheap alcohol is a common occurrence for Lori yet when Hamish washes up at her bar her heart strings are immediately pulled.

Hamish is solitary, lone man mountain of a world of pain and burden. His motivation to fight in The Underground is a secret he carries into every bout. Struggling with the cards fate has dealt him he feels unable to share his heavy load with anyone. So when Lori extends an offer of friendship she sparks something within him. A slow burns begins for the both of them as the past has taught them both lessons to be wary of trusting others. But can the love story of Hamish and Lori have a happy ever after?

Flow is the sixth in the series and continues to build the sense of family, friendship and belonging which is the undercurrent in this series. The characters from other books make an appearance as The Pulse gym is the heart of their make shift family. The story of Hamish is one I have been eagerly waiting for as he is a good guy in a bad place and I was intrigued to find out what made him tick. The truth behind the man is heart breaking and the weight of the world is truly on his shoulders. Lori is a feisty yet insecure leading lady that is the perfect match for Hamish. Ballsy when needed and tough yet feminine she is the broken pieces of his shattered heart.

Flow is another five star addition to this series.

As soon as I saw that Flow was Hamish's story, I couldn't wait to read it! I've been wanting to read his for as long as I can remember and oh my GOSH, it did NOT disappoint. It was utterly, utterly amazing and I wholeheartedly loved, loved, LOVED it!!

I loved Lori right from the get-go - she's funny and kind of like sarcastically sassy and she doesn't take any crap from anyone. She's a tough cookie to be sure, but she's actually really sweet, calm, and gentle too. There's just something soothing about where you feel like you could tell her anything and she would listen, not judge you, and give you advice. Lori is strong, courageous, patient, and understanding - she's absolutely wonderful and I completely loved her!

I've always had a thing for the hot, sexy Irishman fighter and once I got into his head - I totally fell for him! He definitely has his a*shole moments and times where you want to shake him, but he's really a great guy. Hamish is protective and so loyal and devoted to who he considers family. We do hit a few speed bumps with him, but he is excellent and I have no doubts that you'll for Hamish's just like Lori and I did!

So I've been bad and haven't been reading this series in order. I fell in love with Beat and Pulse and wasn't able to pick it up again until Steel. I loved Steel but I felt like a little bit of that magic from the first two books wasn't there completely and I was a touch worried that Flow would be the same - but I shouldn't have worried because this book was pure magic. It was beautiful, heartbreaking, amusing, and entertaining. It completely sucked me in and I could hardly ever tear myself away from reading. It was an incredible book and I'm excited for the next story in the series!

Flow is a standalone told from Hamish and Lori's POV and they're happy ending will make you good sigh and warm your heart!

WOW! What an intense, and emotionally charged story! Hamish 'Goblin' McBride has secrets that he won't trust anyone with. He's a tortured soul that fights in The Underground to help ease the demons, plus he needs the money. Hamish is the king, who doesn't lose, but he refuses to go pro. He wants more in his life, but believes he has too much baggage for any woman. Lori Walker is a bartender at The Underground carrying her own heavy baggage, and she won't get involved with another fighter ever again. But there's something about Hamish that draws her in, so she goes up to talk to him. She offers him friendship, but their strong connection is soon making the friends line blurry. When Lori's past nightmare comes back to visit, and Hamish's secret revealed, will it destroy any chance of love for them?

WOW WOW WOW! Each book in this series has the ability to flip my girly girl dramatic emotion switch, but the author rose to new heights in Flow (yes I cried like a baby). The character development is fantastic, with the amazing cast of secondaries that I have already grown to love to round it out perfectly. A fast paced, heart wrenching, and well written storyline flows effortlessly. I feel like Amity Cross, with her diabolically brilliant writing style, has ripped out my heart, stomped it to pieces, and finally shoved back in stitched up. She reeled me in from the very beginning, (actually just with the title), and kept my heart racing cover to cover. The flammable chemistry EXPLODES into fiery flames of sexy scene goodness that threatened to melt my kindle. I never moved from my reading spot until I finished the very last page, and it took me a bit to process the amazingness of the story enough to write a review. Hamish has become my favorite fighter, and I loved Lori, with her crazy ways. I'll always be on the lookout for this author's new books, so it's not hard to guess that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND Flow to everyone!

Flow is the 6th book in the Beat & Pulse series but I read it as a stand alone. The author cleanly brings the intertwining storylines together.

Hamish "Goblin" McBride is a battle weary fighter at a sleazy illegal fighting club called "The Underground". He's plagued by demons long before his girlfriend dumps him at his best friend's wedding. No one knows about the battle that rages within him and all that he stands to lose. He's fierce in the cage but life is all set to deliver a knockout punch. He needs a little good in his life.

Lori Walker works as a bartender at The Underground and despite her blue hair and gritty attitude, she's been hurt, isscared of life and hides out behind the bar every night. She's seen Goblin before but seeing him drowning himself in whiskey, a first for him, draws her to him. She goes out on a limb and offers him... Friendship?! The friendship that grows between these two is lovely but tenuous and it's got more than a few threats to overcome if it's to survive.

I enjoyed the book and it's cast of characters. Hamish was a total softie wrapped up in brass knuckles, I loved him from the start. Although I haven't read all of the preceding novels in the series, I love each of the characters. All in all a great book and one eager to please fighter fans!

I absolutely loved this book!!! I literally couldn't put it down once i started because i got pulled right into the story and felt like i was actually part of the book!!!
Hamish (Goblin) is an underground fighter and is at the top of the game. He's gorgeous in everyway but he has secrets, one's that no one knows!!! When his girlfriend finishes with him at his best friends wedding, the last thing he expects is to become 'friends' with a woman!!!
Lori has worked the bar at the underground for 3 years. She has sworn off fighters after having her heart broken by Storm. But when she spots Hamish sitting at the bar with sadness in his eyes, she reaches out to him and offers him... Friendship!!!
Will their friendship grow into more? Will he finally open up about his secrets? Do they trust each other enough? Or will events rip them apart forever?
It's a brilliant story and like i mentioned, it pulls you right in and you just have to find out... What happens next!!!... And the passion between these two is compleately off the charts HOT!!! All in all a fantastic 10/10 read and i can't wait to see what is planned for the next in series!!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book through Crazy Cajun Book Addicts for an honest review.

Once again Amity Cross has given us another fighter to fall in love with in the form of Hamish Goblin McBride he's a fighter at the Underground but what no-one knows is that he also has a sick mum to take care of and after his girlfriend dumps him he tries to find the answer to his problems in the bottom of a bottle.
Lori Walker is a bartender at the Underground she's scared from her past and not one to get involved with the fighters but although her and Hamish's relationship starts off as them been just friends they soon realise they are developing feelings for each other but is Lori past about to come back to haunt her.
A fabulous addition to the Beat and Pulse series it was heartbraking to read at times but I have to say I think Hamish and Lori have become my favourite couple of the series. Definitely a series I would recommend everyone reads

This is book six in the Beat and the Pulse series. You don’t have to read them in order, but this is a really good series that you don’t want to miss out on. These are some hot MMA fighters.

Hamish is one of these fighters. He could go pro, but he needs the money he makes from The Underground. I won’t say what he needs it for, you just need to read the book. Hamish is one of the good guys. Yes, he does illegal underground fights, but he isn’t like most of the other fighters.

Josie, ugh, she did a b**** move! I really don’t like her now. I’m glad she did what she did because Lori came into the story.

Lori is a bartender at the Underground. She has walls built up because of Storm. But Hamish gets through them, even if she did say she would never be with another fighter.

If only Hamish wasn’t so stubborn and would let his walls down. He didn’t really let Lori or any of his friends in. No one knew his secrets.

This is a really good read!

This was an unexpected read. I'm not a fan of fighter books, I know shoot me! I find them predictable and boring and the fighter is always a grade A arsehole.

However, I eat my words with this book. I loved Hamish. He has a quality about him I've not see in fighters. He has a heart and yes he thinks with his dick but he soon changes when he meets Lori.

I loved the whole lets me friends routine and the way they kept going back to the raw basics of friends.

Hamish went through a lot to see what he really wanted and he wasn't foolish to not accept his mistakes.

I loved Lori. Her personality was sassy but you knew she was hiding something. She put him in his place and I loved it

So as I eat my hat, with a side of humble pie, I have to give this book five pink stars

Even though I was given this book in exchange for an honest review, I AM going to read the others in the series. So excuse me if I don't review for a while.

I will review the other and I will buy them too.

Eek!! I have been looking forward to this one and it didn't disappoint! 'Flow' is Amity Cross at her best in combining the best elements of the series into this awesome read.

Hamish has the weight of the world on his shoulders and no-one to share the burden. Fighting at the Underground is his outlet and his financial security. Getting publicly dumped sends him into a downward spiral and into Lori's path. She offers something no-one else has, a shoulder to lean on and someone to talk to. Whether they can stay friends will be a real test for both of them as they fight their growing attraction.

You totally feel for Hamish throughout as he struggles with the care of his mother under difficult circumstances. This was a more emotional read and I felt connected to these characters. This is a definite must read!!

Reading a story by this author is liking hanging with your friends. Her writing is real and believable. Flow is not exception and it will draw you in like you are in an MMA match and dance around you until you least expect it and then it will knock you on your butt and have your adrenaline pumping. The characters of the underground are back and better than ever. This is the story of Hamish and even though his love life starts out a little on the rough side, he gets his chance at love if he decides to work for it. Love the passion that pours from the pages of this book. Such a terrific read and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND each and every book in this series. You will not be disappointed!

Hamish McBride AKA Goblin is the best man for his friend, Ash, at his wedding. He's dancing with his on again/off again girlfriend, Josie. Josie has been in Melbourne with the AUFC. She's been promoting the current fighters and acting as their manager so they don't see each other much. They end up breaking up at the wedding when Hamish sees something he isn't aware of. He leaves and hits the bar to find someone to screw the thought of Josie out of his mind. Things after that turn around and he doesn't know which way is up anymore. Can a bartender that works at The Underground help him see which way is up by befriending him? Find out this and more in this MUST READ!!!!

I fell absolutely head over heart in love and lust with Hamish. This simply delicious Irish man who begins with a breakup and ends up finding his heart when he least expects it and needs it the most. I also loved Lori. This smart and sassy girl who is his perfect match. My heart broke for both of them for what they had gone through and are going through. Especially Hamish and his momma. Oh my heart. I so enjoyed their story.

I give Flow 5 hearts!

Another great story

This story touched my heart so much. (Spoiler alert) I cared for my own father the last year of his life before he passed away from cancer. This story had me tearing up because I understand the struggles of caring for an ill parent. Even though Hamish was an asshole to Lori and held everything in like a typical male, this story had me so emotionally attached to Hamish that I could relate to his feelings. What a great read. Five kudos to Ms. Cross*****

I have not read any of the previous stories in this series, but I was able to pick this right up and read.
This story takes place in Australia, so there may be a few terms that are different than what we use in America.
Well written, easy read with no cliffhangers, no cheating, and no crazy dark moments. Could have been a little steamier!

Irish Beefcake

Hamish and Lori had a great story. I like that Hamish is not into sleeping around and he takes care of his mother. I like when a book couple has more time together as a couple which is why I had to take away one star.

Not anything special.

It was a fast read a lot of filler not enough story. Really a disappointment. Not worth the price read in two hours. Hope the next one is better.
