Tim Caldwell doesn’t do relationships…

Not after his wife walked out on him and their daughter ten years before. He’s got a well-earned reputation as a Casanova Cowboy who’s never met a woman he couldn’t talk into bed…until Toni duBois. Disinterest isn’t something he’s used to. Neither is playing by someone else’s rules.

Toni duBois doesn’t do forever…

Tim Caldwell doesn't want any type of relationship after his wife walked out on him and his daughter. One night stands? Absolutely!! Couple good rolls in the hay? Why not??!! But anything long term is strictly off limits. And Rene, Tim's now teenage stepdaughter is perfectly fine with it just being her and her daddy. Don't cross her...She will tell you JUST like it is!! But along comes Toni DuBois who is headed home to Louisiana to deal with family issues, and ends up s

Even Cowboys Get the Blues was my first Amie Stuart book and is the fifth in her Bluebonnet Texas series. It is the unique and gripping story of a father (Tim) and his daughter (Rene) dealing with the far-reaching pain and grief of abandonment, a woman (Toni) weighted by the heavy consequences of rape and familial betrayal, and how they can all play a role in the healing of each other.

I did find the novel to be a bit clunky in its rhythm, larg

Even Cowboys Get The Blue is book #5 in the Bluebonnet Series. This was my first book that I've read by Amie Stuart and she has a new fan.  This book was intriguing, sensuous, exploratory, and reminds us the importance of not judging a book by its cover. Getting to read from the perspective of 3 individuals, these in particular, made it even more satisfying. Tim, Rene, and Toni all needed one important thing in their life. LOVE. Their journey to opening us as individuals was magical.

Wow. I finished this one with (mostly happy-ish) tears and a burning desire to see more of these people--a lot more--and soon. Please tell me future series books will let us know more about what the future has for Toni, Tim, and Rene? Please? Because those three--they just grabbed me and aren't letting go. I am pushing so hard for them to get their HEA-forever together, and I feel a burning desire to know exactly what that's going to look like. Don't get me wrong, I loved the ending--but gosh da ...more

This is quite an emotional story. I'm not sure what to think. The emotional turmoil from ALL of the main characters just about overshadows everything else. The pain and anguish is almost too much at times.

Written from three perspectives, it had quite a different feel. All of the characters certainly had their flaws and personal demons.

Toni is a woman who has suffered through a lot and is stuck in Bluebonnet when her car breaks down. She begins working as a bartender to pay off her car repair an

The Bluebonnet Texas series is hands-down one of my favorites. It’s handsome cowboys, feisty cowgirls, dancehall shenanigans, secrets that have a way of causing big trouble, and deliciously steamy sex. The characters are real people whose lives we can relate to because they are like us...far from perfect. Amie Stuart always writes from the heart but her latest, Even Cowboys Get The Blues, feels as if she’s given us a small piece of her soul. This is a beautifully written, heart wrenching story t

What a great read if you are into sassy cowgirls, handsome cowboys, shenanigans, with steamy sex scenes and secrets that give you a big smile with all the trouble they cause this book is for you. The author really pulled me in with characters I could relate to that keep me hopping from one page to the next. What a heart searching that goes right to your soul read. It was well written with wonderful characters I really loved so much I bought the rest of the series.

fun and sweet. Tim was a single dad trying to raise a teenage girl. A girl who was angry and lost. Her dad was gorgeous so she has no friends due to them wanting him. Her teachers want to date him and when he doesn’t they take it out on her so she has to deal with that as well. Now her dad has an interest in a woman and this doesn’t sit well with her. Rene to me begins as angry, spoiled and what she does to drive off Rene was horrible. But you can understand some things. She has always only had ...more

A very well written book, Even Cowboys Get The Blues is hard hitting and deals with one of the most difficult subjects on the charts. When Tim meets Toni, the sparks fly and their attraction is immediately evident, however Tim's reputation and Toni's past experiences make the start of a relationship a no-go area. Add to the mix one twelve year old, recalcitrant pre-teen who is determined to run Toni off, and the sparks begin to fly. The reader is drawn into the complex lives of the Boudreaux fam ...more

Even Cowboys Get The Blues by Amie Stuart is book number five in the Bluebonnet Texas series. This is Tim Caldwell, Toni duBois, and Tim's daughter Rene Caldwell's story.

Tim has been raising his daughter since she was around three years old after his wife abandoned them. To protect himself he doesn't do relationships but has hookups. Tim has gotten himself quite a reputation as being a ladies man.

Rene is Tim's daughter who is in her teens. She is a fireball. She was around twelve when the books

I've read this book as a standalone and although I think it just about managed to come off , more enjoyment could have been had if I'd read the previous books, although a lot of back stories and information was written within the book.

Once I got used to the written style of the author which is alittle different to the ones I'm use to reading , Cowboys aren't my usual tipple ! I took this family to my heart. What I most liked was not one person was 'perfect'. Every single one of them had flaws a

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.

This is the first book I've read by this author and it wasn't bad. Tim is a single dad of a 12 year old girl that he seems to have little control of. Even though he's a single dad he's such a player. Toni has lots of baggage and tries her hardest to not fall for the town playboy.

Tim isn't giving up on Toni and his daughter, Rene, is trying everything for Toni not to be her stepmother. At times during the book I don't know who I was going to

The three main character pov is a unquie take on the issues raised. The author warns you going in your going to be reading some serious shit. She absolutely right. Tim has his hands full dealing with an adolescent daughter whose mom abandoned them. He escapes the harsh realities of his life by burying himself in the flavor of the day, or night. When Toni comes back to town and he sets his eyes on her, he finds she's not so easy to forget. Unfortunately, his daughter Rene has other ideas and doesn't like to share. Teenage angst, personal battles, and hope for a brighter future were all part of this story. With sexy cowboys and caring family rounding out the ...more

Amie Stuart is a new to me author and I really enjoyed this book! This is the fifth book in the Bluebonnet Texas series and I haven't read any others but I had little trouble diving right in. There's a lot of things happening in the story and some pretty intense issues and angst. It's told from Tim's, Toni's and Rene's (Tim's daughter) points of views. I honestly was unsure if I'd like reading Rene's POV but I'm glad Ms. Stuart included it because it helped to explain some of her crazy teenage a ...more

Tim Caldwell and his daughter, Rene have gotten used to life being just the two of them, but that changes when Toni duBois becomes the new bartender in town.
Tim is instantly attracted to Toni and he goes out of his way to get her to go out with him. The first date doesn't end the way he's used to, but Tim asks Toni out again and again.

Very put together book by Amie. Characters have all the feels that come from truly well written authors. This book had me swooning over the gorgeous & hot hot hottie cowboy Tim. Feeling the anger, possessiveness & angst that Rene, Tim's 12 year old daughter goes through as well as the deep inset of emotional turmoil that Toni's past has left for to work through. Although this is book 5 of a series it is the first book I have read. I was able to enjoy it because of the amount of back story the author gives you. It is well written and has lots of characters and lots of feeling. It is a very moving, emotional story. All of the characters have hang ups, secrets and problems and come across as very real and easy to relate to.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book, all opinions stated are my own.

This is the fifth story in the Bluebonnet Texas Series. I have to admit I did find it a little harder to follow than usual with there being three perspectives but I still enjoyed it.
This is a very emotional and angsty read that definitely pulls on the heartstrings. Toni's story is heartbreaking and Tim and Rene have been through their fair share of heartache too so I was even more invested in them finding their HEA. This was a very well written book that deals with a deep and serious storyline. Be warned it isn't a light fun romance, but rather an emotional one. I enjoyed the three points of view in this book. The characters are great, strong, deep and able to overcome obstacles. A great book - can't wait to read more from this author.

Amie Stuart is the last of a dying breed: a Native Texan. She writes sexy, emotional contemporary romances set in small towns. In the past, she's worked as a receptionist, a daycare office manager, delivered pizzas, and was even a hairdresser for five years--all fodder for the writing gig. That and all those Barbara Cartland romances she cut her teeth on.

None of those careers can compare to her fa
