Jerome “Hoosier” Elliott is the President of the Night Horde SoCal. He has worn a patch for many years, and he’s led his club, and his family, through times of strength and times of struggle.

For most of those years, his old lady, Bedelia Beth—“Bibi” to those who know and love her—has stood by his side. Club life has had its challenges, some almost insurmountable, but they have made each other strong and waited for each other always.

Together, they made the club a family.

After club violence tears them apart, Hoosier needs Bibi to find him and bring him back. The way to their future is their past: the story of the life they’ve made together, and the dreams they’ve dared to make come true.

Note: explicit sex and violence.

I was born and raised in the Midwest, but I was transplanted into the dusty soil of Northern California and have apparently taken root there. An inveterate geek and gamer, I am a fan of many things considered pop culture and maybe even lowbrow.

As a reader, my favorite genres are science fiction and fantasy, but as a writer, I've found my home in romance--or perhaps it's better to say simply "love stories." I have a yen to try other genres, too, at some point, but for now my muse wants to tell stories about lovers and families.

I write for the joy of it, and I write stories that I want to read. If others like them, too, that's just the cherry on top. I’m not interested in rules and formulae. I follow my muse and my characters and let them take me where they want to go, wherever that might be. I like big emotions, dark and light.

I like complicated characters with flaws and weaknesses as well as strengths, and I like each character’s strengths and weaknesses to be different from those of other characters. I’m much more concerned that my characters be interesting and diverse than that they be widely considered to be likable. I try to create people, not types.

Likewise, I want my stories each to be distinct from the others. Once I’ve told a story, I don’t want to tell it again. So even within a series, one of my books might be very different from the next. Some might be very dark, others equally mild.

That isn’t to say there aren’t trends and recurrences in my work. I’m drawn to certain themes and settings, and my muse has her favorite toys and tools. But I guard against those tendencies becoming a formula.

June 2020 - I love Hoosier and Bibi. I love the way Susan Fanetti structured their story. I have so much respect for them and for the way they each love their family. Another great book.

Re-read as part of the series Aug/Sept 2017 - These two are two of my favorites. Strength abounds in their marriage. From the memories to the present, the story of these characters coupled with the great storytelling of Fanetti are unmatched.

5+++ "There was that smile." Stars

It's so damn hard to pick a favorite book written by the incomparable Susan Fanetti. How this author continues to astound me with the depth of her brilliant writing, I'll never know. But I'll always be grateful to have Susan Fanetti stories to read as getting lost in her MC worlds hails as one of my most favorite activities. I have half of Dream & Dare highlighted with amazing passages and quotes about a lifetime of love and loss within the Night Horde SoCal world.

Hoosier & Bibi Elliott exemplify the ultimate fairytale; a four decade beautiful fairtytale. We see the beginning, the middle, and the present. A real live love story with soaring triumphs and devastating trials nurturing and testing their love. This is a story about the lasting effects of love that runs soul deep while woven throughout the nuances of a true family, a band of brothers, highlighting two people destined for their own brand of greatness. It's rising from the dark to be light. It's learning ways to be true to oneself together in a partnership, growing together so naturally because your stars align so perfectly with someone else. It's a memorial, a remembrance, a tribute to the people Hoosier and Bibi Elliott once were and how those people grew together to be the power couple they are today. This is what I want from my marriage. I can only hope to one day be this connected to my partner. Chills emerge all over me just thinking about the beauty of this book.

Being together for this long, outlasting the awful their marriage was once wrought with, is a gift. So few couples ever feel the preciousness of a love story that’s lasted for 42 years, so few get to experience the growing pains year after precious year and still cherish the beauty of those pains.

Dream & Dare allows us as readers to live this life time with Hoosier and Bibi. Through vivid, timely depictions of major points in their relationship, Fanetti regales us, constantly reminding us how a partnership makes us stronger even in the weakest of moments. Her descriptions flow through my reading mind as if I’m watching a movie. I can imagine myself as Bibi in a red striped, punked out, pin up halter dress meeting the boy of my dreams and falling in love from just his smile the moment we meet.

I hurt with these characters, laughed with them, loved with them. Fanetti makes you FEEL the rawest emotions. She draws them out of you so precisely that with every event of the Elliott’s lives you feel your heart pump just a little faster. I connected with these two characters hard and fast as if I was a part of their life. An honorable man who’s honor will make you melt. His love reaches the very depths of his wife and his child. He’s proud of what he has to the point of glowing with that pride. A fierce protector who will stop at nothing to preserve what he deeply believes. Hoosier Elliott – a true family man rooted in the chaos of a MC world, a man made strong by the love and implicit trust of a strong woman. Bibi Elliott is a force to be reckoned with, I wish I could meet Bedilia Beth Elliott for a cup of coffee, a strong dose of Bibi advice then follow it up with a hug. A hug I have a strong feeling I’m going to need as the Night Horde SoCal series continues. This woman is one to emulate. Her love stretches far and wide changing all those people touched by her kindness and loving honesty.

It’s an experience to read this author to have her give the realest stories that are hard as hell because life is just as hard as it is beautiful. Nothing good comes from easy, it’s a philosophy I learned in a hard way and one that Susan Fanetti reinforces with each and every story she tells. It’s beautiful. Dream & Dare is just another example highlighting the brilliant mind of this author. Dare I say it’s my favorite of the SoCal series yet? It’s certainly a front runner for the best book of the year. It’s heartfelt, deep, troubled, and touching. Keep dreaming Fanetti, because you dare us all to be as great as your characters. Dreaming and Daring with you through these books, well that’s a gift I’ll always cherish.

Favorite Quotes:
"It was like they were separated by a thick glass wall - transparent but impenetrable."

"Anyway, there was somethin' about you from right off. That damn smile of yours."

"I want to have you."

"He made me figure out what I wanted for me."

"Love you better."

I know I’ve been saying this with every book in this series BUT it’s true… this one is my new favorite for the series. The stories are so good that each time I think a story CAN’T top the previous one I am proven wrong.

Dream & Dare is Bibi & Hoosier’s love story that spans 40 plus years. Remember the couples interviews in the movie When Harry Met Sally? Watching all those couples, sitting on the couch, talking about how they met was sort of how I felt while reading this book. I loved learning about Bibi & Hooj’s history together. I remember when we first met Bibi in the first book, Strength & Courage, and thinking I sure hope we get to learn about them as a couple. What does it take to keep a couple together for 40 years?! TRUST

description

”That damn smile of yours. Like a naughty gentleman. Did funny things to my heart.”
Bibi is in her twenties and Hooj is his thirties when they meet. I was dying when they met because Hooj was a straightforward gentleman with Bibi while she was trying to be a badass. Luckily, Hooj wasn’t easily persuaded by Bibi’s leave me alone attitude. She caught his eye right away, “You’re a smartass. But a sweet one. And you’re beautiful. Made me curious.”

”You are a prince among men, Hoosier Elliot.”
Seriously! I wasn’t sure what to expect from Hooj when I started reading this one. I only knew him as an older man (late sixties, early seventies) who happened to be the Prez of the Night Horde SoCal but what I didn’t know was what made him who is now. Reading this book had me smiling at what a great guy Hooj was to Bibi. He wasn’t about forcing “his way” with Bibi but instead being patient and kind to her.

”Time doesn’t make you know a person. TRUST does.”
When Hooj spoke those words to Bibi, I smiled. It’s true. Trust is the foundation in a relationship. If you can’t trust your mate then you aren’t going to be secure in your relationship which will cause problems.

description

”Lean on me. Let me carry you until you can put your feet down.”
I’m not saying their life has been all roses and butterflies. Come on… they’re part of the outlaw lifestyle but the difference is they’re there for each other. When one is struggling the other one doesn’t give up and look elsewhere but instead becomes the support the other person needs.

This story was so EPIC!! It’s the love we all strive for with our mates. To have someone we can trust and know they’re fully committed to us no matter what life throws at us. Shortly after I finished this book I found myself waiting for an appointment at the dentist office. An elderly gentleman was sitting on a love-seat and when he saw me he offered the other half of the couch to me. We struck up a conversation about his life which was fascinating to listen to everything he had accomplished in his lifetime. When it was his turn to leave for his appointment I was sad to see him go because I wanted to just bask in his retelling of his life. Bibi & Hooj's love story was that way for me… I was totally captivated by their life. The good, the bad and the ugly are all part of life but it’s how you choose to react to those things that makes you who you are. I’m so glad to know Bibi & Hooj love stood the test of time.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!

Dream & Dare is a love story that spans more than 40 years. Hoosier and Bibi are the perfect couple - a couple that has been through hell, more than once, but they always come through it - together.

Hooj and Bibi's past and present had me hooked to my kindle - I felt so many emotions through their story, mainly, I felt the love they shared, and it was beautiful. Honestly, I can't really put into words how much I loved this story... I highly recommend it.

Absolutely devoured this in one sitting! This is Hoosier, Jerome Andrew Elliott, the president of the Night Horde SoCal MC and Bibi's, Bedelia Beth Ladue, his old lady and mother to all, tale.

This story takes place in both the present and the past as Bibi fights to bring Hooj back to those who love him. Their story starts with Hoosier in hospital still recovering from the fire. He’s awake but he can’t speak, he’s learning to walk and has to develop his motor skills and he only recognizes Bibi. The doctors fear due to his age and his injuries, if he doesn’t start communicating soon, he will be lost to them. So Bibi tells him their story to “Lead him back to the present.” And so it begins…

”You know what. Darlin’ I am goin’ to tell you a story today. It’s the best story I know.”

This is a story of the strength of love and endurance of a relationship through the good, the bad and the ugly. Hooj and Bibi have a 42 year marriage that has seen and endured it all. I can’t tell you how each Fanetti novel I read seems like my favourite at the time because of how well Ms. Fanetti evokes the voices, the hearts and the minds of her characters.

 photo dd2_zpsmrw4guog.jpg

Living through the eyes of Hoosier and Bibi was emotional and also absolutely inspiring. It truly demonstrates that even through the tears, the blood, the scars –physical and mental – setbacks and heart ache, true love can persevere.

The human heart, mind and spirit is a formidable foe and with its soul mate at its side, it will not be broken or shaken no matter what.

Another awesome read from Ms. Fanetti!

“I love you. I’m here with you no matter what."-Bibi

description

Dream and Dare is the long awaited heartbreaking and beautiful story of Bibi and Hooj. Hoosier is the beloved President of the Night Horde SoCal MC. He and his "old lady" Bibi are the heart and soul of the club. In Fire and Dark, Hooj and Bibi lost their house in a fire. Hooj was injured and is struggling to regain his memory, speech, and physical mobility. The club is loyal as they wait for the Prez to return to the head of the table. Faith and Dem have given Bibi a place to live while Hooj is recovering in the hospital. When the doctor tells Bibi she should help Hooj remember their history, the story begins.

“You know what, darlin’? I am goin’ to tell you a story today. It’s the best story I know.”
She kissed his hand again and squeezed it hard.
“Once-a-time,” she began.

As Bibi reminds Hooj of who they are, the memories flood. Hooj begins to heal. Hooj and Bibi's story is full of tenderness, violence, and in true Fanetti fashion a dash of heartbreak.

"There’s fire in your heart and steel in your gut. I want to take care of you, but you already take care of me. That’s what you do— you take care of people. You do what you need to do and find something worthwhile in it, whatever it is. You see what people need, even if they can’t even see it. And, baby, your heart is wide open."-Hooj

description

In most circumstances, I find myself not enjoying a story that shifts back and forth from the past to the present. However, in the case of Dream & Dare, Fanetti masterfully weaves the text and memories together. I was entranced by the story and felt the depth of love these two people shared. Bibi and Hooj have a remarkable relationship. The trials that they have overcome together have made them an inseparable team. Even at 70 years old, I couldn't help but fall in love with (and dare I say feel intense attraction to) this hero. The tenderness and care that he has given to Bibi throughout their journey is the type of love every woman aspires to have.

"She had been the one constant presence in his unstable, flickering understanding of the world he’d rejoined. She had brought him back— dragged him back, even. As he had once done for her."-Hooj

In addition to the love I felt for Bibi and Hooj, I was relieved to receive some closure on some weighted questions from past conflicts in the series. Through the retelling of Bibi and Hooj's past, we understand more of Blue and Margot. We relive some of the despair that Faith and Dem felt through their separation. But we also see Faith and Demon flourishing as a family. We also experience the joy that Pilar and Connor are experiencing with their upcoming nuptials. But the heart of the story remains on Hooj and Bibi. No matter what they face they will always have each other.

description

"His road had never been straight. Every twist, every turn had been a challenge, and every challenge had been more demanding than the one before it. But he had never backed down. He’d stood up and dared life to break him."-Hooj"

Overall, once again Fanetti has created a masterpiece. I have been a huge fan of her work since I first met Isaac and Lily in The Signal Bend Series. The SoCal Series is equally as captivating. If you haven't treated yourself to a Fanetti book, you are truly missing out. I truly look forward to every single release from this author. When I pick up a Fanetti MC book, I know I will experience action, motorcycles, friendship at its best, family, and some steamy romance. In reality, what more could we want from a read? The answer to that is simple-there is nothing better! Fanetti brings it all to the table every single time! Dream & Dare was a sheer delight!

"There was life yet to be lived. Family to love. Joy to be had. If it came with sorrows and struggles, so be it. Sorrow was what made joy taste sweet."-Hooj

5 Love You Better Stars * * * * *

Susan Fanetti has developed a strong reputation for writing raw, gritty, violent books outlining the lives of Motorcycle Clubs. She has never shied away from the necessary heart-wrenching need to portray this lifestyle as it truly is, not romanticized as some of the other series. However, she also never made her characters become caricatures; a common occurrence when attempting to handle the violence and sexuality.

What may have been overlooked in her writing when critiquing is the strength in her humanity; her way of digging deep into the hearts and minds of these characters.... all complex, yet full of all our own insecurities, fears and needs. Those of us who have read Fanetti all reference the relationships and how deeply they have affected us...yet there is more than that, I think...

In my opinion, the core of all the relationships Fanetti brings to us is so rooted in all of us ... to the point where we are able to see ourselves in some way in all of her characters.

I know I do...and I will explain....

When she presents a couple such as Bebe and Hoosier at first glance it would never register I could identify with them. I am not a biker babe... never rode one in my life and never had the opportunity. My husband was not involved in any of the activities Hoosier was... and it would have been hysterical to picture him anywhere near these characters... they would have laughed him off the page....

But...When Bebe needed to find herself...figure out actually who she was ... I could relate...she was an adapter...and so was I. Hoosier was the Alpha in the relationship but also wanted her to be happy and strong...so did my man. When their life together took ugly turns and she needed to hold strong and support Hoosier, no matter what...it mirrored mine. Her love of her son, her joy and wonder was mine with my sons. I could go on.

And when she needed to bring Hoosier back from physical loss... I had done that too...her fight had been specifically different, but the same...

Because we loved our men and needed them to come back to who they were.

So this book as well as others, has showcased the way Fanetti makes us feel and relate...whether we are conscious of it or not. She has confrontations, conversations and situations when stripped of the biker backdrop could have been had with anyone of us... and probably have...

Oh, the way these conversations may have been said, or the wording was vastly different...and I am sure the specific subjects were never the case...
But the feeling, the way the couples talk with pain, always love and then need is universal...and in that ... there is power.

Power to capture, to hold and to identify.

This specific part of the Night Horde series gives us the story of Bebe and Hoosier... how they met; their road to becoming the power couple and heart of the LA Horde. We are given insight to all of the experiences we may have known and those we did not with Bebe working to bring back Hoosier from his vast injuries from the fire which destroyed their home. It is started right after the last book, Fire & Dark (Night Horde #3) https://www.goodreads.com/review/show.... It is done with the present fight for Hoosier to regain his essence; his ability to speak... for he is locked away from everyone... his mind is divided and he needs to cross a barrier to make it all come together. Bebe is advised by the head surgeon to talk to him about the past... to give him a path to their lives ... to show him their life and perhaps trigger his mind to connect all the dots.

It is through this retelling of their lives we experience everything...the retelling and the today's impact.

This is a very powerful story... with the depth of relationships between all of the characters we have learned to accept and love...We see the other sides of decisions in real time, knowing the results of these horrific actions. We learn of how people came together and loved...and we see young boys and girls become men and women before Hoosier and Bebe's eyes.

I feel you need to have read the past Night Horde books to appreciate and receive the full experience of this work. If you are a Fanetti fan and have been following this series...it really is a Must Read. It was everything I didn't know I was wanting...and so much more.

~~~ Starting Now ~~~
I am making time for this...I hear it calling to me.
~~~ Before Reading ~~~
As someone who has experienced what it takes to have a marriage survive the good...
the bad...
the ugly...
and come out the other side intact and stronger...

5++ STARS of EPIC Romance!

"You know what, darlin'? I am goin' to tell you a story today. It's the best story I know." She kissed his hand again and squeezed it hard. "Once-a-time." she began.

PHENOMENAL

Once again, I find myself struggling to find words. Nothing ever seems meaningful enough when describing the effects of a Susan Fanetti novel. Saying "I love it" or "It's amazing" just doesn't cut it. The deep, visceral quality of her writing always makes me feel connected to the story and the characters. I want to live in her world.

This book touched my heart, my soul.

DREAM
Bibi. Has there ever been a more enduring female lead? Mother figure to the Night Horde SoCal - Bibi's strength is in her heart and her unwavering ability to care for those in need.

When all hope seems lost, Bibi opens her soul. She tells a story ... it's one of faith, devotion and promise. It's the story of a lifetime of love.

DARE
Hoosier. The MC president is a man of determination. Trusted by his club - Hooj fights for the things he believes in and to protect the people he loves.

When the battle pushes him down, Hooj finds the will to fight harder. He is driven by the desire to care for his wife, to keep her from harm ... to show her the love she deserves.

Of course it's a heart-wrencher. Yes, I cried ... multiple times. But it's also a beautiful journey. Susan Fanetti is a true artist - a genius with words. I know this story will stick with me ... and I am so thankful for that experience.

Now can we talk about how worked up I am for the next book? Knife & Flesh is all about TRICK! I'm already in love with his character (how could I not be - he's the nerdy bookworm) ... I know his story will be epic!

Busy Beaver Susan Fanetti strikes again with Dream & Dare. I had to have a box of tissues, cause I bawled all night with Hoosier and Bibi's story. Couldn't get past all the travesties, heartbreak and suspense, I was just one big puddle of goo. So if you're wondering if its a five star read, my answer is yes and then some! While reading this story in the wee early morning hours an old song sprang time mind as I envisioned Hoosier and Bibi's life together, called If I could Put Time In A Bottle by Jim Croce.
 photo Dream amp Dare 1.jpg
Even now after the story has been read the lyrics floats in my head. Yes the president is strong, endured more bloodshed in his life than he should have. His old lady more grit than anyone I know and loves her man with a passion. I admire the two as they set the bar high for the rest of us, even if this is a clever master piece of a novel!

Epic Love Story – Fanetti does it again

I have been drawn to Bibi and Hooj’s characters since I started reading this series. I guess I’m showing my age here but I can so relate to a couple from the 70’s who have withstood the test of time, heartaches, good times and bad times. Bibi and Hooj embody the couple who were wild in their youth but stayed together many years while their love grew and solidified to where they were their own universe. They loved their family both blood and club members but as a couple they were a unit, one dependent upon the other to make their life complete. I could really put Bibi and Hooj’s struggles into a personal context as they fought so hard to bring Hooj back to even part of his former capabilities. Hooj was such a strong, independent man who took care of everybody and most of all Bibi. Bibi has always been the caretaker of not only Hooj but all of the other people in her life. She realizes when Hooj is incapacitated by the fire that her life is bound to him and she can’t imagine going on without him. My heart hurt and so many emotions were felt as I read this epic love story. I prayed and cheered them on to some kind of victory because we all know when you reach a certain age you’ll never go back to the strength of your youth. And they finally came to an acceptable finish where the love that withstood many years and the most horrible of illnesses came through loud and clear.
There is no other author who can wring the kind of emotions that Fanetti can from me. I’ve shed more tears over some of her books than I can count but the stories are the kind I can’t put down once I’ve started.

Susan is a friend and fellow writer with The FCP.
It's rare I review. It goes without saying that I love everything Susan writes. This, however, is without question, my favourite.
I can't really say why, except that Bibi and Hoosier touched me me the most, and their story, above all the others, resonated with me.
This is so much more than a romance. It's a love story of epic proportions.

WOW!! That was crazy good! I'm so happy I didn't skip it though I had zero plans to do that to begin with. Bibi and Hoosier have the kind of love that can and will last through anything. I was in awe of just how deep their love for each other goes. This book was not easy to read and at times I felt like I was physically in pain reading trough their lives but at the end of the day, they make me believe in true love more than any other couple in the series so far.

Loved it!

Hooj and Bibi’s story was one of the most beautiful stories of love I’ve read in a while. It tells how the strength of love can get you through life’s impossible challenges and how true love can survive. The Night Horde is an MC/ Biker series but this was not your usual biker story. It was more about two people who happened to be associated with a biker lifestyle than club life itself, reminiscing about their early years. While the setting was not in a club per se, club life was still a prevalent aspect to the story.

Jerome Andrew Elliott and Bedelia Beth Ladue vowed their love and commitment, until death did them part.

Bibi finds herself at the bedside of the man she has loved for decades. Hooj is in a bad way and far from the man he once was. Willing him back to life again, Bibi shares her memories of the life they’ve lived, good times and bad to try and help his recovery. Recounting through memories her introduction into the life as a biker’s old lady and how she became so loved and respected.

Trapped in a tortured shell of the man he once was Bibi has to trust her heart, believing Hooj is there with her. Patiently using every ounce of energy she has, she balances what is good and strong within her life with the hope of trusting Hooj will recover from his injuries.

Dream and Dare is told in two parts, first being in Bibi’s POV and the second in Hooj’s. Like most of my favourite series, Ms Fanetti has included characters from previous books allowing catch up time with Faith, Deme, Margot, Connor and Pilar. The beauty was in the balance of intertwining the past with the present keeping the memories and present relevant, neither overpowering the other. Quite often when a story is told through past and present tense, there’s a yearning to stay in the present but not with Dream & Dare. The effect of using both tenses was implemented effectively and there was no sense of loss moving between the both. It was not about a couple reliving their younger years, rather a moving story of a couple using their past experiences to get them through the present.

If I’d known how much I was going to be wrapped up in Dream & Dare, I would have purchased it as soon as it was released. Fate was on my side, my timing ended up being perfect. It turned out to be the antidote I needed after the hectic running around of Christmas and a wonderful way to ease into the New Year!

This was supposed to be a short 4 hour read but it took 4 days to read. I couldn't get invested in it. I felt short changed because Hooj and Bibi's story was never told but I think Fanetti had made their characters endearing to me in the previous books. I didn't like having to read their POVs of their story from 40 years ago. Then Fanetti came in and filled in some blanks from some pivotal scenes from the first series. It makes me want to go back and read Bart's book, which was my least fav from the 1st series. I hate to say it but I would have gotten more out of their story if I could have continued to read about their relationship as secondary characters in the series.

Awesome read. Loved Hoosier and Bibi's story, showing the past and present, made it everything. It tied in all the other books and even events in The Single Bend series. LOVED that there was more of Faith and Demon and Hooj's perspective on everything that happened. Loved it all. Ms. Fanetti (as always) CAN WRITE!!!!! Really loving this series.

BiBi and Hoosier

I liked going back in time to all of the milestones these two had. It was different to see a life lived in hindsight. Sometimes you forget these two had 40 years together.

We also got more insight into the Blue& Margot relationship as well as what happened to Faith and Demon and the aftermath. I felt like seeing it through Hoosiers eyes kinda vindicated him from doing nothing before.

I absolutely loved this book. This book picks up after the devastating fire that burned Bibi and almost killed Hoosier.

Despite being younger, I feel like Susan Fanetti captured much of what it's like to have a love that endured for so long.

Bibi and Hoosier have been a constant to some extent in this whole series, but we didn't ever know their whole story. We see even more of what happened with Demon from the perspective of the club's members. This book also felt sort of personal to me because I was Bibi's age when I met my H in the early 1970's, and I had him for 41 years.

I'll absolutely read this book again even though this series as a whole has been a little bit up and down for me. This was more like a book from Signal Bend in its emotional intensity.

Absolutely loved this one! Bibi and Hooj have been the strength for everyone in the MC for so long. They have a strong sense of family and take care of their own. I was so excited to read their love story. This one has humor, sorrow and so much true love. Keep your kleenix handy. No spoilers but you will need to read at least the book prior to this one before you dive in.

I love how this author is able to take us right to the edge of such strong emotions and then carry us back to a safe place again. Not just once, but multiple times during the story. I find myself reluctant to write reviews on these books. I don't want to share any of those feels I get! I recommend starting from the beginning with book 1 and then going forward from there.

If I could I would give this book 10 stars!! I didn't think I could love any couple as much as I do Issac & Lilli, from Susan's Signal Bend series, but, here you have it, this book and this couple I love just as much.

I knew the story of Hoosier & Bibi would be epic, the Night Horde SoCal MC President and his old lady. You definitely get the most out of this book if you read the previous in the series first, because there are bits and pieces of information from those books that are given to us again in this book, but from a better, more in-depth perspective.

This story tells us about the life of Hoosier and Bibi, so the chapters jump from present day to 40 odd years previous to how they met and then progress from there through their early years, reliving significant events and milestones throughout their 40 years of marriage and it is one hell of a story! Plenty of drama, horrific & tragic events and memories so sweet and funny! You get it all. The life of an outlaw MC club member is tough to say the least.

This is by far the best story of the series yet, Susan's style of storytelling paints a real and raw picture of events and puts you right in the middle of it, feeling everyone's pain and elation right along with them. I am absolutely hooked and heading straight for the next book!

This book had me crying so much. I love Hooj, he is such a sweetheart to Bibi. They are so perfect for each other.

“She could see him in the beautiful, deep-brown eyes that stared back into hers. She could see her man, and she could see his furious desperation to be freed of whatever held him back.”

“You don’t have to figure it out. I love you. You’re mine. I’ll take care of you.”

“Then Hoosier said—in his familiar, calm, low drawl, “Marry me, Bedelia Beth. Come with me to Vegas. We’ll get married and stay in a fancy suite and have room service all weekend. Or we’ll go out and take in the town, hit the tables. Whatever you want.”

“Listen up, Biker Boy. You leaned on me for years to have a baby. You left me in here to push him into the world on my own. If you think you’re gonna puss out on me now that he’s here, you got another think comin’.”

“She found them in the master bedroom, conked out together in bed. They were both of them shirtless, eight-week-old Connor in a diaper and Hoosier in the pair of decaying sweatpants he refused to throw away, the nearly-full bottle lying between them. They lay together in almost identical positions: on their backs, their left arms thrown up over their heads.”

“But you’re it for me, Hooj. Without you with me, my world is nothin’.”

“I love you better."

I started this series a while ago and veered off course for a bit. So I thought it was time, with the release of the first Brazen Bulls story, to get this series squared away.

This is Hoosier and Bibi's story. It commences after the fire (in the previous book) and details Hooj's slow recovery from his life threatening injuries.

As Bibi sits at his bedside every day, she reminisces about their life together, from the day they met to the fateful fire.

I sometime find tales that switch from past to present distracting but it really worked with this book. Bibi recollections fill in many details in past stories...Demon and Faith, Bart and Riley. It also reveals in heartbreaking detail, the attack and kidnapping of Bibi many years before. This has only been hinted at in previous books, but here we get to truly understand Bibi's strength, as the Queen of the SoCal Horde.

While Hooj's and Bibi get their HFN the reader is left with the distinct feeling that there is more heartbreak to come. Loved it.

4.5 stars. So glad to be back ensconced in Fanetti's world.
