This story focuses on the reunion of Melancton (a Boeotian satyr) and his nymph, Daphne. Daphne has been held prisoner by the Greek God Apollo, chained to a laurel tree, where she was slowly allowing the tree to take over her body (effectively killing her) rather than betray her love for Melancton and let Apollo have her. That is until Hermes took action and reunited them (check out Mercury Rising for that story!). Obviously, super cray-cray Apollo must have his vengeance and enlists the help of

This series gets better and better. This book is totally engrossing, heartbreaking, humorous, sexy, interesting and full of love and emotion.
This is Daphne the Nymph and Melancton's book and it's good!
The story is mainly in present day but has the odd flash back to help the story along. In the previous book Melancton made a noble sacrifice one he is pained over. No need to worry Hemes my favourite God is about and he loves interfering in the best way.

Each book in this series gets better than the last. This one was no different. Melancton and Daphne's story is heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. The struggles they had to go through to be together were tremendous. What Apollo did to Daphne because was obsessed with her... It was painful to read about her becoming a part of a tree.
Thank Goodness for Hermes. I love that dude. He saw an injustice and found a way to rescue the poor tortured nymph and return her to the satyr she loved ...more

This is the book in the series that I had been waiting for! Throughout the series we have been given snippets of the relationship between Melancton and Daphne – but never did I see the tragedy that their relationship was. I think readers of this series always knew that there was something more to Melancton than being one of Dionysus’s puppets and in the last book we see him make a devastating sacrifice for the sake of one of Pan’s Saty ...more

Satyre in the Shadows has a darker atmosphere than the former novels. The events surrounding Daphne and Melancton are tragic and are written to have a strong emotional pull. The thought provoking situations seem realistic and ideal for their current dilemma. Throughout the story the atmosphere varies between tense to amusing. I found peace in Melancton finally having companionship and family. It was sometimes distracting readung through more than two point of views, but I loved the characters an

I am in love with these satyrs! Another wonderful book by Miss Lewis. I have been waiting for Melancton and Daphne's story for a while and I have to say, the wait was worth it! I laughed, cried, and couldn't put it down.

I've said it before, one of my fundamental truths is that I am unabashedly in love with mythology. Greek and Nordic top my personal list of 'go-to' fab reads. It’s a field I also dabble in as a writer so I'm a bit picky about reading another's take on the same subject.
But, I've always enjoyed Ms. Lewis's world of sexy satyrs, unjust curses and a love strong enough to defy the Gods themselves. Fluid storytelling, substantial character depth and a fresh take on the tapestry of paranormal tropes. ...more

Some secrets have been revealed....I slightly feel bad for Dionysus but only slightly. Apollo has no excuse to act like a spoiled brat and be an obsessive psycho. If I didn't know better I swear Apollo is the baby of the family, Hermes is the oldest, and Dionysus is the middle child by the way they are all acting. I am sooo happy Daphne and Melancton got some down time to reconnect and come to an understanding. They have let all the actions of the past to and are moving forward. I cried at the e

What a great book! I love the way the author writes about the characters and the storyline. There was one scene towards the end that had me near tears. So shocking! I didn't think I would be into reading about men with horns and hooves but these characters are so well written. I am ready for the next one!
