Drunk On You was a bit of a disappointment for me. I didn't love it, but neither did I dislike it. Allie and Justin are likeable, sympathetic characters that I wanted to see get their HEA. They've both been through a lot, and deserve to be happy. Maybe it was just my mood when I read it, but the story just didn't grab me the way I hoped it would. There were aspects of the story that I enjoyed, but there were also predictable plot points an ...more

I had so much fun reading Drunk on You. It's a perfect read to wrap up the summer with a drink in your hand.
Allie and Justin are hilarious together. It's hard trying to confine in your feelings when you've been in love with your brother's best friend for years. And Allie finds her old crush coming back to life when Justin comes home from being in the military. Justin is surly, and definitely confused. He's attracted to Allie, ...more

My Thoughts:

I'd like to thank NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC for providing me with a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
As far as adult books go, this was okay. I did think there wasn't that much chemistry between Allie and Greg (I don't know who that Justin on the blurb is). The ending was very predictable, and given the lack of real tension between the two, the whole thing was just *meh*.

Oh sweet, sweet bourbon. Drunk on you is one of those books I instantly was hooked on. Great characters, great supporting characters and a really good, grab a hold of you storyline. For me, it was something different, you don't typically get to read about bourbon making families these days, so it's definitely a different trope in that regard. However, it's also a story about friends who do become lovers.

I laughed and cried… then laughed some more…
Allie McGrath and Greg Morgan are part of Kentucky bourbon history. Their families’ distillery had fumbled but decades old traditions was finally seeing the company start back on solid ground. Their legacy came with responsibilities and expectations, both of which they were rebelling against though for much different reasons. Bourbon, love, and loss fuel a journey that would either bring them closer together or tear them apart forever.

From the first page, Stanley captured my attention. Drunk On You is full of wonderfully written characters, a great and engaging plot, and a story line that demands your attention. I was even intrigued by the supporting characters that Stanley has included.

I love Netgalley. They provide you books in exchange for an honest review. And while there are a few authors on there who kill a few of my brain cells, you often find a new author who truly takes you on a journey.
This was my experience with Teri Anne Stanley’s Drunk on You.
This was a charming story about a shared history, teenage heartbreak and learning to forgive yourself in grief.

I picked up this book because I was in a southern mood, and it's been a while since I read a story featuring the Kentucky Bourbon industry. Being a Tennessee girl with family in Kentucky, I thought I would connect with this story. And I did for the most part. This is a short steamy romance that paced well and had me rooting for the characters.

Drunk On You was a really quick and good read for me.
It’s sort of a different take on the dating your brother’s best friend. Allie has always felt more towards Justin since she knew him. As they got older, Allie realized that he wasn’t going to return those feelings so she moved on.
Justin returns from Afghanistan dealing with alot of different things. Coming back to civilian life is only just the beginning for him. He is trying to get a handle on the death of his best friend and Allie’s brother, ...more

Author, Teri Anne Stanley, selected the beautiful state of Kentucky as the main setting for her contemporary romance. Stories set in my home state are an addiction of mine; as a bonus this novella was written by a fellow Kentuckian.
I enjoyed reading about Allie and Greg’s adventurous road trip from Kentucky to Georgia. The author provided plenty of particulars about the incredible peripheral characters they met along the way. However, it was the dynamic Greg that intrigued this reader the most; ...more

This was a quick run read between a strong quirky woman who secretly crushed on her brother's best friend most of her life. I loved how Allie wore her heart on her sleeve for Justin. Haven't we all been there? An unrequited crush with that best friend? And I could feel her heartbreak when it wasn't returned. I guess that is what I like about this book. Teri Anne Stanley made it relatable to where you could picture yourself in Allie's shoes. I adored Allie, ambitious, sarcastic, creative, full of

Justin Morgan's the guy whom Allie McGrath has always wanted, but her irrepressible and tough nature doesn't keep her down long, even when she realised that he has never had eyes for her at all. 8 years later, Justin's out from the Marines and battling the heavy guilt of having her brother's death on his hands...when Allie blows back into his life with a scheme of wanting to market a new, modern form of whiskey that's a radical departure from the family's traditional brew.

I found this to be a very entertaining read! It's very well written but could use a little closer editing, although it's nothing that takes away from the overall story. Greg is home from Afghanistan filled with guilt and trying to drown those memories with bourbon. Allie has been in love with Greg forever but he has always looked at her as his best friend's little sister. After a fire at their families distillery, the are thrown together to come up with a way to repair things before their parent

What a lovely story! I instantly fell in love with Allie and Justin. This story has it all heartbreak and love are the two main emotions and reading I felt them both. The characters are so easy to understand I really liked that Allie helped Justin battle his demons from being at war even if she didn't know she was doing it. The side characters are also really funny and make even the most heartbreaking moment bearable. This is the first book I have read by this author but it won't be the last. I

I scored an ARC of Drunk on You - and I'm glad I did. The best friend's (forbidden) little sister is a familiar trope but the family distillery added a twist (do you drink bourdon with a twist?) to keep the story fresh. Good characters and a plot that moved made this a great beach read.

DNF. Have you ever felt like halfway through the book, you don’t really understand what you’re reading? That’s me for this book, I really wanted to continue reading - I liked the plot and characters, but I just couldn’t grasp what I was reading. I don’t think I have the energy to re-read from the beginning, sadly.

Just a quick note before I start the actual review. In my ARC the main character's name is Greg but everywhere else it seems to be Justin. So just a warning in case I accidentally slip and call him Greg. I'm not mixing up books I promise! On with the praise...

Drunk on You is my first book by Teri Anne Stanley. I was drawn in immediately with the blurb though as it had pretty much every single box checked when it comes to my favorite tropes. There was a lot to like in this contemporary romance, but I found myself having a few issues with the story. As much as I wanted to love this story, it just wasn't for me.

I had so much fun reading this book!
(And then I went to the Internet and found out that the hero suddenly has a different name. I'm really glad he was "Greg" in the version I read--otherwise I would have spent the whole time with Justin Morgan Had a Horse running through my head. Am I totally dating myself here? Anyway, if I slip up and call him by the "wrong" name, you'll know why.)

I did like this book, but I didn’t love it.
I love books where the guy falls for his best friends little sister. And that is the case for this book. And add that he’s an ex-military guy and lives in my home state-Kentucky, how could I not give this a try?
The book started out good. It was pretty interesting at first, but as it went on, some of the things Greg says/ does really annoyed me. For example, his excuse about anything that has ...more
