No one knows how I blow off steam, and that’s how I like it. Most of the time, I’m happy just being part of a big family in a small town. And those times I need to get away are mine and mine alone.
My secret stays safe until I meet her – the woman who simultaneously pisses me off and turns me on. She seems like a wallflower at first, but it turns out there’s a lot more to her than I realized. Despite her hidden strength, she has a vulnerability I can’t resist.
As we open up to each other, I realize she’s starting to mean everything to me. She doesn’t feel the same way, but that won’t stop me from doing whatever it takes to keep her safe – even if it means exposing my secret to her. I’m in way over my head, and all I can hope is that someday, she’ll feel the same way about me.

I love that feeling of diving into a new release by an author that always delivers something that I know I'll like. I will always gravitate towards any new release by Brenda Rothert and I'm excited to see this series unfold.
What's it all about? Mason Lockhart is only interested in the here and now. Looking to the future especially when it involves long term commitments has never been at the top of his priorities. So it comes as a huge surprise when the new girl in town catches his eye even if he does call her 'mousy' the first time they meet. First time impressions certainly count, April is ready to start a new life with a job that she is passionate about in the small town of Lovely. What she is definitely not interested in is getting to know the arrogant ladies man, Mason Lockhart however attractive he may be. But once they start to put their differences aside this duo can't help but start to fall for each other's charms. Stick into the mix some secrets, family drama and the unfamiliarity of falling in love and you can expect Brenda Rothert to make you fall in love too.
What did I love? Nothing makes me perk up and take notice more than a romance story that features an opposites attract vibe. Combine all that with a hero to die for and an adorable heroine and you are left with an inevitable love story that is sweeter than your grandmothers apple pie. The beginning of this shindig really grabbed my attention I loved the direction that Rothert took this story in, I'm hardly ever able to resist it when the protagonist's have a disliking towards each other in their first meeting and bingo that's exactly what we have here. The romance side of the book was evident as was the secondary story telling and I really appreciated the developing friendships between the characters. All in all a fully likeable novel that I have zero regrets spending my time with. Bring on the next Lockhart brother I have a feeling he's going to be working hard at tugging on my heart strings.
Why not five? 'In deep' was by no means a book that I didn't enjoy. In fact it was totally likeable and for the most part I was swept up in this next instalment of the Lockhart brothers. However, I needed a little more meat on the bones for me to feel wowed by this novel. In fact I was almost a little distracted by the fast forward pace of the unfolding events. 'In deep' had all the necessary ingredients for me to fall into five star heaven but I needed that something 'more' to be fully convinced. But don't be too disheartened this is a series that I'm excited to read more about and as for my three star rating, it definitely means that there was more than a few redeeming qualities about this novel to fall for. I'm almost 100% certain that whatever this author produces I'll always find something about her writing to love, so with all that in mind I'm happily looking forward to seeing more from the Lockhart brothers.
Final thoughts ... A favourite author producing yet another series? I couldn't be any happier. Brenda Rothert ticks my romance buttons time and time again and I'm excited to see what she has planed for the future. Those who love this author don't want to miss out on this series and those readers who haven't yet picked up any of this author's work need to do some romantic investigating over at amazon. A fully likeable novel with secrets, romance and a hero that dreams are made of. Enjoy, readers ... Kisses.

I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed in this one. I really liked the first one in this series, but this one just didn't work well for me.
Mason is a man whore and while I don't generally have a problem reading about man whores, I do need to have some feeling that the heroine is different from all the other women the hero has had. I need to believe that there is an attraction and something about her is above all others. I just didn't feel that here. I just feel some of their relationship development is missing.
In the beginning, April overhears Mason call her "mousy" and she looks like a "librarian"....not anything he is usually attracted to. Again, not normally a problem for me but I just could never figure out what flipped the switch. Why all of a sudden did he like her and want to be with her? I just didn't buy it. And to top it off, she was constantly bothered by his past. She knew she wasn't his type and was always waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Then, when April comes out with her feelings, what does he do? He basically calls her a whore and is mean to her...WTF? Now, I get he had issues stemming from his college days. But come on...9 years later and you won't commit because you were hurt by ONE woman?? I just don't buy that. So, even at 68%, give or take, he's willing to be "exclusive" but he doesn't do relationships. It finally takes her ignoring him for him to realize he really does love her. The last 20% I was able to FINALLY feel some semblance of love for her but I still don't know why.
I really hope Kyle's book is better. He deserves a HEA and so do his boys.

Secrets. Let's face it, we all have our secrets. Some secrets that we want to forget and some we just try to bury. So what happens when you meet the person, who you unexpectedly want to bare your soul to? The person who you can confide your secrets to. When the walls of your heart are slowly crumbling, what happens when you realize that you are in deep? Falling deep in love? Are you willing to trust the person to catch your fall when you fall in deep?
In Deep by Brenda Rothert is the second installment to The Lockhart Brothers Series. If you read Deep Down, we were all introduced to the Lockhart siblings. And boy oh boy, those Lockhart brothers were deliciously sexy and charming. And this time, we finally get to know and meet the elusive brother, Mason Lockhart. Mason doesn't do long term commitments. He is all about living in the moment. So when he meets the new girl, April, he finds himself unexpectedly drawn to her since she is not normally the type of women that Mason is known to be attracted to. He sees her as the innocent and shy type but the more time he spends with her, he finds April's sweet and mothering personality attractive. But as Mason and April begin to spend more time with each other, they slowly begin to break down each other's wall. Deep secrets of their past slowly begins to unfold and soon these two find themselves falling in deep. Will April be able to trust Mason to catch her fall? Or will Mason's fear of commitment and getting hurt be their downfall? So what happens when you are into deep? Will you run away or run to love?
In Deep showcase tangible love that sure will make any romance readers' heart swoon. As always, Brenda never fails to showcase all ranges of emotions. What I love about this author is that she makes her readers feel for her characters. Though this book was not so heartbreaking like Deep Down, Brenda was still able to pull the heart strings of her readers. She was able to drawn them with the emotional and physical connection of Mason and April. So if you are looking for a book that showcases that opposites attract and unexpected love is the best kind of love, then go read In Deep.
Was interested in this one until I found out he calls the heroine a whore after she tried to end things because he tells her he's not capable of loving her. I get that he sees the light later in the book but I'd have drop kicked a guy in the nuts if he ever spoke to me like that.

In Deep was another meaningful and amazing read from author Brenda Rothert.
One thing, I know about Brenda’s writing is that it always is different… it is always out of the box from other reads I come across… and it always has an integral and underlying message of theme that you take back from it.
It's just a stand out from other reads, in terms of the development, authorship, and integrity!!
And yes, I am shamelessly fangirling right now! *Yes, I am! Especially over bad boy heart throb Mason Lockhart!*
In Deep is the second installment of the Lockhart Brothers series and is not so heavily toned as its first predecessor.
With a playboy Cassanova type of male meets den mother type of female heroine, it was a mix of give and take for these characters, as they delve further into each others’ lives and backgrounds, family, friendships…
As well as find themselves embarking on some things that neither could have prepared themselves--- love. Sacrifice. And a future.
I really loved the dynamic between Mason and April as both really brought something new to the table and were the perfect combination for a duo.
I swear readers, ‘one click’ this baby now! You won't be disappointed!
I am loving this town and this family. This author is amazing. I find her stories captivating... I can't put them down once I open the book. Cover to Cover they consume my thoughts.
April is the new house mom at the Grieves House, a safe home for pregnant teens. The day she moves in she hears Mason make a disparaging comment about her. From that day on April vows to have very little to do with Mason even though he keeps popping up in her life.
This may be a case of its not you, it's me. I struggled with this book. I knew it wouldn't have the same intensity of the first book because really there is no way to top that let alone come close. But I didn't really believe their interest in each other. It seemed like a switch was flipped in Mason. He was calling her boring and bookish one second and then the next second he was in heat. At least April had more of a slow simmer towards Mason.
I adore Brenda and always will. But I believe in honesty and I won't give an author 5 stars when it wasn't a 5 star book for me. If you would like to know more about what didn't work for me click on the spoiler but don't do it if you want to be spoiled (hence the spoiler tag).

Deeper. Stronger. Needier. It's too late to turn back now, I'm In Deep... Yup, those Lockhart brothers are addictive. And if that isn't enough, the residents of the town of Lovely will capture your heart. Whether it's at Miss Dee Dee's Dance Depot or the Diner across the street, you'll find amazing colorful characters that provide family support. Especially for those that don't have a supportive family of their own. I have to tell you, this book is my fave, it's so full of all the things I love in a good book. Strong friendships, family support, witty banter, horizontal and vertical dance moves, Ed Sheeran, stress-baking, secrets and suspense. All of the Lockhart brothers are sexy and talented, but this story is about Mason. Only time will tell, but I think he might be my favorite of the brothers. He shares my love for dirty-dancing, dirty-fighting, dirty-texting, dirty-talkin', dirty-sex, and of course, technology. It's really funny when the brothers get together, they tend to 'over-share' and in my opinion there's no such thing as TMI in one of their conversations. I can't wait for Kyle to finally get what he's been missing out on. I'm looking forward to his story and for more time with all the characters I've already been introduced to. Oh my...Erica...sniffle...heart-shaped lump in my throat. ❤️
This is the second book in the series and deals with bother Mason. Mason is an interesting character. He’s a player, one who doesn’t want anything more than – to put it rather crudely, a place to put it. He’s very charming and handsome so he never has any problems finding ‘that place’. But he meets his match with our heroine April. She played a pivotal role in the first book of this series. She has come to Lovely to ben a den mother to a group home of unwed teen age girls. She and Mason had met briefly earlier at the weddding of Reed and Lily. She’s moved back now and overhears Mason talking about her in not so flattering terms and she is less than impressed with this lothario. When he sees her and realizes she’s not as mousy as he first though he wants April to be his next ‘place’. But having heard him speak of her, she is not about to let him charm her, no siree Bob. So the more he tries to get her interest, the more she rebuffs him which makes him want her even more.
Mason really is charming and I really liked him. He’s determined not to let his heart get involved but of course once he meets his match in April he can’t help it. He’s really quite adorable. He gets overprotective of April even though she neither needs nor wants it. He’s quite intelligent and is quite a success but also has a dark side that he keeps hidden from his family that makes him even more interesting
And I like April too. Anyone who can withstand Morgan’s charm, and he does have it in spades, as long as she does has to be admired. Of course she does give in to him because this is a romance after all. But once Morgan decides that April is it for him he is all in. We saw in the previous book what a good and caring person she is and that is only reinforced in this book.
The first book in this series, Deep Down, was extremely intense and emotional. In Deep also has its intense moments, but this story overall has a much lighter feel. Same great writing, same great character development, and a warming small town romance can be found in this one.
Mason is handsome, confident, and makes no apologies about his casual outlook on women. Fighting his feelings has always been a natural way of life for him. Settling down isn’t a thought that he has actively entertained. Meeting and getting to know April has him questioning what he has been missing out on and wondering if the committed relationships that his brothers have found, is actually something he can see himself getting used to.
April is the new house mom at the Grieves House, a home and safe haven for pregnant teens. She’s passionate about helping the girls and finding herself a man has been set on the back burner. She’s caring, nurturing, and feels much too demur for the likes of Mason Lockhart.
The connection of these characters is somewhat of a slow build. They progress from dance partners, to each others confidant, to intimate friends. When they finally make the sexual connection, it is passionate, dirty and delicious. Mason is quite the dirty talker and April, the supposed mousy librarian type, LOVES it!
As with any story, this couple faces highs and lows, but of course this author wraps up their journey with a happily ever after we all crave.
I enjoyed Mason and April’s story and I’m looking forward to see how Kyle’s comes together.
I don't think I've rated anything Brenda Rothert has written under 4 stars... That being said, I was enjoying the book, but I felt it needed another (5 maybe) more chapters. It was a good story but felt the ending was wrapped up in the last chapter and a half.
I was surprised and not in a good way. I've always loved reading ANYTHING Brenda Rather writes. So what happened? I hope this doesn't happen again.
Hey, maybe BR will write a novella about this book. What happened to Colton? What happened with the law suit? Anyway, still looking forward for her next book on another Lockhart brother.
There are situations in our lives that mold the way we look at things, that teach us hard lessons that are hard to get over, and sometimes take us through a path that is not what we would've chosen for ourselves, but it becomes a distraction, a escape to help us forget and survive.
Mason Lockhart is an incredibly intelligent man, but when someone special betrays him, he finds a way to express his anger, an outlet for all the sadness and resentment left behind. April moves to Lovely, Missouri to be close to her best friend Ivy and to take charge over the Grieves house, a home and save haven for pregnant teenagers. She's well educated and lovely woman, but she's a simple girl. She doesn't have much experience with men, and her first encounter with her best friend's brother in law, who she finds very attractive, starts on the wrong foot.
The more Mason gets to know April the more he finds himself attracted to her. I like the fact that they started as friend and that their relationship grew until they became intimate. And Mr. Lockhart ladies and gents is HAWT! Mason is a take charge, dirty talker, type of guy, the kind that April has never experienced, the kind that gets her motor going and brings out her wild side.
But like sometimes happens in life, they both have struggles from their pasts that they need to overcome, battle scars that need to heal in order to give love and each other a chance.
This book has a fantastic storyline with great main characters, both looking to love and be loved, for someone to accept them just the way they are. There's a particular scene that touched my soul. It brought an array of emotions to the surface and I cried for a while. I loved the raw emotion of that scene, as well as those of the characters involved in it. The Lockhart brother have a great dynamic going on, you can feel the sense of camaraderie within them and the love and respect the have for each other. This book felt REAL to me, situations that could happen to any of us, hurdles that some of us go through at one point or another during our lifetimes which we have to overcome in order to be grow and become a better person.
I love Brenda's writing, she's one of the few authors I can trust to always deliver an interesting story that will capture not only my attention, but my heart. I really hope you guys love it as much as I did.
P.S. Ladies, get ready for Mason. He's a sexy dirty talker, my type of man!
In the second Lockhart brothers book we get to know Mason and April. I loved April in the first book, Reed and Ivy's story, so I was very excited to see her find an HEA. I enjoyed learning more about April and Mason, their families and their pasts. I especially enjoyed the scenes with Ivy and April and between Miss Dee Dee and April.
This story is fairly fast paced. For me, April's feelings for Mason bordered on insta-love. No, she didn't fall for him on page 1, but I felt like she went from zero to one hundred pretty quickly. I would have liked to have seen April, and the rest of Mason's family, struggle more with the big Boston secret. When the secret came into the open, the family's reaction and acceptance of that part of Mason's life almost felt rushed to me. I would have felt more connected to April if she had struggled more with understanding and accepting Mason's involvement with the club Boston.
Brenda Rothert is one of my few immediate one-click authors, and that hasn't changed. I'm looking forward to the next Lockhart series book and finding out what is in store for Kyle!
In Deep by Brenda Rothert is absolutely amazing !!! I fell in love with Mason & April from the very beginning and couldn't put this book down.
Mason is so used to pushing any form emotional attachments away and being the one night stand kind of guy. April has been hired by her friends Ivy & Reed to run Grieves House, a safe haven for pregnant teenagers. She has warmth and compassion that leaps off the pages and is willing to defend those she holds dear.
April fights her attraction to Mason , however both of them finds themselves unable to deny their obvious chemistry.
Rothert has out done herself with In Deep. Between the characters that are so relatable and the intriguing storyline. This is one book you won't want to put down. Loved !!!
I have been a fan of brenda's since her ice series. Her story telling is always new and different, not the same old stuff. This lochhart series is looking to be her best stories yet. Fell in love with these brothers from the first book and Mason's story is no different. Love it when a bad boy turns good with the help of another. the characters are great and we get to catch up on old characters as well. The chemistry between him and april is great and kept me reading until i couldnt anymore to see what happens next. Thank you brenda for the arc and cant wait for the next brother!!!
I love this series and Brenda Rothert has a truly amazing gift for story telling. Although Mason's story was MUCH different than Reed's it was no less an amazing read. And the pairing between Mason and April was absolutely superb. I cannot wait to see what she does with Kyle. My prediction is that his ladylove will be Alyssa, April's sister. I am going to love his story either way :D.
I'm enjoying this series. I had kind of already figured out what Mason's secret was going to be so it wasn't really a surprise. But I do like how the secret was revealed. I really like April, I liked her in the first book so bringing her here was fun. I enjoyed how close the Lockhart clan is, so we get to see them all in a small way through each book. I especially love how the brothers get together for lunches and to play basketball together. The only negative comment I have is that is seems some story lines just kind of go away. SPOILER............................ok so there is that small story with Colton and although something did happen it just kind of vanished. And the ending with what happened with Mason, it is not brought up in the 3rd book so why start the story line.................OK back to normal. I really like that you get a little bit from each brother so when the next book comes along you kind of already have a bit of history. It doesn't mean the other books are lacking you just get a little bonus that's all. I am enjoying these books and I can't wait for Kyle's book.
What can I say about April and Mason? I just loved these two. I love how open they both were to each other. It was great see how different they were and how perfectly they are for each other.
Review by Jen Skewes In Deep is book two in the Lockhart Brothers Series but can be read as a stand alone. And as always Brenda Rothert did not disappoint with this one.
April has just moved to the town of Lovely where she will be the house mother at the Grieves House, a place for young pregnant teenagers that was started by her best friend Ivy and her husband Reed. She is a sweet, smart and independent woman who was there for Ivy when she needed someone the most. She loves her job and loves being there to help these pregnant girls. But when it comes to her love life, well let’s just say she is lacking in that particular area. When she meets Mason Lockhart, her best friend’s brother-in-law, they seem to get off on the wrong foot. She has some issues with Mason and he is not exactly sure as to why.
Mason is cocky and sexy and a bit of an alpha male. Being hurt by someone he loved and trusted in his past is the reason for his casual flings. He has no desire to have a relationship with another woman. When he first sees April she is not anything like the women that he normally hooks ups with. He honestly has no interest in her until he actually meets her and talks to her and he realizes that there is more to April than he thought. She is sweet and caring and he wants to get to know her. But he knows that April is not the type of woman that you sleep with once and never see again. Plus she is his sister-in-laws best friend. So he knows that he has to take it slow, which he does. But when things start to heat up for the two of them, will their past get in the way of any future that they have together?
Let me just say that I loved Mason. He is sexy and sweet and one hell of a dirty talker who also likes to be in control. Sex with Mason is unlike any sexual experience that she has ever had before and it brings out her wild side. But it is more than just a physical connection between the two of them. Mason has a secret and April is the first person that he opens up to about it. And no matter how much he says it is nothing more than a casual relationship you know that he is falling for. And April knew from the very beginning that falling for Mason Lockhart would be easy but at the same time risky. She may risk her heart but she would take that chance.
I loved this book. Mason and April may have had some struggles due to their past but I knew that together they can get past it all. I loved that Ivy and Mason’s family were still a big part of this book and series. Ivy and April have such an amazing friendship, one that just feels so real. And the love that the Lockharts have for each other will touch your heart. They love each other and look out for each other. This series is about love, loss, friendships and family. I cannot wait to see who is next. I am keeping my fingers crossed for Kyle because if any member of the Lockhart family deserves a happily ever after it is him. Another wonderful job by Ms. Rothert.
First Thoughts: I'm happy that I ended up reading this because it tends to get a bit annoying when the blurbs are vague to the point that I have no idea what the book is about. I was willing to try it because I liked the first book of the series.
What Is It About: Mason is the man whore of the Lockhart brothers, the only single one if you don't include the recently divorced Kyle. He has a big secret that he hides from his family, it's his way of blowing off steam. He's a mathematical genius, who owns his own technological security business. The heroine is already known to the reader, which I didn't know from the blurb obviously. April is the teacher who helped Ivy in the first book. She comes to Lovely to be the "house mum" to the pregnant teenagers that Ivy's charity helps. She's smart, loves baking and is incredibly brave at certain points in this book. Although she doesn't like Mason at the start as he calls her mousey, their relationship blossoms through their family's matchmaking and Mason actually trying for once.
What I Liked and Didn't: I liked April's character, the way that she nurtured all of the kids in this book and how this behaviour linked to her own upbringing was well written. Mason was a sweetheart, wooing April and he was adorable with his nephews. I didn't guess his secret at all but it's somewhat hinted at in the first book. I liked how the entire plot wasn't just about Mason's secret and how there was the extra element of the whole Colton storyline. I think that the main thing that I don't like is just the blurb. It's not well written because it doesn't tell you anything at all about the book, if I'd walked up to this in a book store I probably wouldn't have read it because of the blurb. It took me reading the first book and reading the reviews to want to read it. My tip, which probably won't be listened to obviously, would be to re-write the blurb to actually mention the book and characters. I didn't even know it was about April and she was a pretty helpful character in the first book.
Final Thoughts: It was a pretty good read, a bit more light-hearted than the first book and the secret was rather original. Would I recommend it? Yes but obviously after the first so you get used to the characters. Will I be reading the sequel? Definitely, I was hoping for Kyle's one. Although I'm guessing there can only be one more book for the brother who doesn't like in Lovely considering that Austin is happily married. Hopefully Miss Rothert doesn't mess that up just for another book.
Not only is Mason Lockhart the brilliant and successful owner of his own tech firm, he is also the epitome of the strong alpha male. Sexy and smart, he knows what he wants, and isn't afraid to go for it. And April Byerly is NOT what Mason wants, he's sure of it. Or is he...?
Brenda Rothert is one of my go-to authors. Her books are always guaranteed to be full of heart, and to have characters and stories that touch me. After having met both Mason and April in DEEP DOWN, the first book in the Lockhart Brother series, I was excited to see that they would be getting their own story. Mason is deliciously alpha. He's happy playing the field, dating women that he wouldn't take home to meet his parents. He seems to have everything under control, but is harboring a secret that he hasn't shared with anyone except a few others. April, who has come to Lovely to run the home for unwed mothers opened by Ivy and Reed Lockhart, is not the type of woman that Mason usually goes for. It isn't long, though, before they find themselves drawn to each other, and down the path that neither one anticipated (HINT: It involves dirty-talking, late night texts, and using a library for other than its intended purpose... ;-)).
My only issue is that things proceeded so quickly, especially in the relationship between Mason and April. While I could see why Mason would fall for April, it was just so dramatically sudden that I was a bit surprised, and this is the only thing that keeps me from giving the book less than 5 stars. I am more than happy to suspend any disbelief, though, because I absolutely love all of the characters in IN DEEP, and the storyline as well (Miss Dee Dee and Kyle are two of my favorites, and I could not be happier to know that Kyle will be getting his own story very soon.). I am really enjoying this new series from Brenda. IN DEEP gets 4.5 stars from me; grab this one and enjoy.

In Deep is the second book in the Lockhart Brother series. Each book is a standalone, but the first book would give you some background information. The book is told from April and Mason’s alternating POV.
As we go through our lives, we may have similar experiences, but what makes us unique is how we deal with our emotions. We hope we’ll deal with crap life throws at us well. Many times we turn don’t deal properly with the issue. We drink too much, spend money we don’t have, have meaningless sex, forget to live, bury ourselves in work, etc. Of course, we are not proud of this behavior. We hide it from the ones that love us the most. That’s exactly what Mason has been doing. He’s a genius and wealthy, but he will not let himself feel. He has been hiding his pain and has found certain outlets that allow him not to feel.
April is just the opposite. Her past causes her to feel more than your average person. She easily attaches to people. She’s naturally caregiver, and perfect for Grieves House. She was a high school science teacher before she moved to Lovely. She wants to live a simple life and Mason is not simple.
Mason and April’s relationship starts off unlikely friendship and dance partners. But sometimes friendship moves towards love. It was a natural progression for Mason and April. Both completed the other person. Mason is a dirty boy and loves his dirty talk. Good thing April likes it too. The sex scenes are pretty hot and on the steamy side.
While I don’t want to give away any spoilers, I do want to put a trigger warning out for individuals of domestic violence.
This book was my first book in the Lockhart Brothers series. There were times I was confused about who people where, their connections, ages, and where the idea behind Grieves House came from. You can piece it together but it definitely would help if you read the first book prior to this book. I don’t believe it took away from the story though.
Overall I loved the book and plan to read the first book.
I should start by saying I absolutely loved the cover page of this book ^^. The story is something I could guess so it hadn't been much of a secret to me :)
Mason: I must say I loved Mason he is sweet, passionate and an adorable person :D He had been so good to his nephew and his brother. I loved the way he is with his family too ;)
April: I found her to be annoying a lil. She stereotyped Mason which I really didn't enjoy much but none the less I loved her for how supportive she had been for all those girls who needed her :D
I loved the way Mason danced with April is was charismatic ;)
The background of how one can help women who truly want your help and especially young girls, how they were being handled by the Lockharts has been beautifully potrayed.
What is the secret that Mason has and how will it effect his family and friends.
Mason is your that loves women, but has no desire to settle down. He has a successful business, very smart, and blows off steam in a a way that his family doesn't know about. April is the house mom at safe haven for pregnant teens. When they meet Mason thinks she is "mousy" and that sticks in April's mind. Little does he know how deep April will affect him.
As Mason and April struggle with their feelings for each other they also have to deal with secrets and tragedy's in their past. As they develop a relationship they also grow as themselves. I loved this book because all of the characters were well developed and add to the story. You have three pregnant teenagers that have to deal with so much and they have April to help them. Mason's family is out spoken, loving, and stand by each other. You will laugh, cry and struggle right along with all of the characters. There is romance, angst, and compassion in this story. The story line flows well and moves at a pace that will keep you interested.
I am looking forward to reading more about the Lockhart family.

First and foremost, you really shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. That being said - that cover is frikkin amazeballs! Seriously those eyes; that beard; that man: totally yum-alicious Mason package. This cover proves that males do not need to be half naked to grab a reader’s attention. If I had a printed copy of this book, it would not be shelved with the spine showing. No-sirreeee-bob!!! This baby would be giving momma a full frontal.
In Deep is Mason and April’s story. Mason is Reed’s brother from Deep Down, and April is Ivy’s former teacher/friend who comes to Lovely to fill the position of live-in "mom" for Grieves House. When these two meet, it isn’t insta-love. No, theirs is a slow burn, going from “frenemies” at a misunderstanding, to friends to lovers.
Similar to the first installment of the Lockhart Brothers, the main characters rock it, but the secondary characters are the bomb! I especially loved Miss Dee Dee and Kyle – can’t wait to read his story next.
Brenda, you never disappoint. I love how the storylines you have locked away in your head are so dissimilar, but yet appeal to all your fans. Keep them Lockharts coming!
