Vane Weston is ready for battle. Against Raiden’s army. Against the slowly corrupting Gale Force. Even against his own peaceful nature as a Westerly. He’l

YOU KNOW that really annoying thing when you know something is a bad idea but your brain is still like dooooo it. Yeah thats me about reading this book

(this art is by walkingnorth on tumblr!)

ANYWAY me and this series have a pretty rocky relationship. The characters annoyed me so much in book 1, but I stayed in it for the plot. In book 2 the characters got better but the plot fell off. And book 3 ..... everything just burned.

I wanted to read this series because it's basically Avatar: Th

Update #1: Praying that there won't be a cover change like a certain series! *cough* Across the Universe *cough*

Update #2: My prayers weren't answered... The new cover looks fine, but the originals looked so much nicer! Whyyyyyy *cries*

This was such a great conclusion. It always held my attention with its constant action. A full review will be coming, but it's needless to say that this series is one of my favorite trilogies out there!

"I have a square head?" Vane asks.

I had to use a quote from probably my favourite character and why not one where you can witness his sass.

3 stars for this conclusion so far, because at first I might have rated it even a little lower.

I don't think conclusions help me this year. In other cases it's my too high expectations. In this case, I just felt indifferent t

I wasn't too wow-ed by the first two books, but I flew through them which made it easier. This one on the other hand...

Maybe it's because 2016 just hasn't been a very good reading year so far, maybe it's because I decided that life's too short for crappy books, maybe it's because this book simply is really badly written...

I mean, c'mon... the plot's so thin it's almost non-existent. The characters are two-dimensional at best, but mostly they're just shells of gender

OMG NEW COVER YAAASSS. Normally I HATE cover redesigns, but I am seriously down with these. I think they show the spirit and strength of the series more than the previous fluffy covers, as pretty as they were.

I was going to rate this two stars, because I got sick of all the violence, torture, and tiny dresses—but the way they (view spoiler) was pretty clever, so three. I was reading this series to preview for my ten-year-old who is a fan of the author, and my final answer is . . . no way! ...more
I feel like this series got better as more books were written. Shannon Messenger is just incredible.
March 9, 2020 review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐this was a great ending of the Sky Fall series! I loved how the entire book was packed with action from the beginning to the end. Audra was super courageous in this book, and I loved how she kept persevering even though she watched her best friend die. The ending of this book just made me sigh. It was so perfect. Overall, this book was incredibly amazing, and super hard

Picture perfect ending to a precious series. I read the first two books in this trilogy way back in middle school, so I'm in full-blown nostalgia mode right now. I miss these sort of books; adventure, action, innocent romance, and an HEA guarantee. ...more

3.5 stars. It was a good read. Good, not great. I would still recommend it when one is looking for a time killer.

The good:
Vane grew up a lot in this book. He isn't as whiney and he definitely learned to take charge. The climax was as expected. There weren't any weird twists that made you leap out of your seat with manic frustration, nor was there anything that broke the author/reader contract. I actually liked the turn of events with Arella too.

Now for the gripes:

I really liked this book because of all the emotions in it. My favorite is Vane because he is super powerful and he is caring and loving and he never gives up. My favorite weapon in the book is the wind spike because it is super powerful and strong.

Loved it

I loved the book so much. It was very exciting. I could never put the book down. I think everyone should read this book.
Jessica (Books: A true story)
The characters are my favorite thing about this series. The plot was a little lacking in this third book. No twists. No turns. No surprises. It was a good plot it just didn't have that wow factor. The first book was the best, but you'll want to know what happens to these characters despite the plot getting lamer as it goes.

Vane still has a great, sarcastic voice with some self-deprecating humor. The romance didn't have the spark that I remember them having in the other books but I still really

Gus and Audra are prisoners of Raiden in his almost inescapable fortress. Most consider escape impossible, but Aston already did it, and he left Audra a clue. If only she can figure it out before Raiden tortures her and Gus to death for the Westerly language. Meanwhile, though Audra broke their bond, Vane has not given up on her. He's gathered Arella, Solana, and Aston to help him figure out a plan to rescue Gus and Audra. He thought he'd have the Gales too, but Os and he are having a difference ...more

Ugh. I'm so happy this mess is over.

It really makes me sad how much I disliked this series. I love Keepers to death and was expecting a grand YA adventure in this series.

Instead I got the usual YA tropes...

...with a male protag.

Honestly, this book brought nothing new. Sure there were a few twists and a few of the jokes were a little funny but it suffers from the typical issues that YA has.

Especially the useless female protag trope. I was begging, begging for Audra to show off the amazing skills

Fabulous, amazing, incredible. Shannon Messenger is an immeasurably great author. The next J.K. Rowling, I would say. There's no time for a full content rating, but 13+ advised and check with your parents if you're younger than 15. This is a brilliant ending to the series.

I must admit I read this series in two days, and I wish I'd taken my time. It was just so good I couldn't put it down!

(view spoiler)
If I thought book 2 was disappointing, imagine what Let the Wind Rise is... First of all, what is with the unnecessary cover change? The original covers were okay, but this looks like a Percy Jackson cover. Vane is not Percy Jackson no matter how hard you try, Shannon Messenger. Second of all, Audra is officially no longer interesting. I try not to think about her anymore. Vane tries to be funny but fails and ends up sounding really stupid. Honestly, Gus was the only good character.

Sorry Shanno

Hollow darkness, blinding light

Both have to share.

Another calm, another storm

Calls of peace, violent swarms

It’s never fair.

Hush now

Rest your wings

Sleep now

Close your eyes and let the wind sing

And be miles away
