"The Ex Trials" by Heather Topham Wood is the fourth book in her "Falling For Autumn" series and centers around Casey and Cole.

We've had a glimpse of their burn and crash relationship before, but now it's time to find out what their story really is about.

This book was full of surprises. While I expected a lot of sexual tension and banter between Casey and Cole on their way to happiness, I didn't expect the seriousness that this story offered.
"The Ex Trials" not only has steam, romance and hum

I really liked the previous books in this series and this one was not different. So if you liked the other novels, you don’t want to miss this one. All the characters from the previous books appear and it is always nice to read how they are doing. If you haven’t started this series, I recommend this series if you love a good college romance with angst. Autumn, Lexi and Delia have found the love of their life and now it’s time for their best friend Casey to find the love of

Summary:

The Ex Trials is more than just a contemporary romance, it is what I would describe as being transcending, Wood incorporates deep subject matter and I have to applaud her for her risk to include the reality of rape culture by acknowledging the problems in our society. It is something that I have never come across before in other contemporary romance novels therefore it is unique to me.

There are many elements to this book which I real

This was another great book in the Falling for Autumn series. This is the story of Casey Silvers and Cole Caldwell. Casey is Autumn's best friend and Cole is Levi's brother, Delia's boyfriend. Cole has a twin brother, Evan and they are all in the band with Levi. They are becoming more known and will probably be making it big sometime. Cole and Casey were in a relationship but something terrible happened and they ended. Now they are both stuck on a cruise together when Autumn and Blake's bachelor ...more

This was a fitting end to the series. We not only get the Casey/Cole story, but updates on the other couples in the series, culminating in the wedding of Autumn and Blake.

Casey's story is not what I expected, but it's an important one. Rape culture is all over the news and the more it's spoken about, the better. It was sad the way Casey doubted herself and her own instincts, but not surprising. Read any online article about sexual assault and in the comments are always people trying to blame the

WOW....I SO LOVE THIS BOOK....NO SPOILERS ......you won't be disappointed I promise

This is so good I read it in one sitting, I welled up a lot and wanted to bang heads together more than once...... Heather is a FANTASTIC author that writes in a way that you are there inside her book part of there world..The saddest part for me is it finished and I hoping there will be more to come (how she can top this I don't know)... I'm very honoured to have had an ARC it's a pleasure to be asked....You won't

I LOVE this series hard. So different than most NA books in the way that it's not only about romance but about being a girl in a world that's not always kind to women. The heroes don't "save" the girls, they save themselves and then find love. Casey's story is an important one for all 20-somethings to read.

This book was so funny. Cole and Casey have great lines that I kept highlighting in my eReader. The plot turned serious but the twist brought the whole story of Autumn and her friends full circle. It made sense for Casey to find herself in the same way Autumn was forced to. The Epilogue was great too since I always love happy endings.

This is an all-nighter must read! Even if you didn't read the other books in the series, no problem. It definitely can stand on its own. Very bittersweet to say goodbye to some of my fave characters. I love Autumn and Casey!

Loved the conclusion to the series!!! This can be read alone or as part of the FFA series. I recommend starting with the first book since it allows for a greater connection to these amazing characters.

Casey and Cole

After the last two books I figured out where this was heading. Casey grows up a lot in this book and I think she works so well with Cole.
Deanna (A Novel Glimpse)
The Ex Trials is a second chance love story between two people who have tried to move on from each other but can't.

Six months ago, Casey made the biggest mistake of her life. She ruined a chance at love with her soul mate, Cole. She knows she did the right thing breaking up with him, but it still feels so wrong. Now, she's stuck on a cruise ship with him -- and all her friends who have no clue the real reason they broke up. Casey's hoping she can make it through the cruise without her secrets r

This was my first time reading a book by Heather Topham Wood and I have to say she took me completely by surprise. I was expecting a book full of steamy times with a party girl and her hot rocker; instead I got a beautiful book about love that helps to address a serious topic. Casey puts on an act for everyone. She wants everyone to see her as the party girl, the one that’s always looking for a good time. The problem with this is, no one really got to know how to know the real her. She had thoug ...more

I really enjoyed this book! I love reunion style stories! The chemistry between Cole and Casey was intense! It needed more steam, though. Just a scene and a half doesn’t do it for me. I did like how it wasn’t completely perfect once they were brought back together. There were still obstacles to overcome.

The story dealt with a more serious situation than I anticipated. Casey drove me absolutely nuts, but I’ve never been in that type of situa

The Ex Trials is part of a series from Heather called Falling For Autumn. I will add I hadn't read the series and was able to read this book easily, so it can be read as a stand alone. With reading as many NA romance books as I do I struggle with some when they feel slightly 'samey'. That makes reviewing the book harder in my opinion namely as I feel I've read many of them before but just changing the names and maybe the location. The Ex Trials was refreshing in that its only my second (I think) ...more

The Ex Trials was a sobering and thoroughly unexpected kind of romance. It had a lot of intense issues in it. I liked it, even though it rubbed me the wrong way in some instances.

About the Characters...
- Initially, I was not taken with Casey. I understood her struggles, but I did not like the position she took early on, especially with regard to how she portrayed herself to her friends. It didn't make sense to me that she would pretend to be someone she wasn't before her closest friends. That l

Wow. I was so not expecting the twists that shocked me in this book. I selected this book because I thought the blurb sounded interesting. The blurb did not due this book justice.
This is the fourth book in a series but I have not read any of the previous books. Therefore I was blind going in. Yet I could follow the story easily. Casey abruptly left Cole after a few weeks of a relationship. For reasons I didn’t know but were bro

I recieved a review copy through NetGalley.

The Ex Trials was a pretty good read. I enjoyed the drama in this contemporary romance. It was a tad bit predictable to some extent, but still enjoyable.

Casey is the girl that acts wild and carefree, but deep down she's smart, sweet and longing for true love. I adored Casey even though she made dumb decisions. She had a tough upbringing between her mother going from man to man and her father not being there for her. Casey runs from her problems and tri

also I did NOT know this was part of a series because the blurb on Netgalley said stand alone

I guess I'll briefly mention that this book is borderline stand alone. It is the last book I believe of a series of "stand alone's" so I was sort of spoiled on the other stories, I'm sure there is more to the books but now I know what the end game is so take what you will with that before reading.

A feel-good romance about forgiveness and second chances. If you are looking for an independent female protagonist, and a strong, swoony leading man, Casey and Cole of The Ex Trials by Heather Topham Wood will likely fit the bill. There is a nice subplot in the story which gives it more meat. Although the secret Casey is keeping is easy to figure out, there’s enough tension to keep readers flipping throug

This is a contemporary romance set in the "Falling for Autumn" series, altough it can be read (and I've read it) as a standalone novel. It's the story of Casey and Cole. She used to be a party girl until she met Cole, but their relationship failed because, apparently, she cheated on him with some football player. Cole is a bass player with his band, Trojan Jedi. When the novel starts, they've been apart for some time, but meet again for Autumn's bachelorette party-cruise. So this is a novel abou ...more

I enjoyed the book and the narrative was interesting.

I got into the book quite quickly in the beginning but I found it dragged on in places.

The chemistry between Cassie and Cole is intense but it comes across more like lust than love. Cassie is quite a complex character: one who tries to hide her insecurities and keeps her walls up so no one can truly know the real Cassie. I have to admit, there were times in the book that I got a

I found the writing so gripping that I practically read this story in just one sitting. I enjoyed the way the story flowed, the present and past colliding, as the mystery surrounding Cole and Casey's break-up was slowly pieced together.

These two were both in a world of hurt. They were miserable without each other and that really came across in the writing, I could feel their heartbreak and connect with the characters easily. I particularly felt proud of Casey and her journey-she came to some maj

This was the first book I've read by this author. I will have to go back and read the other books of this series! I loved these characters. Casey and Cole were dating and Casey cheated on Cole and they broke up. However, things aren't always what they seem. Heather Topham Wood is an author who gives you all the romance, emotions you need but then tops it off with a huge unsuspecting punch of a message and more feels. I have long been a quiet admirer of her work having only read one other book by her before but this one is equally as good. A romance story about two people who very much have feelings still for each other but life, love and the world can get in the way first and second time round. I really enjoyed this book. I thought the characters were great and the subject matter was handled very well. I really appreciated how it addressed woman in society when it comes to sex and also the conversation about consent and rape was so important and I really admired the way this book handle those subjects. My only problem was I felt a disconnect from the characters and story a little bit? But that's only on me. I didn't love this book but I didn't hate it.
