Cuba Undercover by Linda Bond is a 2015 Entangled publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I have to say I am really impressed.

This romantic suspense novel is centered around Cuban- American Rebecca Menendez and Antonio Vega, a man desperate to save his sister from an abusive marriage and find safe passage out of Cuba for his family.

Antonio has watched Rebecca for a long

If you are looking for the perfect summer read, this is it! Well written, very suspenseful and fast paced, this romantic thriller is easy to get lost in. Plus, set partly in Cuba, it gives you a close up look at that intriguing country, and the strong emotions Cuban Americans feel toward their homeland. Linda Bond has created some complex characters including a strong heroine perfectly capable of rescuing herself. Thoroughly enjoyed this book!

I like that Antonio is honest with Rebecca about why he was "kidnapping" her from the beginning even if he held back the part about her dad until later. I like the loyalty of her camera man throughout the story.

Between the pages of Cuba Undercover by Linda Bond was a great place to be! Having been to Cuba a few times, I was excited to read a book in which a lot of the setting was in Cuba. Through Linda's vivid and accurate descriptions, I could not only see the place and people she detailed in my mind, but I could feel the humidity and the heat.

I really liked the overall plot and theme of Cuba Undercover...especially since Linda manages to draw attention to a lot of ongoing political and humanitarian i

This was a great romantic story about a Cuban-American TV reporter & handsome Cuban man. Story starts as TV reporter Rebecca Menendez just finished giving a live TV report and she is about to get back in the tv van when she and her camera man are kidnapped and taken to Antonio Vega. He needs Rebecca’s help in saving his sister’s life in Cuba. Also he wants to use Rebecca’s media profile and political clout for more person

According to her biography, Linda Bond is an Emmy-winning journalist. She’s able to draw on her work experiences when she creates her characters, and has even reported from Cuba. That’s where she met her husband and adopted one of her sons. So when she describes the view of the Havana skyline from the wall of the Castillo De Los Tres Reyes Del Morro or Morrow Castle, or the feel of balancing on that wall, it’s from being there. She has seen the poverty of that island country firsthand, and felt ...more

Mission accomplished, Ms. Bond!

Life was going well for reporter Rebecca Menendez, she was even eyeing a promotion into Special Investigation. One evening while on her way to a fundraising, she and her cameraman Dallas Jones are summoned to climb in a van by armed men. One of these men is Antonio Vega, who says he needs Rebecca’s help. He’s going to Cuba to rescue his sister and he knows Rebecca can help him document his sister’s rescue. Rebecca, who is Cuban-American, wants nothing to do with Cu

Cuba Undercover is the story of Antonio, a Cuban American working to save his sister from an abusive relationship and bring her to America, and Rebecca, the TV journalist he somewhat forcefully enlists to help him.

This is an intelligent, well-written and unique story. The action is fast-paced and intense, with lots of edge-of-your-seat, "How are they going to get out of this?" moments. And the attraction between Antonio and Rebecca sizzles along at an undeniable slow burn throughout. I really en

Cuba Undercover is an action packed romantic suspense filled with intrigue, suspense (of course!), and a ton of sexual tension.

Thrilling and adventurous, Author Linda Bond paints a portrait of Cuba with her beautiful and realistic descriptions and you can imagine yourself right there along side the characters. This is the first time I have read a book set in Cuba and Bond did a great job at describing Cuba to the point where I felt as if I had just been transported to another country.

Rebecca Melendez is a TV reporter with a growing reputation for great investigatory reporting. description

I didn’t realize that this was the second book in the series, but I didn’t have any trouble following along the story line.

AS for my thoughts on the book, I liked it but it wasn’t my favorite book. I really thought that it would have had more action/suspense but it didn’t. There really wasn’t a lot of that.
As for the character I liked them enough. They weren’t my favorite but I didn’t hate them either.

I enjoyed it. I think that it peo

This was a great thrill ride of a book. Cuba Undercover by Linda Bond is a must read for the summer. It had suspense, fast paced and a thrilling adventure. The book was also well written and hooks you on the first page. Cuba Undercover explores some of Cuba which I though was really cool it made you feel like you were there with the characters. Uniquely crafted with unexpected twists and turns, Cuba Undercover is Rebecca Menendez's story, whose Cuban heritage and media clout place her in prime position to throw light on the plight of Cuban citizens desperately seeking asylum in the States. But the man who kidnaps her for that reason has other shady reasons for doing so and Rebecca soon finds out this is more personal than she originally thought it had been.

Cuba Undercover is an easy, absorbing read with rather likeable characters, she

So, I liked the premise of the story, kidnapping a reporter for a rescue mission in a dangerous country. The suspense was great and kept you involved. What kept me from just loving this story is the flow of the writing, it seemed stilted to me and it was hard to read in places. The references to their country and the pride they should have etc., I thought was excessive as well. The romance was just okay for me, I didn't feel that spark or connection that usually you get from two aggressive perso ...more

As a Cuban, I’m often skeptical when it comes to books relating to Cuba. But this was well done and definitely influenced by Cuban Americans. And they’re referencing my home town! Bonus for me!

Antonio Vega needs to rescue his sister from their hometown of Güira de Melena, Cuba. Rebecca, a reporter from Tampa and her cameraman, are his way in, he thinks. Because asking would never work, he and his cronies kidnap her instead. He tells her that, in exchange, he will rescue her father and bring him

Filled with drama, nail biting suspense and intrigue. I loved the character of the videographer “Dawg”, he was just hilarious. The issues that played out with the domestic violence and the struggle to exit Cuba were dealt with excellently. It shows the depth of research that is the author did in making sure that the story was portrayed as authenticity as possible.

This is the first time in reading this author for me. I picked this one because it promised fast pace action with heated romance. Right away when you enter this novel you are pulled in by Rebecca and the job she does she can deliver quite a story. someone else though wants her to deliver also and they decide to take her along with them. Cuba is the last place she wants to go but she does not really have a choice. Antonio has her number so to speak and off they go. The pace really picks up now an ...more

I gave this one the old college try, but this book is just not for me. I didn't care for the characters. Antonio was an angry a-hole, and Rebecca lacked depth. The romance between the two was not believable for me. There was no warmth or emotion to it.

Given my profession, I am also at odds with the alien smuggling. At around 67%, in regard to bringing Cubans over on a private boat and landing at a marina, Rebecca states that they "did it the right way" and "didn't break any laws." This is absolu

The premise of the book was very intriguing and lived up to the intrigue. Antonio was very strong and very commanding. But he got as good as he gave with Rebecca. She was a spitfire and I enjoyed every minute of her time. She went for the underdog, helped those less fortunate than her, and didn't succumb to what others commanded her to do. She was a strong female character. I thoroughly liked her character. And the connection/chemistry between Rebecca and Antonio was intense amplified with their ...more

A fast paced romantic suspense that takes us to Cuba and back! The story was exciting, fast paced, and very well written. While all the events weren't completely factual, they weren't so for off the mark you can't accept them as artistic license. Being a native Floridian, I have been exposed to the Cuban culture my whole life and the depiction of their love of family and hatred of Castro was right on the mark. Whether you know a little or a lot about the culture, this story gets top marks for su ...more

This was an exciting read that was very well written, full of suspense and had very interesting characters that made this book a page turner. Being set in Cuba the political side of their country is very prevalent to the story but it does not take away all of the storyline. The romance was a nice addition to plot and I really enjoyed this book.
