While I was excited to be back into this world, I didn't find anything particularly interesting about this volume. I chuckled here and there, but there wasn't anything really funny. I do think this may be a set up for a lot of action in the fifth volume, so I'm excited for that.
This volume was extremely boring up until the very end. Ugh... hope the storyline picks up soon. It was so promising in the beginning but it's gotten really boring lately
Re-read: April 2018 Sarue is such a creep. Every time he was on page I felt distinctly uncomfortable. Fortunately, he was supposed to be creepy, and the author wasn't condoning his behavior at all. This volume had a lot on Rinka in it, and I really like her! So far she's just been characterized as Emi's friend, but there seems to be hints that she's a future love interest to Alciel, so I'm looking forward to that. And Alciel's explanation of how he and Maou know Emi was hilarious, and possibly my favorite thing in the volume. I was really surprised by how philosophical this volume got! There was quite a bit of discussion between Emi and Suzuno about what being a hero meant, and at what cost one should chase peace. This volume ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, so I'm definitely going to need to read the next volume soon, even though I'm trying to read more traditional books.
Also, I really liked Chiho's short story at then end. It was cute, and it made me love Chi even more than I already do.
Original Review The series is really starting to pick up! I can't wait for the next volume.
This was a great volume! The screwball comedy elements are top-notch here, from Emi and Suzuno butting heads to the mix-up with Rika to the weirdness at SFC, I was laughing a lot here. That made the sudden dramatic shift near the end come as a big surprise and get me really pumped for the next part of the story. I wish I had the next volume on hand right now, so I just have to hope I can pick it up soon!
I hadn't read a volume of this series in about a year, so getting up to speed was a little tricky. These don't recap the events or characters like a lot of manga do. I really liked Ashiya's description to Rika of their relationship with Emi, and it continues to fascinate me (which is why I've kept collecting the series) to observe Maou's transformation from evil into good.
Not the best volume. I thought the time spent crafting a lie about Maou and co. was kind of a waste of time. Also I kind of agree with Suzuno, that what Maou did is irredeemable, but I know I will just have to ignore that in order to enjoy this manga. The bonus manga with Urushihara and Ashiya was the only funny part because those two are the best.
Another fun issue that finds Suzono Kamazuki coming to Earth, throwing everything is disarray. Wagahara delivers a fun read as Emi is conflicted over what to do about Maou/The Devil King, who is busy competing with a rival chicken restaurant. His art is nicely action packed an cartoony as well, making for one of the more original mangas in recent years.
So this series is entertaining in one volume then becomes boring the next. It subsequently wants you to dnf the series but then it picks up and gives you action just so it gets interesting again. Seriously what is going on. I was bored in the middle of it then it got a bit ok and in the end, it gives an opening to action scenes and an interesting plot.
Wonderful volume, much better than volume 3 which felt rather slow. The humour was simply divine, the art brilliant as usual and the character interactions marvellous. 5 Stars
There seems to be more adventure than harem to this manga. It has a nice mix of story and humor. And it may even have a moral: never give up on a person, even if that person is a devil!
This was another comical and exciting volume in the series. Due to the cliff-hanger ending, I can't wait to read volume 5. I highly recommend this manga.
This volume was rather good. They picked up some of the plot and threw in some twists that I really liked. Definitely more enjoyable than the last volume. I felt the last one was lacking in actual plot and this one picked it back up thankfully.
Suzuno is from Ente Isla...if you hadn't caught on to that yet. Don't freak out, it's not a spoiler cause they flat out say it on page 4. The laughs of this volume come from the MgRonalds vs Sentucky Fried Chicken rivalry. (The SFC manager looks like James from Pokémon but with Brock's personality) Also, one of Emi's coworkers gets a little nosy and everyone has to sidestep the truth.
Oh man what a volume! The series continues to speed ahead, developing characters and relationships in glorious ways, as well as adding to the overall setting. I really wish we got to see a little more of Ente Isla(?) but I know that's not the main focus of this series. The art is extremely well done, and the story is hilariously awesome. Definitely another great addition to the series!
This volume actually gave me what I wanted, which was lots of fast food action! Watch as Sado tries to lure in costumers being stolen by that fried chicken place in the mall! Guess I will keep reading. :)
