From the start I just found the characters in this book to be flat and based on overused stereotypes. It also seemed like it could have used another round or two of editing. To really round out the annoyances, the book ends on a cliff hanger demanding that you purchase not one, but three more books to finish out the actual story. This isn't an actual series, it's one single story that should just be one book, not four. I've noticed this trend a lot lately, and I think it's really disingenuous of the author to present it this way. I won't be buying or reading the remaining three books.

3 Stars... (**sigh**) Mild Spoilers:

This is book one in a quartet series, featuring Lucky and her friends.

Lucky Clover Green - what a name! Well, what would you expect since she has hippies for parents, and they met in a field of clovers? (sigh) But even though her name is Lucky, ironically, she's not that lucky at all. Instead, she seems to have the worst luck ever.

Lucky doesn't follow her parents footsteps, and instead, wants to be successful in life as a lawyer, but she doesn't want a free pass. Her roommate (Birdy)'s dad owns a law firm and Lucky can easily get a job there because she's Birdie's best friend, but she wants to get one herself. Unfortunately, it's not as easy as she thought as she keeps on getting turned down. After one of her many interviews, she lets her outgoing roommate take her out to a nightclub - where she meets Maxwell Legend, the hot lead singer of Toxic Suspects. Of course, she can't act on her lust for him 'cuz she has a fiance, but she's having the best time of her life in a long time.

While enjoying some drinks, she sees her fiance making out with a random chick! The same fiance who told her he was going away on a business trip. Lucky confronts him, breaks up with him, and goes into Max's awaiting arms. They have a one-night stand (implicit), but they still see each other because they are infatuated with each other. And just when her life seemed to be getting better, her fiance shows up, threatens her, files a lawsuit against her, and then a few days later, turns up dead.

A suspect is arrested, but Lucky knows that the police got the wrong person, and the killer is out there somewhere. She will do anything to find the culprit and clear the suspect's name.

Then the book ends.

This book should be called "Not so Lucky: Part One" because the mystery is not resolved; It ends with a cliffhanger. From what I looked up, the mystery ends in book 4, and the blurb of the other books are similar to book one; So you don't know what's happening - just that the mystery has not ended yet. I think all the books should just be in one book.

I liked this book - Lucky was an enjoyable character to read, and she has realistic problems (not including the dead fiance part). Max was also an enjoyable read - and, of course, he has his own problems to face, but he and Lucky are a great couple, and I can't wait to read how their relationship will grow.

"I was like an addict and Max was my fix. I craved him. Every cell in my body was attuned to his touch, to the way my body felt in his arms. Everything around us: the chilly night, our breaths making clouds in the air, the sounds of New York City, all of it seemed to blur into the background. It was just Max" ~Lucky

But even though I liked them, I didn't like Birdy much. I didn't understand Birdy and her role in this book. Birdy knew what Lucky's fiance was really like, but didn't bother telling her - and they're best friends. Birdy has an air of mystery, and we'll probably know more about her past throughout the series, but in this book, she is unpredictable and her personality keeps on changing; not consistent. Overall however, this was an enjoyable quick read. (**Thumbs up**)

When It Rains It Pours For Poor Lucky Clover Green . . .

This girl has a life that just goes from right to wrong then right to wrong again. RaShelle Workman has given readers a quirky lovable but strong female lead that won't give up on dreams, despite how unlucky her circumstances may seem at times.

Lucky Clover Green is determined to land that post grad job at a law firm based on her own hard working merit. It's a part of her life plan and she's sticking to it if only to prove her hippie go with the flow parents wrong. However, life is hard and Lucky can't seem to catch a break. Only one thing seems to be going right and it should be all wrong for her life plan, his name is Maxwell Legend, the smoking hot lead singer from Toxic Suspects. Maxwell too is confused by how right Lucky feels when she's near him. He's supposed to be pursuing his bands plan for fame not looking for more than a normal one night stand with a girl he hardly knows. It's their chemistry that pulls them together even when things really begin to unravel in Lucky's life which spiral from one thing to another all around the murder of Edward, Lucky's ex-fiancé.

Overall, I enjoyed the story, and was pulled into the characters lives, especially Lucky's woes of trying to get her life in order. I mean as a 23 year old who is also trying to land her dream job, Lucky's plight of job hunting hit home for me. Now if only I could find my own hot billionaire! JK, sort of, but seriously Lucky is one strong resilient female on a mission who will not be dissuaded. My only qualms about the story is how her roommate Birdy is supposed to be her super BFF, but then she's shown to have known all along what a horrible dirty jerk Lucky's fiancé Edward is. For the entire relationship between Lucky and Edward, Birdy seems to have only voiced her issues here and there, when a true friend would have shown evidence or tried to really explain her issues with her friends boyfriend instead of just call him names. Plus there is a lot of backstory to the rich kids Lucky hangs out with that needs more explaining if it's going to be believable and all click together in the end. Because the drama is getting big and poor Lucky is just stuck in the middle. The story ends with questions and a cliffhanger, so I'll definitely be reading on to find out how Lucky plans to figure it all out.

*I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Contemporary romance books are not usually my thing. I mean, I enjoy a cute little romance every once in a while, but they're not typically something I seek out. I like my romance embedded in an epic fantasy or a crazy sci-fi, where other exciting things are taking place and the romance is secondary. But when I heard about RaShelle's Lucky Clover series, I knew that I just had to read these books. And I'm so glad I did!

This first installment, Not So Lucky, is a really nice introduction to the characters and their lives. There's no magic or crazy science or supernatural creatures, but there are real people dealing with real world problems. Lucky thinks she has her whole life figured out, and she's so close to checking everything off of her list. But life has this funny way of never working out how you plan, and Lucky gets to learn this lesson all at once.

I think this book might have given me a little case of schadenfruede, because I was really enjoying reading about all of these ridiculous things happening to Lucky. They're not all bad! But there are some pretty terrible things that happen, especially involving her fiancé and I found that I wanted to keep reading so that I could find out what could possibly go wrong next.

Then there's the new love interest, Maxwell Legend. And sure, he's super attractive and has his own rock band, but he's actually a genuinely nice guy when you get to his core. He cares about his friends and his bandmates, and even about Lucky. I'm really interested to learn more about him and his past, and see if he can live up to his father's ridiculous demands.

Overall, I think this book was a really nice summer read. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the rest of this series to learn more about the characters and to find out what's going to happen next! If you enjoy fun, contemporary romances with just a little steam and some mystery thrown in for good measure, Not So Lucky is definitely the book for you! 4/5.

Lucky is a girl with a plan. A girl with a list for her life to check off. Living in New York with her best friend Birdy, she goes to interview after interview. She wants to be a lawyer, if only someone would give her a chance. If only someone would hire her she can check off another point on her list.

After one more failed interview, Birdy convinces her to have one night of fun and go out to a club. Since her fiancé is out of town, she agrees to go. Little does she know this is the night her whole plan will come crumbling down.

Maxwell, the hot sexy playboy, lead singer of Toxic Suspects is working towards his dream of having the band get noticed. His father doesn’t approve of his choice of career. He steps up on stage and his world spins on it’s axis.

He’s not the relationship type. One night. No strings. That’s what he does. Until Lucky. Can he ever love someone? Can he have more than one night with a girl?

I enjoyed this story. It’s a short read, and I definitely need the next book. There is a cliffhanger so you will be reaching for book two as soon as you finish it.

With a name like Lucky Clover Green, what could go wrong? Everything, if you ask the girls that bears that particular moniker. Despite her name, she's determined to land a coveted job at a top law firm and well, so far the job search has been unlucky. Thank goodness she has her best friend, Birdy, young socialite (think Blair/Serena from Gossip Girl) and her oh-so-perfect fiancé to keep her spirits up.

Deciding that Lucky needs a night out, Birdy makes her hit the town to hear a hot new band. Lucky lets loose for one night but soon, discovers the man of her dreams just might be a nightmare.

Then she meets the new star of her fantasies, the ridiculously sexy, Maxwell Legend. He's the sex-on-a-stick lead singer of Toxic Suspects and he's dangerous to her plans...but it just might be worth it.

This was a super quick read but the author manages to create some quirky, likeable characters and even some characters you love to hate. There are definitely a few two many questions about the characters for me to decide which camp they belong in, just yet. The story ends with a huge cliffhanger that I didn't see coming! There's some interesting foreshadowing here that'll make you come back for the 2nd installment!

There are few confusing parts, some editing issues and a couple things that need some explaining (hence the 3.5) but I hope the 2nd book will do a great job of tying up some of these loose ends.

All in all, a fun and quirky quick read!

A quick, easy read with intrigue, angst and a murder...

Lucy has her life planned out she knows what she wants and when she wants it...unfortunately for her life has other ideas...

While in a club with her bestfriend and roommate to watch Toxic Suspects, she notices her fiance who is supposed to be away for the weekend, getting up close and personal with another woman immediately confronting him, he tries to brush the whole thing off as a one off before they get married.

Lucky obviously upset, confused and hurt finds solace in the arms of none other than Maxwell Legend lead singer of Toxic Suspects and what leads to an unforgettable night.

Just when she thinks things are looking up for her, her ex fiance is found dead and the prime suspect is none other than Birdie her roommate...

This is episode 1 in 4 part series, for me personally I won't be continuing with them as I just couldn't connect to the character's nor the story. There wasn't enough substance in the plot to keep me interested but I can see why it would appeal to fans of short episode style novella's and although I won't continue with the series I would recommend to readers who enjoy this style of story.

Lucky has her life plan mapped out. She still working a getting the job she wants but she's has a fiancé, Edward, which she planning her life with. Lucky was raised by hippie parents and she is anything but a hippie. She loves lists and planning. One night at the club with her best friend, Birdy, changes the direction her life is going. She steps out of her comfort zone and lets loose for the night. She sees Edward in a different light and she meets super sexy Maxwell. Things with Lucky and Maxwell heat up pretty quickly. Edward is kind of a jerk and I'm not sure we know everything about him. Maxwell and Birdy seem to hint that they know more about Edward but we don't know much about his past. I was a little confused on how everyone knew Birdy, it seem a little off to me but I'm hoping we get more about that in the next episode.

I saw that Not So Lucky was Episode One so I assumed that their would be a cliffhanger but I wasn't prepared for it to be such a big cliffhanger. I'm glad that episode two is already out so I can jump right into reading it. I am right there with Lucky and I want to get to the bottom of what happened and figure out what actually happened.

First book in the Lucky Clover Series, Lucky Clover Green has started her life in NYC with her friend Birdy after graduating Law School and surviving growing up with her "hippy dippy" parents. Though she's struggling to land a job, she is engaged to the man of her dreams....or so she thought. After one night out with Birdy, her whole life changes. And in my opinion, her life changes for the better after she meets the lead singer of Toxic Suspects, Max Legend and catches her fiance cheating on her on the same night. This book touches a lot of issues, abuse, struggle to find yourself while still trying to grow up, and struggle between child and parent. This book was VERY fast paced. I stuggled giving this book between a 4 and a 5 because of how fast it was. Normally it's not a bad thing, but to me I found myself saying "ok one more chapter a lot" and ended up giving my toddler dinner a little too late on Saturday night. BUT that is on me, not the author. Ultimately I gave it a five because it really is a great book and kept me interested from the beginning right to the end.

This is the first book from a new series by Rashelle Workman's called (Lucky Clover Romance Series) and I have to say it's a sexy ,fun, story with some great characters and some thrilling mystery to keep you hooked in the story .We also have a hot and sexy singer in the mix everything . As we are introduced to Lucky Clover Green's she's not feeling as definite as her name and she feels like her glass is half empty . Lucky wants to land a job at a law firm by working hard . Everything seems to be going her way excited for Maxwell Legend who is sexy and gorgeous playboy singer for Toxic Suspects .He has always had women falling at his feet and one night stands are his hobby,up until he meets Lucky. Lucky knows what she wants and goes for it, she's smart , romantic, and very trusting ,and really ambitious. Ms Workman can really weave these characters friendships and and love scenes together great and their chemistry is steamy hot and well written. I can say this I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet story .I could go on and tell you more about this story but that would spoil the story for you. I highly recommend that you read this story , for you won't be disappointed.

The first book in RaShelle Workman’s new Lucky Clover Romance series is fun, sexy, has great characters and enough mystery to keep us turning the pages.
Lucky is not just a replica of RaShelle Workman’s other female protagonists, although she does share the same resilient spirit. Lucky is ambitious, romantic, smart and trusting. When we meet her she isn’t feeling as positive as her name suggests but despite seeing her glass as half empty I think she is still someone we would love to know!
Lucky shares her story with Maxwell – the charming playboy singer of Toxic Suspects. He is used to having women fall at his feet and one-night stands are his hobby – until he meets Lucky.
RaShelle Workman weaves the lives of these characters together well; their chemistry meaning that Not So Lucky is much steamier than any of her previous novels!
Not So Lucky is another example of the fact that RaShelle Workman can turn her hand to any genre and new and old fans will happily follow her, waiting until she drops the next great story into our laps!

Lucky thinks she has the world all figured out. Law school degree, rich fiance, and the best friend anybody could ask for.

Maxwell Legand has it all. Money, sexy body, and a band named Toxic Suspects.

After failing to secure a job in a law office, Lucky's best friend, Pamela Bird, takes her to see a band at a club called The Attic. She becomes captivated by the lead singer.

Max sees Lucky at a table and knows he has to have her.

Lucky finds out something that night that breaks her heart, making it possible for her and Max to spend the night together.

Want to find out what happens next? One-click to find out! Trust me, you won't be disappointed! Can't wait to start the next book, "Dead Lucky"!

I was given an ARC for an honest review, which I have given. All thoughts are my own.

Lucky Clover Green (yes that's her name thanks to her hippie parents) knows what she wants in life and things seem to be going that way until one night she's at a bar and see's Maxwell Legend, lead singer of the band. There is just something magnetic about him but Lucky is engaged....well until her fiancé turns up dead see she is the number one suspect.

This is a very quick read but you will not be disappointed in the story. Just when you think Lucky has everything figured out the worse (or not depending how you look at it) happens and Lucky's world is turned upside down. For her the one person she feels she can rely on is the mysterious Maxwell Legend. ...talk about OMG!!

I absolutely loved this story. This was just another amazing story by RaShelle and I'm looking forward to reading more about Lucky Green and her adventures :)

This is the first book I've read by this author, and I just have to say, Congrats RaShelle Workman, you have made the list of authors trying to kill me. Lucky has her life planned out, so their shouldn't be any bumps in the road right? Wrong, all hell breaks lose when she catches the man she's engaged to cheating on her. That night blows her life's goals all to hell, but puts her in the path with one sexy new man. I absolutely LOVED this story. An exciting, full of suspense, and well written story line flows smoothly. The author does a great job with twists and turns that come out of left field, while keeping my heart racing cover to cover. And the cliff hanger ending had me calling her not so nice names. I CANNOT WAIT to read the rest of this awesome series, so I happily HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Lucky seems to have lost her luck. Finding out your fiancé is not the man you thought he was puts you into a tailspin. But meeting a handsome stranger might help. It seems Lucky ' s perfectly planned life just took a major detour and she is trying to sort her new one all out when tragedy strikes and she needs all the help she can get.

I loved Max. He wasn't your typical playboy rock star but he isn't your boy next door either. Lucky was a genuine heroine who didn't want a lot from life but surrounded by people who had a lot. Her best friend was a sweetheart and didn't live like she was better even if she had more. They all meshed well and you actually liked them all. Well except the ex-fiance. He was a total douche. I am eagerly waiting for book two, thankfully it comes out soon!

I have been in love with RaShelle Workman ever since The Blood and Snow series and I have yet to read a book by her that I didn't like. This was something a little different for me to read by her because of The Blood and Snow Series but I must admit that I loved Lucky and the way that she never really had any good luck. Maxwell was a nice addition to the story and I loved seeing the two of them together. This book kept me on the end and the ending really had me going to the point that I had to read the rest of this series and see how it was going to end and I must say that I was not disappointed one bit.

I loved this story. These characters are so charming, I just can not read enough. Lucky is a newly graduated lawyer who shares a apartment with her best friend Birdy. These two really get themselves into trouble. Lucy's love life goes from ok, to tragic, to holy crap! Birdy, somehow managed to get caged! Oh, the suspence is killing me. I love a good cliffhanger.

A good start for the series. Lucky is a gorgeous, smart girl from the wrong side of the tracks. She is friends with Birdy and is engaged to marry Edward both of whom are loaded. She discovers that Edward is cheating on her and breaks the engagement. She then hooks up with Max, another rich man who is defying his father by being in a band. Then everything comes to a halt when Edward is murdered and the suspicion falls on Birdy.

Loved it! I have loved everything I have read by this author. The characters are lovable. Lucky has goals and they seem to be crumbling one at a time, she has an awesome best friend Birdy. She falls hard for Maxwell who does not fit into her plans. The novel leaves us with a mystery waiting to be solved in the next book. I can't wait for it to come out and I have already pre-ordered it.

Not so Lucky is the first book in the Lucky Clover series by Rashelle Workman. Great first part, characters are totally believable. Well written and suspense filled story

I chose a 4 rating because the plot seems to depend on the sex scenes, and I think a plot should " stand alone" and the author used the sex scenario twice. A good writer would spin such an intense yarn, just a hint of sex and romance would suffice.. I would recommend this story for more mature readers.
