Pages and pages of cartoons from The Realist, some of them classics, some forgotten, but all a kind of harsh graffiti that scorched the walls of America for decades. Fantagraphics supplies helpful footnotes to explain the lost topicality but readers of my age won't need it, as the calendar advances (or devolves) from Kennedy to LBJ to Nixon, Reagan, Bush I. A few chuckles, but the humor was mostly not for me. I sympathize with the worldview in the cartoons but I lack most of the context for all but the last couple decades
