2.5 - "You're better than this." Stars.

Lone Wolfe Protector, book one in the Wolfe Creek Series was one of the most eerie, and unusual reads of 2014 for me, so I was more than a little excited to see that Kaylie Newell, had written its follow-up Hunter of Her Heart and that it was Zane and Candi’s story.

She was an anomaly, hard and broken at the same time.”

It was a surprise to find myself struggling with this one, for more than one reason, but in the main it is because I was approaching the end

HUNTER OF HER HEART seemed like it would be a nice and quick sort of paranormal romance but I ended up just not liking any of the characters or even the plot. The writing was well done and not overly complex or down-laden with flowery descriptions truly making this book a quick read. We are told that Zane is basically a bad boy and screw up and is constantly "this" close to losing his girlfriend Candi. What I would imagine would follow would be some sort of redemption arc

I loved the first book it this series Lone Wolfe Protecter. Wolfe Creek is a bewitching small-town, harbouring secrets, mystery and intrigue so there was no decision to be made when it came as to whether I read this. But in comparison to Koda and Maggie's story, Zane and Candi's unfortunately fell very flat.

"I hurt you. I'm so sorry."
"You hurt me all the time."

There were elements I did like; Zane and Candi have a history, they have a decent chemistry and Candi isn't afraid to call Zane out o

Settling down has never been in bad boy Zane Wolfe’s plans and now he’s changing in some mysterious way but he better figure it out soon because Candi’s reached her limit in this mesmerizing paranormal romance.

There is some mysterious happenings in Wolfe Creek and Zane is caught right in the middle and the reader can’t help but get caught up in the emotional turmoil that is pulling Zane in every direction while he fights to save his relationship with Candi. There is no denying the attraction bet

Zane Wolfe is worried about how he seems to be changing, feeling and acting. He has had some flu like symptoms, woken up naked in the forest unaware of how he got there, had problems controlling his temper . . . he’s starting to worry that the local folklore might be right - could he be cursed to be a werewolf?

His girlfriend, Candi Brooks, has always been attracted to him and the chemistry between them is volatile, they’ve been together since High School and she’s never had eyes for

I really enjoyed Lone Wolfe Protector, and had high hopes for this book. Sadly, my hopes were dashed.

First of all, where was the love? Candi and Zane professed their love for each other, but all I saw was sex. Also, Candi said that people were often taken in by Zane's charm, but he wasn't charming in either book. Drunk, moody, sullen, and unreliable, yes. Charming? No. And Candi just kept wishing for more from him. Over and over again. (view spoiler)

After reading Lone Wolfe Protector I couldn't wait to read another book by this author. I loved the writing from page one to the end, the characters grab you and don't let go. Zane is the ultimate bad boy; tough as nails, doesn't want to settle down kind of guy but he loves Candi as much as he allows himself to. As his life changes in more ways then one he can't help but want to make a life for himself and Candi but he also can't help but think what the future brings. Candi is sweet as hell and ...more

Having read the first one was ready to step into this one and read about the brother Zane. He has someone that cares deeply for him but he keeps his distance because of what he believes. Candi does not want to wait forever even though her heart is his. When strange things begin to happen they both will have to dig deep down for love to win. This author gives you a closer look into the legend that just might be more than talk. Follow them as they both battle with themselves and each other but the ...more

Hunter of Her Heart is the 2nd book in the Wolfe Creek series. I was extremely excited to read it due to the synopsis. I saw the cover art for it, and snatched it up as an ARC to read. I had such high hopes for this book... Sadly, I can't tell you that I loved it, liked it or even was "OK" with it. Now, please do take into account that these are my opinions. That doesn't mean that someone else won't pick this book up and love it. It just doesn't work for me.

I'm always so nervous about starting a new shifter/werewolf book or series. I love paranormal books but it always seems that the one creature from that genre that produces the most cringe-worthy books are the shifters. Every once in a while you come across a really good one. But let's be honest, most of the ti

What a great follow up to Lone Wolfe Protecter. In this book, we find out more about the Wolfe brothers and this is Zane’s story.
Zane is going thru something in his life and this is derailing his relationship with Candi. Zane is having strange changes of his body –flu like symptoms and mood changes, He also feels caged in his relationship with Candi in a way. Yet he cant deny the chemistry when they are around each other.

It has been a little while since I have read a paranormal novel that I have enjoyed as much as I have this book. To put it boldly if you love a good paranormal romance that you can really sink your teeth or eyes into than Newell's Wolfe Creek series holds a lot of promise.

Since there was so much to favor about this book it was difficult for me as the reader to narrow down the features that stood out to me the most. However I am happy to confess that I was able to do so. I'll start with the plot.

I received an ARC of this novel in return for an honest review. Here it is:

What a good introduction to a shifter series! Hunter of Heart is the second novel in a series, but Kaylie Newell is a new author to me, and although I didn't read the first installment, I didn't find that to be a problem. I did find this novel to be well-written, well-plotted, and quite a bit different from many of the other shifter novels I've read for a number of reasons.

First, Zane, the hero, is the town bad boy, and

Hunter of Her Heart is the second story in author Kaylie Newell's Wolfe Creek series and takes place some time after the events in the first book, Lone Wolfe Protector. Zane Wolfe and Candi Brooks were memorable supporting characters who have finally snagged the spotlight here, and deservedly so, since their being an on-again, off-again couple was hinted at before. Readers get a clearer idea of what exactly has been causing Zane to become a di

HUNTER OF HER HEART by Kaylie Newell was a wonderful read, it was a fast read that I could not put down.

The story in this book is very well written and very well developed and the plot is very fast paced and flows nicely. Although this is a part of a series of books it can be read as a stand alone. The characters in this book are very well written and I found myself rooting for Zane and Candi. I think what I loved most about this book is that the main focus of the book was not the hot sex that

A rough starter but with a good ending.

Every once in a while a read comes along that starts off not so hot where I almost give up on it. HUNTER OF HER HEART got off to a tough start. Zane wasn't very likable and Candi wasn't helping that by being a bit of a flake. I was bummed because I had enjoyed them in LONE WOLFE PROTECTOR and I always love seeing secondary characters get together later in a series. The first third of the book had me ready to call it but I decided to stick it out just a litt

A different kind of werewolf story. There are no alpha males, nor betas, no pack what so ever.
Zane Wolfe is a lone wolf. No ties to anyone or anything. He does have a woman he loves, Candi. But he won’t commit to her, won’t even spend the night at her house. He loves going to bars getting drunk and having fist fights. Candi has had it with him and tries to break it off.
Zane and Candi have a strange relationship, in my eyes, he goes his way and visits her when he wants some, and she just can’t r

This book picks up after the first, in the same small town but this time with more focus on Candi and Zane's relationship. We learned a little bit about these two in the first book, but I don't think I was prepared for everything we get in this one.

Zane is a jerk. Really, he is. He constantly disappoints the kindhearted woman who has been putting up with him for years. He also has a habit of letting down the rest of his loved ones,

Hunter of Her Heart I’m afraid this will be a very short review, as I was very disappointed with Hunter of Her Heart.
Although Kaylie has a very easy writing style, making her writing very easy to follow, it would have been really nice to have had something worthwhile to actually follow.
I found Zane and Candi’s storyline lacking in many ways, not least because I wasn’t able to really connect with them. The only thing noteable was their general animosity toward each other, which, if I’m honest, go

Hunter of Her Heart was a passionate, edgy paranormal delight! Bad boys and a sensual woman who changes them for the good, what can be more appealing than that? This had such a great storyline. It was mouthwatering, dramatic, and flared beautifully. The passion between Zane and Candi was impossible to miss. It sparked and sizzled and left the read

Candi Brooks has always had a soft spot for bad boy, Zane Wolfe. They've been together for years. Now that she's pregnant, she wants him to commit to their baby, but he's drawing away. Why is he so troubled? Candi and Zane are interesting characters. At first I had trouble relating to Zane. He seem self-centered and arrogant. I wondered what Candi saw in him. As I continued reading I began to understand him and I watched him change. Candi was a strong woman who wanted Zane, but she's tired of hi ...more

I hadn't read the previous book in the series and so I didn't have any heightened expectations in relation to book two. The story was developed enough and the characters' situations explained in a way that I didn't feel as though I was missing anything pertinent to Candi and Zane. I enjoyed the story, especially the suspense element towards the end.
However, I wasn't completely enamoured with Zane as he comes across as immature and selfish. His and Candi's relationship woes seem to go around in

This is a book set in Wolfe Creek where mysterious things are going on.

Zane Wolfe is the ultimate bad boy who is sexy, wild and reckless. His body is changing in strange ways and he is beginning to feel like there might be some truth to the local folklore. When his brother Koda asks for his help in finding a lost child because he knows the woods better than anyone, he didn't want to because he didn't trust himself yet. But he does it because he wants his brother to be proud.

This is definitely not the book for me. I had a hard time getting into the book. I had put it down several times and picked it back up on different occasions to see if I would be able to read it and it was a no go. Even when I was half way through I was forcing myself to read it. It was near the end of the book when I found that things started to happen. By this time in the book I had lost focus and was

I really liked the first book, and enjoy this author's writing style, but I had trouble with this one. I honestly thought I would like this book better than the previous book because Candi & Zane had a history. Instead of that being the case I was sitting here wondering at times why they were still together. They went in circles so many times that I got frustrated with Zane and had to put the book down for a while. A while ended up being a couple of days, which isn't a good sign for me. I think ...more

Candi loves her bad boy Zane, but he isn't ready to settle down. They have been together for a few years and he says that he loves her, but Candi isn't sure that he will ever be ready to commit to her. Zane does care about her, but is going through something that he really doesn't understand. Up until now the legend of Wolfe Creek was just a story told around camp fires, but it is real for Zane and he is sure that he will have to let Candi go. Then something happens that changes everything.

Hunter of Her Heart is the 2nd book in Kaylie Newell’s Wolfe Creek series. This was my first time reading a Kaylie Newell’s book, and I can say I was not disappointed. The first thing that grabbed my attention was the synopsis and what held it was the quality of writing. As the reader I was able to see, feel and understand both Zane Wolfe and Candi Brooks, the two main characters in this story.
