I enjoyed Solheim's other series so I thought I would give this series a try. It's a little different then what I expected but overall I really got into and was rooting for the characters.

Miles is in the middle of his campaign to be a congressman when his mother is hurt. He goes home to run his mothers b& b while she is healing only to find the cook/ maid Lori running things. Although Miles is attracted to her he knows she is hiding something and he wants to know what it is since his family

Don’t Hold On so Tight: ALL THEY EVER WANTED by Tracy Solheim
Original Post: http://fangswandsandfairydust.com/201...

Tracy has really and truly come into her own with this series. And this novel in particular addresses a great concept in really becoming and adult: re-evaluating our childhood dreams in the face of reality.

In Lori’s case her dreams were partly constructive, naive and headstrong. The naivete and stubborn streak made her dreams destructive. She sought apoproval from a parent thinking it wou

Miles McAlister is a man with a plan. Since he was a little boy, he has had his life mapped out. Finding love, running for office, these were all part of his agenda. But losing his girlfriend at a young age closed the door on love, leaving a political career and his family his sole focus. He had no room for romance or anything to mar his squeaky clean, “Dudley Do Right” image. Lori certainly wasn’t part of the plan.

Miles. Oh, Miles. Mr. Dudley Do Right! I have to say, when it came to this book, my favorite character was Miles! This is a story of a man who has a plan… a plan when he is a child of what he wants to accomplish in life, and he doesn’t let anything deter him of it. Not death, tragedy, chaos, family or anything else. He’s running for Congress and, after that, President. But let’s get through the Congressional Run first.

Living in the small town where he grew up, helping his mother out at the Inn

All he ever fought for...

Aspiring congressman Miles McAlister has dreamed of representing his hometown of Chances Inlet, North Carolina, since he was a boy. So when he’s asked to help run his mother’s bed and breakfast he moves home and rolls out his campaign at the same time. But political stardom isn’t a given, especially when he’s expected to compromise the very ideals he’s trying to uphold. Making matters worse is the inn’s stubborn, and distractingly beautiful cook. He’s loved and lost before, so falling

Great book, great series. In the 2nd book of Second Chances. Miles McAllister has questions about the women his mother has hired to help her with the family B&B. He knows Lori Hunt is hiding something. He will find out just what that is. It's just he has other things that are occupying his time. The campaign to represent his hometown of Chances Inlet. When you live in a small town everyone knows your business. He's falling for Lori, and just hopes no one will find out. He has worked too hard ...more

All They Ever Wanted is very well written. The setting is a cozy inn in NC and the characters are very well developed. Miles is a campaigning politician and Lori is temporary help at the inn who is hiding a shady past. Their worlds collide when the matriarch is recovering from a hit-and-run accident and the family rallies to help run the inn. Miles and Lori both know that they shouldn't let the sparks between them ignite, but alas it turns out that it is too hard to resist. There are some really well ...more

I loved reading the antics between Miles, Gavin, Kate and their mother Patricia. The conversation between the siblings often had me laughing out loud. I also loved the dynamic between Patricia and Lamar - written perfectly. Another enjoyable read from author Tracy Solheim.

This second book in the series continues my enjoyment of the people who live in Chances Inlet, a small town in North Carolina that is a beacon to those that need a second chance in life.

Miles McAlister is a politician running for a US Congressman Seat. He has had his life planned since he was a kid and hates being broadsided by a surprise event, however living with a large, close knit family comes with the unexpected. His mother Patricia owns a B&B called Tide Me Over and since h

All They Ever Wanted by Tracy Solheim is the 2nd book in her Second Chances series. In All They Ever Wanted, Miles McAlister is our hero, and we had already met him in the first book of this, as he was Gavin’s (previous hero) brother. Miles is the politician in the family, have planned since he was a child to become the President one day. Now that Miles is older, he still plans on his political career, running for congressman in his hometown in Chances Inlet, North Carolina. Miles is well respe ...more

So, reading All They Ever Wanted by Tracy Solheim took a little longer than I expected. Nothing is wrong with this story, and I thoroughly enjoyed the story. Life wasn't working with me, so it took a little longer than expected. Okay, I haven't read Back to Before, but I totally want too. Yes, there are a few of the characters that would be found in the first book. It might help, because the story is moving forward. However, it's pretty easy to pick up the story from

My Review:
I really loved every moment of reading this book. It was one of those that I hated to see the pages go past because I didn't want the story to end.

This book is about two very different people. Miles is the oldest of his five siblings and he's always had his life mapped out. He's very regimented, controlled, and lives his life with a very straight moral code. And he's a politician in the middle of a congressional race.

Lori doesn't want anyone to notice her. She's on t

Lori Hunt/Buchman found what she thought was the perfect job by working at the Bed & Breakfast in Chances Inlet, North Carolina. No one knew who she was and she wanted to keep it that way, so she kept herself in the background and quiet. Lori is trying to save money so she can leave and get to a place where she feels safe. She just never expected to fall in love with not only the town itself but the people in it. It does not help when the boss’s son shows up it throws her for a loop, because ...more

Good story with well-developed characters.

This is a Second Chances novel, but also ties into another Tracy Solheim series, “Out of Bounds”. However, this can be read as a stand-alone – it just contains characters from the other books. This story focuses on Chances Inlet, North Carolina and the McAlister family, specifically Miles McAlister who is an aspiring congressman and the housekeeper/cook for his mother’s Bed and Breakfast inn, Lori Hunt.

I have to admit – I wasn’t a

Favorite Quotes:

“He looked up to find that Tanya’s wide smile had a nasty edge to it. Miles resisted the urge to cross his legs and shield the family jewels.”

“Bernice was the queen bee of Chance’s Inlet’s gossip hive. Any information told to or overheard by the woman was spread around town with more efficiency than an Amber Alert.”

All They Ever Wanted is a compelling book about Miles McAlister, an aspiring politician, and Lori Buchman, the mysterious young woman who is a cook at the McAlister family's B and B. Miles, who is still nursing a broken heart, is also trying to keep his image as a squeaky-clean politician. Although Miles is attracted to Lori, he's worried that whatever secret she is hiding could harm his campaign. Lori can't deny the sparks that fly between them but is also harboring secrets from her past, and u ...more

I really loved this book! The main characters, the secondary characters, the interactions... I laughed and I teared up. I loved the sibling and family interactions. Miles is literally a good guy, trying hard to remain that same guy in politics. He set his goals when he was 10 and has no plans to compromise them, even with the unexpected things that have come up. One thing he never planned on happening again was falling in love, especially not with someone who is so obviously hiding something lik ...more

It's not too often I read a book and want to shout out "Woo Hoo!" and throw a fist-pump in the air, but I had a few of those moments with this book. Right from the beginning, Lori and Miles are not big fans of each other. Lori is trying to fly under the radar just long enough until she can leave. Miles is in the middle of a huge political campaign, that has him in the spotlight. They are on completely different ends of the spectrum, but that doesn't stop the sparks from flying between them. Another great read by Tracy Solheim...I love her stories and her characters! It was so much fun reading Miles' and Lori's story, both of their characters were complex and flawed. I love that Tracy makes you love her characters one minute and want to shake them the next, she does a great job of making them real. My emotions ran all over...one minute I was laughing out loud and the next- tears. It has just enough suspense to get you on the edge of your seat sometimes, as usual she tells great seco ...more

I discovered Tracy Solheim's books a couple years ago when I was looking for a new author to read. As soon as I discovered her Out of Bounds series I was hooked. I was excited to see she was doing a new series and I already love her Second Chances series. All They Ever Wanted is the second book in the series.

Miles has always lived his life according to his list of how his life should be. Part of that list includes running for office as a congressman. His focus is fully on his campaign while hel

Miles had his future mapped out from the time he was ten years old. However, he has to make tough decisions when his carefully made plans start to take a different path. He is juggling many things - trying to get elected to Congress, helping run his mother's bed and breakfast, trying to uncover Lori's secrets, and trying to solve a mystery at the bed & breakfast.

Lori is only in Chances Inlet temporarily and wants to stay under the radar until she can move on. She has a hidden past and doesn

I was so excited to read another story set in Chances Inlet, and did not disappoint me. Loved Miles and Lori's romance. Miles has his future all planned out in politics and finding love was not one of them at this time. Loved how Lori called him Mr. Dudley Do Right. Lori does have a secret, that she has been hiding from everyone, that need to be taken care of.

This is a fun story, plenty of romance in small town. Love the quirky residents and Miles's family are a hoot. I highly reco

As usual, Tracy delivers! Her writing just keeps getting better and better. I feel like I am watching a movie as the book unfolds, characters are introduced, and plot lines converge. Each book stands alone (meaning that you can read any book first), but they are all linked through her characters. The more books you read, the more you feel part of the "family". And she works magic when weaving all the story lines in and out. Her writing is witty, topical, sensitive, loving, honorable, and of cour ...more

I laughed. I cried. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Lori, Miles aka Dudley Do Right, family and friends. The sibling interaction was quite realistic and entertaining. We may get older but sibling rivalry continues. A copy was provided by NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. It was difficult for me to put the book down and do necessary chores.

All They Ever Wanted

Love this book! Had trouble putting it down as I was so intrigued with "who done it" and how on earth are Miles and Lori ever going to survive together and what really was Lori's story. Great story that will keep you reading all night long! Good to visit with the other characters in Chances Inlet. A MUST read, I would give it more than 5 stars if I could!!

Tracy Solheim writes books with shirtless men on the cover. Some of them are actually best-sellers. The books, not the men. When she's not writing, she's practicing her curling. . . bottles of wine, that is. She's been known to cook dinner but no more than two nights in a row. Most days, she'd rather be reading, which to her is just necessary research. She lives in the suburbs of Atlanta with her ...more
