Salt Lake County, Present Day
Sam Carroll is living life in the fast lane--sleek cars, nice clothes, and lovely ladies have replaced the gospel values he grew up with, and he's going nowhere fast. But when a serious car accident brings his fun to a screeching halt, Sam is left comatose, aware only of his older brother reading aloud from the hundred-year-old journal of an LD

Another Time for Love takes a different angle on time travel. Sam is in a coma after a car accident. His brother is a historian and reads him a journal from 1915. At first Sam listens for his brother's voice as he lives life among the people, but as he is caught up with the residents of Alpine, UT his brother's voice fades and he is fully involved with the time and people.

It was interesting for me to see the development of Sam throughout the book. When he is in the car accident, he only looks o

As I reflect on life, I've come to realize that you never know what will happen to change the path you're on. Sam is living the life of a playboy, much to his parents' dismay. Fun times, casual dating, and fast cars are more important to him than anything else--until an accident puts him into a coma.

Sam's brother reads to him from a journal while he's in the coma and Sam suddenly finds himself transported to 1915--100 years earlier. I loved the events that took place to lead him to important rea

This book is and LDS historical time travel novel. I love how so many genres get mashed together these days. It's like anything goes.

Sam gets in a car accident and is comatose. His brother reads to him from a journal from long ago. Sam finds himself living in the world from the journal as his own world begins to fade. We experience the world of 1915 through Sam's eyes.

I really enjoyed the characters in this book and I could easily picture the story playing out in my mind like a movie. The book

(3.5 stars) Sam Carroll is 25 years old, lives in Salt Lake City, Utah, and enjoys life in the fast lane. When he gets in a car accident and is in a coma, his brother reads to him from an old journal. Pretty soon Sam finds himself back in time learning life lessons that might change the course of his life.

I love this cover and the summary and was excited to read it! I was surprised to find myself putting it down and not anxious to pick it back up. It starts out with Sam's accident and we're told

Another Time for Love is the first book I have read from Lynne Larson, and I really enjoyed it. I really enjoy books that take place in areas I know and have seen. I loved her descriptions of the locations and especially her characters. The author does a fantastic job of bringing the story together and helping Sam's character grow up and care for others. I was able to appreciate more the life style back in 1915, and the author truly does a great job with the mannerisms, and talk of that day, wit ...more

Time travel romances sometimes have a feeling of inevitability to them just because of the challenges associated with them. So it takes an special sort of touch to make them believable and enjoyable with that feeling of impossibility associated with them. Larson has done a nice job here answering the questions associated with Sam's 'visit' to the past. Having Sam visit the past while in a coma and his brother reads to him from an old journal provides context to the things that Sam experiences an ...more

The hero Sam is a shallow self absorbed returned missionary. He gets into a car accident and slips into a coma. His brother David is family history researcher. The doctors tell the family that talking to Sam will be good for him, so David reads a book of a family's history to him and Sam finds himself in the story.

This book was good. I expected a romance but it was more of a coming of age book for the hero. The ending wasn't what I expected. It was a little disappointing. There could have been

I really enjoyed this trip to the pioneer past in Alpine, UT. Sam is in a terrible car accident and left in a coma. His brother reads to his from a pioneer journal hoping to get a response from him that might help wake him up. Sam has lived a pretty careless and selfish life since returning from his mission. The journal stirs in Sam something he never expected. An unusual trip to the past and a personal awakening in this book. A great read!

I really wanted to like this book. Ot was just to slow for me though. I did like that is was set back in Utah history, but just seemed to be a little slower then I was expecting. I did like the different elements and how it cam around at the end, but not one of my favorites. It took me a lot linger to read it then I thought.

Ok read. Not interesting enough to keep the book, or ever read again. It was way to cliche and VERY preachy. The plot was compelling, but the writing just wasn't. ...more

Such a good clean book! It was not too sappy a romance, either!

How to you mix two different time-lines with people from each time, and still get a happily ever after? It's pretty tricky, and the whole book (it's not a long one, and makes for a fast read) I kept wondering how this was going to get resolved.

I'm going to agree with Rorie on this one. The whole book felt a little rushed and maybe a little choppy, and the ending, while it wasn't an ending per-say (because they still have their lives to live) wasn't as satisfying as I wanted it to be.

I enjoyed th

What an INCREDIBLE story line concept!
Fascinating! Intriguing! SO. LOVED IT!

Sam is in a coma from the car accident, but he can hear everything and understand most things. One day his brother comes in to read to him from a journal he is studying for his job.

But as the story in the journal progresses Sam finds himself not just listening to it, but living it...gone back in time without cell phones or electronic gadgets nor medical advances.

A murder has been committed and Sam is asked to help solve

I was skeptical when I started reading this story, which is probably why I thought it was just ok. My mom read it and really liked it. I thought the idea was pretty good, but there was too much angst for me to really enjoy the book. It was super short--only 167 pages long, but I don't think longer would have been better.
Sam is living the high life & doesn't want to settle down. When he gets in a nasty car accident he "wakes up" in 1915. He is there for a long time. Like years. He finally starts

I loved Another Time for Love. It was an epic story set in a very interesting time period. We get to go back in time with Sam as he leaves his fast-paced life in Salt Lake behind and winds up in a small town in Utah County in the early 20th century. Larson does a good job describing that time period. As a reader, you will feel like you know the place and the people well. Along the way, he recovers his faith and meets the woman of his dreams. The book was very faith promoting but also suspenseful ...more

Sam Carroll is a 25-year old without a care in the world. He loves fast cars and dating lots of beautiful woman. When he gets in a terrible car accident on I-15 at the Turn of the Mountain in Utah, he is left in a coma. In an attempt to reach him, his brother David reads to him daily from a journal of Moroni Chadester, Bishop of the Alpine Utah Ward in 1915. While in the 7 week coma, the early 1900's seem to be reality to Sam and his life changes permanently. A book full of wonderful advice. ...more

WOW! Really different book, but what a page turner. Loved the characters and the premise of a present day Sam Carroll going into a coma but in his mind he's transported and living in 1916. His shallowness is changed because of his experience and people he meets either through his brother's reading of bishop Moroni or rone's journal or his mind putting himself in the story. The ending is the best! ...more

Because I scan-read this book as fast as possible, I rate this at two stars. The story was OK, and I normally like time travel, but my enthusiasm for this kind of time travel story was the realization his body was actually in a coma, so doom was hanging over me (so I didn't enjoy reading) and I scan-read just to see how the story turned out. ...more

I'd give it a 2 1/2. I liked the plot and I like time travel stories in general but this felt flat. It was the same with the other book of hers I read her writing just isn't very description and there isn't much emotion. I wanted to understand what the characters were feeling not just that something happened. ...more

I can't really say that this was a "fun" read because it was a really emotional story. However, the concept was interesting and I have always liked time travel books. I felt like it was pretty easy to guess the outcome before it happened. The ending was good and a life was changed for the better. ...more

This was a cute LDS read. A fun twist on a time-travel story. The story takes place in Alpine in 1915 and present-day Salt Lake. It's not just a love story but more about a person's ability to change. ...more
