THEY SEE WHAT NO ONE ELSE SEES

Every crime scene has a smell. A look. A trail of DNA. It also has a feel. An emotional residue that lingers... floating unseen, like bacteria in the air, just waiting to be absorbed. To be experienced. To be interpreted.

And only the man, the woman, and the boy know this.

The Texas Killing Fields have long been a mystery to investigators of all stripes--both professional and amateur. Since the 1970's, countless bodies have been discovered in the desolate landscape, and Kate, Weston, and Christopher are about to find out why.

After three fruitless days following a lead to the Beast in Texarkana, Texas, Kate decides to use a much needed break to pursue a gun and P.I. license in Austin.

But when Christopher begins having disturbing but unexplained seizures, accompanied by cries of Monsters!, the three make their way to Houston, and to a carnival of terror that may well cost Kate her life...

Another great story in the Linger series- book four, Here There Be Monsters, is yet another terrifying experience especially for Kate Messenger. The three companions: Kate, Weston, and Chris, are still traveling and chasing the beast together, however, Kate decides to take on more of the burden. Worried as she witnesses Christopher’s continued breakdowns and bad dreams, she pulls in resources that will assist to make use of her crime fighting training. Kate asks for help from her network of friends in the field, and the reader is introduced to colorful personalities: a confidant of hers, a cop from Chicago named Mooch, and his Texan sister MK (officially named Colonel Baxter), and more—homicide detectives and yes, Rangers, too. The setting is Texas after all!

Feeling empowered, Kate decides to go the extra mile. Although filled with confidence, she has no idea the depth of the horrors she would get herself into . . . I will not say more because I don’t want to be a spoiler. Let’s just say the story creeps forward building up, and then something unexpected happens that will force you to turn the lights on.

The monsters that Kate faces are darker than any she has ever confronted before. The climax scene is not for the light hearted—and reads like a true hard horror that would make King proud. The story pulls together the threads and the three companions come to realize just how serious, no heinous, their quest has become . . . The dangers they face concern various law enforcement entities, as well. The beast is on everyone’s radar and yet to be confronted. The hero trio knows the beast has to be stopped. I’m going off to read book five now—can’t put it off any longer. This is a very exciting series.

Yazar "Here There Be Monsters" ile sequel paradoksuna düşmüş.

Herkese keyifli okumalar!

From LINGER 1 to LINGER 4: HERE THERE BE MONSTERS, you will be hooked as you travel from city to city with Christopher, Kate and Noah on their quest to stop the mastermind behind unspeakable crimes--the man they call the Beast.

Each book unravels new twists and challenges that the characters must confront, solve and most of all, keep themselves out of the clutches of the Beast’s torturous plans for them.

In LINGER 4: Here There Be Monsters, I was again hooked into the plot immediately and became captivated by the storyline and the secondary characters, each added yet another layer of mystery and suspense. In this novel, we are introduced to a few secondary colorful characters, creating a perfect balance to lighten up the intense scenes.

The author pulls you in flawlessly, and you feel you are right there with the characters, as they battle their own internal demons as they fight to stay one step ahead of the Beast.

I got chills reading about the real-life atrocities in the Texas Killing Fields. The strength of the author’s writing allowed him to take a real-life, tragic landmark and utilize it into the story in a gripping, realistic manner, adding to the grit and suspense of the series theme.

The circumstances in which the three protagonists find themselves in, include supernatural elements; however, those elements are interlaced into the storylines in a believable manner, filled with emotion and vulnerabilities, making each character and their own personal journey and their team effort relatable.

You will find yourself caring about each character, and looking forward to the next book, as the layers are peeled back, and you will not only root for them, but you will look forward to getting to know even more about Noah, Christopher and Kate.

The author does an excellent job at weaving in a back-story for each character, and allowing the reader access to what is tearing at their souls as they use their gifts and strengths to face a new day, in a new city on their tiring, and at times, gut-wrenching and always dangerous journey to bring down the Beast.

Their decisions and actions make it seem real, and the writing brings the reader into the story so much so, you feel as if you are right there with each of one them.

In LINGER 4: Here There Be Monsters, Christopher, Kate and Noah find themselves in Texas, risking their lives as they are led into a maze filled with terrifying consequences, especially for Kate.

I got chills imagining myself in Kate’s situation, which for me is the sign of an imaginative, strong writer.

Gritty, suspenseful, edge of your seat suspense, LINGER 4: Here There Be Monsters, as like the other three books before, does not disappoint.

This story unfolds at a good pace, allowing the reader time to get accustomed to the new city, to the developing relationship each character has with each other, and building up to a nail-biting climax that will have you holding your breath.

I have started Book 5 in the series, and I’m again hooked.

After coming up empty handed in Texarkana, Texas, Kate persuades Weston and Christopher to head to Austin. Kate uses her contacts from her past in law enforcement to obtain a speedy private investigator license that allows her to carry concealed weapons.

While in Austin the team is drawn to the Texas Killing Fields where countless bodies have been discovered dumped since the 1970’s. When they get to Austin, Christopher begins having seizures and crying out about “Monsters”. This leads to Kate investigating on her own while Weston cares for Christopher which puts Kate in grave danger.

Linger 4 kept me up reading into the wee hours to find out if Kate would survive this investigation. The pace of this series does not slow down one bit in Linger 4. I couldn’t read it fast enough to find out what was going to happen. Here There Be Monsters just whets ones appetite for more in this series.

I received Linger: Here There Be Monsters free in exchange for an honest review.

Book 4 is another great installment to this series.

This one takes place mostly in Houston, Texas. The setting is well done, creating its own reality by mixing real and fictional locations. The author does a good job of portraying the feel of the city and surrounding area.

One of the things I liked about Here There Be Monsters was the use of a real, unsolved true crime case as part of the hunt for The Beast. I also liked the use of thematic horror elements in the book’s climax. The setting of the climax really creeped me out.

I know I’ve said this in all my reviews, but the best compliment I can give the Linger series is I’d have happily paid to read it.

In the most terrifying of all the LINGER books to date, Linger 4: Here There Be Monsters takes Kate, Noah and Christopher to Texas, where they continue their hunt for the Beast. While in Texas, Kate gets her P.I. license and investigates a local carnival that is far more sinister than it seems. Christopher begins having unexplained seizures and when Kate looks into their cause, the real terror begins.

This is my favorite LINGER book so far, although all of them are outstanding. It contains more elements of horror than the rest, and in this installment, Kate is put to her biggest test yet and the ending is shocking. This book was reminiscent of Dean Koontz and Stephen King and it doesn't get much better than that.

I only wish I could give this series more than 5 stars....

This one gave me chills!
I’d never heard of the Texas Killing Fields along I-45 outside Houston, Texas. After reading this book, I will never look at a Haunted House the same way again. The fourth book in the Linger series is action packed with heart stopping scenes that had me cringing and turning the pages as fast as I could, eager to find out how Kate survives her ordeal. With each book I read, the Beast becomes more terrifying. Great twists and scary details. Loved it!

Another thrilling good ride with a new surprise. This one sort of started slow but quickly picked up steam. It also was a bit different from the first 3 books where all three main character played a big role in the story. This time the focus was mainly on Kate and the skills she acquired after many years of being a cop that helped her stay alive. We also learn in this book that Christopher has a bit more talent that he's not too keenly aware of.

Once again they are on the chase for the Beast and in the mist of it all they help to solve another case that plagued so many for so many years. Solving this unexpected case may have given them the lead that they needed to finally catch up with the Beast. Looking forward to seeing how close they get to their prey in book 5.

Bonus in this book was some levity. Some intentional and others I'm sure where quite intentional but still had me smile or chuckle. I really enjoyed the humor that was injected in this story. It helped to lighten up this very dark tale.

If you are a fan of the first 3 books then you will really enjoy book 4.

The story lines of this series always keeps me guessing until the last minute with twists and turns thrown in. The relationships between the characters have a real bond against the alternate world of horror .

I'm not sure why this book is getting so many 5 star reviews. I think people are giving it too much credit because of the other books in the series.

The other books are definitely engaging and interesting. This one? Is not. This one feels like a freshman in high school wanted to stretch out a 2 page paper into 12 pages and thinks the teacher isn't going to notice.

The logistics of every single mundane task are outlined. Kate goes to get a gun permit? We have to go through every step of her going to the office, filling out papers, going to the scanner, putting things in the scanner, watching it print out, putting it in plastic, etc. It's like this for everything. Setting up a computer. She can't just go on the Internet, he has to explain how she opens the laptop, finds a wifi connection, connects to the wifi, opens the browser... etc. Nothing happens for the first 2/3 of the book.

And I swear he used the word "purchases" about 112 times. "She looked through her purchases" or "He took his newest purchases out of the bag". Over and over. I don't know why it was so irritating but it was mega irritating.

I really, really enjoy the other books in the series... well, novellas, really. They are exceedingly short. But in any case, the other ones are interesting and engaging. This one just dragged and did nothing to further the overall plot with the Beast or understanding their gift.

As usual good with a side of creepiness!

These books really do get better. Thankfully Chris wasn't tormented with no protections. Kate showed herself to be the tough woman we knew was there. Solid read I couldn't put down.

Great series

This isn't my type of genre normally but since the first was free I decided to try it out. I'm hooked. There are "F" words used throughout the books but thankfully not every other word.

Good adventure and mystery mixed with the supernatural.

Continued journey with suspense , supernatural and human resilience and interaction. A lot of tender moments with an extraordinary little boy. Recommended for any age who believe there is so much more than the four senses.
