Petyr has never found it necessary to consider the humans as anything more than distant, inferior beings–until now. They are the cause of the fatal disease that has plagued his realm, taking the lives of too many of his kind. As a future leader of a realm in peril, Petyr must find a way to resist and cure the afflict

I enjoyed this romantic YA fantasy.

Petyr meets Scarlett at university and falls instantly in love with her. Only thing is he isn’t exactly human. He is a being who lives in another realm and has been sent to monitor the humans. He goes against his mission and his entire race when he admits to Scarlett who and what he really is. She accepts him and returns his love, however he neglects to inform her of a darkness to his form. Something extremely dangerous to both of them The Forbidden.

1. A strong, sharp heroine who has a voice, isn't selfish but isn't a Mary Sue, and doesn't fall in love the hero ONLY because of his good looks (and doesn't keep annoyingly repeating how good looking he is). description

2. A complex, sensitive hero who is mysterious and appealing, but doesn't have to be an anti-social asshole about it. Who has epic love for the heroine, but doesn't have to be a creepy, controlling stalker. Someone who recognises the strengt

I read this based on Holly's recommendation on Goodreads and simply because the cover is extremely appealing. Just look at it, isn't it stunning? I love the colors and the beautiful sky and EVERYTHING. I didn't really know what to expect from this book but because Holly loved it so much I had hopes for it to be really, really good! Sadly, I didn't like it as much as I hoped I would. *sigh*

Everything was a bit confusing - I don't think the words (like Corta, Exir,

I received an ARC when I signed up to host the book tour. I made no guarantee of a favorable review.

What an amazingly romantic story. I honestly had a hard time putting this book down once I started to read it. You will find yourself falling in love with the male character Petyr who was mysterious and sounded dreamy and he wasn't vain! The author's abilities to pull you in with her world building, well developed story line and strong characters will quickly sweep you off your feet. This is also

Petyr-frigging-Crest was amazing, cute and really sweet <3 . Although I liked him a lot, I didn’t love him because for me he was kinda selfish in the decisions he took :/ . In my opinion, the best thing about him was the way he treat Scarlett, he was always very respectful and romantic :D .

Scarlett was so smart, brave, curious and sometimes a little bit crazy :P . I liked her because she always tried to protect all the

I lloooooovvveeeee this book so much! I am sooo in love with Petyr. It’s so rare to have a male character in a YA fantasy novel who’s hot and mysterious and dreamy, but isn’t annoyingly perfect or creepy or an asshole!
I find it refreshing that Petyr is the narrator in the story. Not only that we get a male POV, he also isn’t human. The author did an incredible job at making his character so convincing and realistic. Remember when you first fell in love? The intensity of the emotions? We get to

First that COVER…. how pretty is the cover? I want to take a swan dive off of Big Ben… not really but doesn’t the cover make you want to do that?

This book was amazing once I started it I could not put it down and by time I hit page 171 I was so disappointed it was over. This book was fantastic.

The characters were well developed for such a short book. I couldn’t help but loving the characters, often when the book is from the perspective of an 18 year old I can get annoyed with them. This was not

In this book, we follow the story through Petyr's eyes (pronounced Peter as Scarlett mentions in this clever reference: "They even know to spell your name with a Y instead of an E. Some of them will never remember that William Cowper's surname, whose work we've been studying since Week 1 by the way, is spelt is OW and not double O"). The fact that Petyr is not human makes his perspective incredibly fascinating. The author did a fabulous job creating such an authentic voice for him. He is so diff ...more

Heartbound by P I Alltraine is an amazing, wonderful, romantic story and is as beautiful as its cover. The book is written from the point of view of Petyr, a being secretly living in our world with some of his fellow kind who are here to learn about humans.

Petyr meets Scarlett at university and we are given insights into Petyr’s thoughts and feelings about first love. But we are also introduced to the mystery of the Forbidden. A

I bought this book purely because of the gorgeous cover and the interesting blurb. I always do that and I'm often disappointed. I went in half-expecting to be so but oh boy, what a story!!! This book takes you on an emotional roller coaster. It's exciting. It's enthralling. It has cute romantic moments that will give you butterflies, funny moments that will make you laugh out loud, it has breath taking descriptions and seamless world building, but it also has an underlying sense of darkness and ...more

This is one of those books that sounded really good. When I opened it up to read it. I found myself only sitting and reading one chapter at a time. I got to chapter four and then took a break from this book. When I came back to this book revived and ready to jump into it, I found that my feelings about this book had not changed from the first four chapters.

There was nothing exciting about Petyr's world or Petyr himself. Also, I did not feel the connection between him and Scarlett. I was trying

I really enjoyed this book. In fact, I LOVED IT! The characters are so interesting, the plot is so unique. It's romantic but really dark in places. I like that there's not a lot of boring stuff and unnecessary explanations of obvious stuff. I agree with the other reviews that it's not a typical YA for dumb people. So if you like the dumbed down and mind-numbing stuff you probably won't get this book. It's the first novel I've read from this author, but I really like the style of writing. I feel ...more

What an INCREDIBLE story. I was in the mood for a romantic fantasy, and the beautiful cover drew me in. I expected a typical YA fantasy, but this book really surprised me at how compelling it is. I am in awe of the unique, fast paced story. The characters are realistic and likeable, but not stereotypical. Also, this novel so deliciously dark. The world building is also amazing and even captivating. I could picture Empyrian so vividly and I feel like I was actually there. From the writing to the ...more

I have to say, I am so impressed with this book. I don't even know where to start. OK, let's start with the characters. This must be be only book where I didn't get annoyed by a single character. The author had a way of making them realistic without being stereotypical and you really end up caring about them. The two settings are both very well presented. The descriptions are amazing, just captivating and really gets your imagination going. The romance is just so unique! I just love it. It's als ...more

What a wonderful book!!! Just wow! The story is so unique, the characters are refreshingly well-developed (even the minor ones) - relatable, yet non-stereotypical. The world building is awe-inspiring. The writing is strong, graceful and fluid without trying too hard. So happy I gave this book a go. I just LOVED it!!! Awesome find!!!

3.5 -> A quick and nice read. I love her writing style so much 🥺 And the story as well — especially the beginning pages... I thought Petyr and Scarlet were cute together with the slowburn romance in the first half. ( I’d score the first half a 4.5 to almost 5 and the second half a 3.5 to 4. ) However, I also felt like Scarlet fell too fast for Petyr (second half) who finally had the guts to ask her on a date after stalking her for I don’t know how long. Too fast that it made her actions a bit un ...more

This is an interesting take on 'aliens' living amongst us. There are three basic castes within the Empyrian system - the Arcas, the Aguas and the Astras. Simply speaking, the Arcas are connected to nature, the Aguas control water, and the Astras are 'mental' (pun intended). There are also the Sparks but they are looked down upon by all of the above.

The descriptions of these individuals, with the world they come from and inhabit, together with their responsibilities is in depth and detailed. The

This book is one of those kind which has a beautiful story in it. The author may not have spent time in characterization but the truth was it was not needed at all.

Set in present day London, a group of beings are sent to study the human world in order to find a cure for a fatal disease ravaging their type. Petyr, our main hero, falls in love with a human girl at the University and must find a way to continue being who he is.
This group of beings are a type of “alien among us” feel. They are superior beings that live and travel in worlds beyond our own. There are three distinct groups, each with the

This is a very unique story. We're introduced to a race of aliens who are divided into subgroups based on their abilities. Some of the words they toss out in conversation aren't explained until later in the story, which got to be a little confusing.

I have to admit that I was much more enamored with the fantasy aspects of this story than I was with the "romance" between Petyr and Scarlett. It seemed more like an obsession on Petyr's part, and that didn't appeal to me at all.

My dude Pete was so damn boring and his romance with Scarlett was equally as boring. However I did like learning about where he was from and what he was. Despite this being under 200 pages, I felt it still dragged on too much though and there were a lot of moments where I just wanted to skip to the end.
