Music is my motivation. I’ve always believed that, because of it, I would be somebody. Somebody to someone, and something to myself.

At age four, I picked up my grandfather’s acoustic guitar and, up until three weeks ago, I’ve never put it down. From a single chord to a full arrangement, music fed my soul. I craved it with every fiber of my being, but now, I just don’t know. That driving force that’s always pushed me has somehow stalled, along with the thrill, the passion, and the familiarity . . . it’s all gone. I’m beginning to worry that my love for music just isn’t enough.

As the summer tour finally comes to an end, I head to the Blue Ridge Mountains instead of returning to Nashville. It’s here that I’ve always been able to lose myself amongst the solitude and the lake, but what I didn’t expect to find was her.

Wild blonde hair, light blue eyes, and a laugh I find myself trying to coax from her has me completely enamored. She’s quiet, incredibly poised, and driven by secrets as big as the mountains around us. They’re what’s made her untouchable, and left me wanting to know more.

Maybe that’s what I need. Maybe I need more. Maybe I need her.

Kathryn Andrews is a #1 Inspirational Romance Bestselling Author who loves stories that end with a happily ever after. She started writing at age seven and never stopped. Kathryn is known for Chasing Clouds, the Starving for Southern series, and her much loved Hale Brothers series. Her stories are sweet, southern, and fall into the genres of chi-lit, contemporary romance, sports romance, and southern fiction.

Kathryn graduated from the University of South Florida with degrees in Biology and Chemistry, and currently lives in Tampa, Florida. She spends her days as a sales director for a medical device company and her nights lost in her love of fictional characters.

When Kathryn is not crafting beautiful worlds that incorporate some of her most favorite real life places, she can be found hanging out with her husband and two young sons, while drinking iced coffee and enjoying the sun.

A note from the author...

Over ten years ago my husband and I were driving from Chicago to Tampa and somewhere in Kentucky I remember seeing a billboard that was all black with five white words, “I do, therefore I am!” I’m certain that it was a Nike ad, but for me I found this to be completely profound.

Take running for example. Most will say that a runner is someone who runs five days a week and runs under a ten minute mile pace. Well, I can tell you that I never run five days a week and on my best days my pace is an eleven minute mile. I have run quite a few half marathons and one full marathon. No matter what anyone says, I am a runner. I do, therefore I am.

I’ve taken this same thought and applied it to so many areas of my life: cooking, gardening, quilting, and yes…writing.

I may not be culinary trained, but I love to cook and my family and friends loves to eat my food. I cook, therefore I am a chef!

My thumb is not black. I love to grow herbs, tomatoes, roses, and lavender. I garden, therefore I am a gardener!

I love beautiful fabrics and I can follow a pattern. My triangles may not line up perfectly…but who cares, my quilts are still beautiful when they are finished. I quilt, therefore I am a quilter.

I have been writing my entire life. It is my husband who finally said, “Who cares if people like your books or not? If you enjoy writing them and you love your stories…then write them.” He has always been my biggest fan and he was right. Being a writer has always been my dream and what I said I wanted to be when I grew up.

So, I’ve told you who I am and what I love to do…now I’m going to tell you the why.

I have two boys that are three years a part. My husband and I want to instill in them adventure, courage, and passion. We don’t expect them to be perfect at things, we just want them to try and do. It’s not about winning the race, it’s about showing up in the first place. We don’t want them to be discouraged by society stereotypes, we want them to embrace who they are and what they love. After all, we only get one life.

In the end, they won’t care how many books I actually sell…all that matters to them is that I said I was going to do it, I did it, and I have loved every minute of it.

Find something that you love and tell yourself, “I do, therefore I am.”

This isn't your typical rock star romance. In fact, it's far from it. Will Ashton & Ava Layne are both hugely successful within the music industry in their own rights, but success comes at a cost. For Will, it's his integrity—it used to be all about the music, but he's finding that these days, it's not so much. Ava is struggling with her own demons. Like any fascinating romance heroine, she has a past, and it's one that haunts her every day, and impacts on all aspect of her life, including her career. A chance meeting causes this musical duo's paths to cross, and in doing so, sets a chain of events in motion, forcing each of them to question who they are and what they want.

Blue Horizons is a love story that deals with some dark and serious issues, yet manages to leave you with a smile on your face as you set your kindle down and sigh. It is a beautiful story, told in a stunningly captivating manner that will have you reluctant to stop reading until you've devoured the entire novel.

Simply put, you NEED to read it.

Kathryn Andrews' Blue Horizons is one of those books which is filled with loads and loads of fluff with just the right amount of angst that you can't help but smile from the beginning to the end.

This novel though based on the rockstar 'genre' is so different from the others in its category. This story is about Ash and Ava and their emotionally filled story that is bound to stay with the reader in one way or another. The characters are fantastic and easily relatable, the story is engaging and the emotions just leap from the written words and surrounds you within it.

Let's get to know the character's first. Here's what the blurb says about them.

Ash, known as Will Ashton to the rest of the world is an honest to god good guy. Everything was perfect for him and why not he was living his dream! But then the lights, the crowd and everything that comes with being a Country singer superstar started weighing him down he left everything to find that missing piece of him that got lost in the fame.

Ava, known as Avery Layne to rest of the world lives, eats and breathes music but what she craves the most is some normalcy and a steady pace from her life. She moved to New York to escape from the betrayal she suffered at the hands of the people who were supposed to love her; but the ghosts of her past still haunt her after so many years.

Blue Horizons tells an emotional story of two lost souls, who are in search for something more. To escape the madness that surrounds them they find themselves in North Carolina. They hoped and wanted for peace and quite, something their lifestyle didn't let them have. But what they find among the beautiful scenery is a whirlwind romance packed with emotional turmoil leading them both down a path that they never thought to be possible.

This novel is well rounded. It gives both the leading characters enough scope and time to develop. One of Kathryn Andrews' plus point is her ability to subtly weave jam packed emotions in her words without suffocating the characters. Another is her ability to give the setting of the story its own identity! The places are described in such beautiful details, you can't help but conjure images in your mind! Kathryn also adds the perfect amount of mystery in the story to keep the reader on his/her toes. And boy does she give you a run for the money. The 'little' mystery isn't revealed until the 98% mark of the book!

Oh and the music! There is so much music in and around the story... *sigh* I love music. I'm crazy about music so that was an added bonus for me.

The chemistry between Ash and Ava is tangible from the first time they met. But is that chemistry enough when they are lying about who they are to each other?

Yet another emotion filled story by Kathryn Andrews that shows you the highs and lows that comes with being musical superstars. This novel is very well put together. Kathryn created two beautiful characters that find solace in each other. This book is definitely different from her debut series. It is more mature and will appeal to the people that don't mind reading about a book that is venturing in and between YA/NA genre.

Blue Horizons by Kathryn Andrews
4.5 stars!!

“Life isn’t about how many breaths we take, but how many moments take our breath away.”

I have been a fan of Kathryn Andrews since her first book. Anyone who knows me knows that I am an emotional reader, I am all about character connection and I relish when an author can pull me so far into their story that I feel every emotion that the characters feel and Kathryn Andrews never fails to deliver.

Will Ashton is a country music star, something that he has always aspired to be yet at the moment it isn’t proving to be all it is cracked up to be. Will is one of these artists that needs to feel his music, he loves to write his music, but fame comes with a price and that is endless appearances and a lack of time ultimately to them losing “their roots” and losing their integrity. After the culmination of years on the road and tirelessly working reach breaking point, Will escapes into hiding for a few months, he needs to regroup, he needs to sort out his head. He goes to the only place he can relax, the Blue Ridge Mountains, a place where he spent his youth with his grandfather and place he holds dear to his heart.

“All I ever wanted was to be somebody. Somebody to someone and somebody to myself.”

Ava Layne is a musician herself but is more classically trained. Ava and her two best friends are really successful in their own right and their contemporary edge on classical instruments has given them a niche in the market. Ava is escaping her past, a traumatic past and while the physical scars have healed the emotional ones have not. Ava is emotionally closed off and cannot even bare to be touched, her story is heart breaking and no matter how hard she tries she just cannot seem to move on. She keeps herself to herself preferring her own company to others but underneath that frosty façade is a broken soul who is letting her past dictate her future, but she has a heart of gold and desperately just wants to love and be loved but the scars of her past have made that virtually impossible.

“All I want is to gather her in my arms and tell her that nothing bad will ever happen to her again…only I can’t.”

Kathryn Andrews weaves a beautiful tale in her tell-tale magical way. Despite Ava’s past her flash backs are dealt with compassionately and really helps you to understand her and while those flash backs are not in the least bit pretty they are not over the top either. My heart broke for Ava so many times and to see the person she is today, even being broken, is a miracle in itself.

When Will and Ava’s paths cross, they both keep their true identities secret and are both honest about it too, but the more time they spend together the more the little snippets of their realities spill out. These two are so well suited to each other, their connection is undeniable, the only ones in denial are themselves, more so Ava than Will. They have so much in common and Will seems to be able to break through those little fissures in Ava’s armour.

“Never let yesterday use up too much of today.”

Kathryn Andrews really brings these characters to life in this story, you cannot help but feel Ava’s pain and insecurities and Will’s desperation at trying to win the woman he has fallen in love with. This book was perfectly balanced with just enough angst but the emotions are tangible and reduced me to tears on several occasions. But these tears are a true sign that the author has done their job in evoking those deep seated emotions and bringing them to my trusty tear ducts. With each book that Kathryn Andrews publishes I can see the growth in her writing, it just gets better and better, the flow, the construction of so many touching and poignant sentences and paragraphs just really brought to the surface the pain and insecurities of both these characters.

Once again another winner from Kathryn Andrews, I would really love to know Clay’s story, he is Will’s band mate but also his foster brother. His wit and mannerisms really brought some much needed humour to this story and really balanced this emotional story.

Copy gifted by the author in exchange for an honest review.

It was my first book by Kathryn. And I'm ashamed to admit that. I own all of her books but there is always something that is more important. But after reading this book, I couldn't wait any longer and started to read her previous books. I want to kick myself that I have always pushed them away. But anyway... let's concentrate on Blue Horizons.

In here we meet Will Ashton. A successful musician who appears to have everything. Money, fame and life he has chosen 10 years ago. But standing on the scene during he concert his thoughts are not full of pride and achievement. There is no adrenaline. No rush he used to feel while performing. There is only feeling of being lost. The only thing he can think of is to run away from there. Far away. Somewhere where no one will be able to find him and somewhere where he will be able to think. To find his path again. After he walks away after the concert we meet him again few months later in the only place he is able to find piece. Among the mountains, on the lake where he used to spend his time with his grandfather. What he did not expect was to find something that was missing. Or rather someone. He did not expect to meet Ava and simply fell for her. It was not in his plans, but once he met her and got to know her, he realized that she was the missing piece to make him happy.

Avery Layne is a troubled young woman. She has lived through something that no one should have. And this traumatic day has damaged and scarred her beyond anyone imaginations. Now she a timid, closed and afraid of simple touch. When I read her memory flashes, I cried, even though it's not an ugly crier. Not at all. But I felt her pain, fear and her drive to be free from this haunting memories. And she found her hope in Ash. A mysterious guy who she met during her weekend at her friend's parents house.

Kathryn has touched a really difficult topic here and what I liked the most is the fact that she didn't concentrate only on this. On ho Ava was damaged. Hurt. Scared. But on how Will wanted to help her even though he didn't know what has happened to her and what to do. He simply took his own personal experience and tried to help her as once he was helped by his foster parents.

Kathryn's writing is flawless. She has amazing style that pulls you straight away. I have fallen in love with Will instantly. And I have fallen in love with Clay. His quiet best friend. Even though he is not appearing in the book as often as I would like, I loved him for his kindness and understanding he gave to Will, when he needed it.

Beautiful story that will make you laugh, cry and sigh every so often.

I became a fan of Kathryn Andrews when I read her Hale Brothers series. I'm definitely remaining a fan after reading BLUE HORIZONS.
Andrews has a way of making my heart smile with her stories. Somehow she manages to maintain a sense of courtship for lack of a better word. Her characters aren't in love by the end of the first chapter or ripping off their clothes three pages in. It's almost a sense of old fashioned love where the feelings build and the couple really get to know each other. Don't get me wrong this isn't some granny love. There's a whole lotta sexiness going on through every page turn.
Will Ashton is down home country boy who's got a ruggedness yet boyishness to him. He's a gentlemen who will make your heart go pitter patter and your panties melt. He's sure of himself without being arrogant. He's talented yet humble. Will Ashton just wants to "Be."
Avery Layne has been betrayed and hurt in the most unspeakable way. She is extremely guarded. She's timid. She's the girl next door who had fairytale dreams. Avery Layne just wants to "Be."
Together they navigate through circumstance and each other to find out what BE-ing means. I thoroughly enjoyed the build up of their relationship. The twists and snags in Will's and Avery's journey were perfect and kept me guessing the whole time. Kathryn Andrews writing style is fresh, light and down to earth. Her stories resonate with the reader. You can always relate to the characters on some level.
BLUE HORIZONS is well written, draws in the reader from the get go and has a great balance of emotions. If you haven't read a Kathryn Andrews story, give it go. You won't be disappointed.

4.5 "Blue Eyed" Stars

This was my first Kathryn Andrews book, but let me just say that it certainly won't be my last. Andrew's writing is elegant. Blue Horizons was a slow burning love, packed full with healing and sparks. It was filled with the best kind of passionate tension and all of the emotional depth I look for in a book.

I walked into this story blind, but I know now that this book would have exceeded my every expectation I could have had. It was a stunning story of finding love and healing. Will Ashton will forever hold a piece of my heart just as Avery Layne has taught me more about not letting your fears rule your future than I would have ever imagined.

Andrews addresses difficult topics with grace and heart. I truly felt all of the emotions with none of the cliche "shock and awe" tactics that are often thrown into books, as if a girl who had undergone trauma would make a more complex character. Andrews doesn't use the trauma as a crutch to make her story more "interesting" the way that I often see it done, but rather uses it as a tool for character growth and a way to show the evidence of compassionate true love. I cannot even begin express the respect I have for Andrews simply for this alone.

Thank you, Kathryn, for writing such a gorgeous book. It was life changing and enjoyable, every last word of it.

You GUYS! I LOVED this book!!! Going into this book I was already very aware of what an amazing storyteller Kathryn Andrews is. Her stories are uniquely crafted with the upmost detail and precision. She knows how to put a different twist on the everyday romance plot which makes her books stand out from the crowd. Blue Horizons did not disappoint me in any of these aspects.

This book blends together two of my favorite things: music, and romance. Ash is a 30 year old extremely successful musician. Ava is a beautiful, mysterious girl he stumbles upon one night in a bar. Their connection is undeniable from the beginning. Both have secrets and details of their lives they would prefer to keep secret. Both can’t seem to stay away from each other. Even though they would both like to keep their identities hidden they have this hunger and longing to get to know one another.

This book kept me guessing until the very end. There is a mystery surrounding our beautiful Ava that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. Kathryn plays Ava’s story out beautifully. She knows how to give the reader just enough information to keep the pages turning, but not enough to give everything away at once. You are going to absolutely fall in love with these characters and their story.

Trust me you want to grab this one today! 5 shooting stars!

Holy wow... This book was so amazing. I can't even begin to describe the awesomeness of this book. Kathryn has this amazing gift of not just writing stories that hook you but grab ahold of your heart and just like her other books this one did the same. I knew before going into it I wouldn't be the same after. We meet Will 'Ash' Ashton who is beyond amazing and Avery Layne. Two people who are more alike than they even know. Will is a country superstar that is lost and tired of the fame. Avery who is an amazing piano player who has such a heartbreaking past that haunts her constantly. These two when they meet is instant attraction and they're true soulmates. I loved these two together. I loved this whole story. I definitely see a reread very soon. I really hope to see a Clay and Emma story in the future. 5 stars isn't enough for this beautiful love story.

This is my TOP read of the year,

and i can't even describe all the emotions that I received after reading. Av and Ash are trying to find their existence in life but , furthermore, also found each other. Both have their own demons , which must be overcome but they proved that trust and love can do miracle.
I'm so happy that i was given this book as a gift, cuz the the message of the story is that if you give trust and love to the right person , demons may disappear and life becomes once again a challenge which youre looking forward.

This ig highly recomented to everybody who wants to read a book with briliant story, with characters which you will never forget.

Each new novel I read from Kathryn leaves me all warm and fuzzy. Her novels have a journey in each of them that  leaves you broken at some points and healed at others. It is a beautiful thing. This novel has a few of those journeys in it  and you won't be able to forget it anytime soon.

Will and Ava are both famous in their own, but in the same way they are both broken. To escape reality and the life that has pulled them both down deep different ways. Throw in some demons hunting the present and scars that need to be healed and this story was heartbreakingly beautiful.

I adored everything about this novel. From the emotionally broken characters, to the romance story intertwined with the healing, this novel has the making for a nice night cuddled up with a bottle of wine. I really love a story that pulls me in and makes my heart hurt while I read. Kathryn has a real talent for this.

This novel is creature all its own. It is a top read for the year for me and I am definitely going to need a signed copy of it. I adored every page of it. It has its ups and downs and keep your hopeful and wondering about the end. It has it surprises and parts that leave you mouth agape. So jump into this hot NA read. You don't want to miss it.

Synopsis:
Will Ashton

Flame level: 1
POV: Dual (Ava and Ash)
My thoughts: I kind of rolled my eyes when I first grabbed this book. Another book with a famous rockstar (country singer) who hides his identity. READ IT. However, I decided to push through a few chapters and then before I knew it, I was totally hooked. Ash was more that just a famous guy trying to hid his identity. And, it worked really well that Ava/Avery had things she was hiding too. That made the story have a bit more depth than I expected. Ava's past is tragic and I felt that I understood her reactions and reasons. She explains why she (and so many women in similar situations) stay in those situations. It's really well written.
Themes/Tropes: rockstar, abuse victim, hidden identity
If you liked: A less steamy version of A Stone in the Sea by AL Jackson, Emphatic by Kaylee Ryan (a fav of mine!) or other rockstar romance books!

When music is your motivation, you depend on the love it brings, the intensity, the calling.
For Will Ashton this seems to be gone.
When you think you've had enough...have you really?
Ava Layne has found herself, her place among her friends.
Her piano and new life complete her...almost.

Fear...it is an all encompassing feeling.

Love is too, but once you've felt fear, it is harder to allow love.

What will the Blue Ridge Mountains bring?
What demons will surface?

Kathryn Andrews has made me fall in love: with music again, with the mountains, with a simpler life, with love.
Will Ashton is a book boyfriend for the "books"!

Absolutely wonderful!

Wow...just...wow! I read this book in one sitting. I haven't been so captivated by a book for a long, long time. This author is a favorite for a couple of reasons; first because the writing is clever, witty and engaging, and second because she writes of unique but plausible people and events.

Ava is a woman with a past, a past that is still haunting her. Ash just wants to feel again. Somehow their paths cross and suddenly they become much aware of each other and realize that is what they want.

I've read every book that Kathryn wrote and I can say that Ash's and Ava's story is by far my favourite.

And... Beau... *squeal*

This isn't your typical "rock star"
romance. Will Ashton and Ava
Layne are both struggling with
what they want, and who they are
in life. Will is struggling with his
integrity and how that plays out
in his music. He is tired of this
lifestyle and is wanting a change.
Ava is struggling with demons
from her past. Hers is a sad story
that I think the author did a great
job with.

I was rooting for this couple from
the start. Will was exactly the
calming force that Ava needed in
her life. Ava was exactly what Will
needed to help him find himself in
his music.

I loved everything about this book.
It was not your typical rock-star
romance....it was better.

What an amazing book! I loved every page of this and devoured it from beginning to the end. Kathryn does an excellent job in painting the scenes between Will and Ava, two people looking for something they lost and are unsure of how to get it back. Will plays the perfect hero: observant, patient, kind and sexy. Ava's life has been revolving around her tragic past, but with the help of Will, she begins to learn how to deal with it. An absolute must-read for those who enjoy sexy singers with big hearts and knows that love can conquer all.

Every once and awhile I come across a book that I know will stay with me forever. A book that moves me, that allows me to feel everything, and gives me the chance to so truly and authentically live and breathe within its magnificent pages. A book filled with such phenomenal characters weaving their way through an unforgettable story that captures me in mind, body, and soul, and truly never lets me go.

Blue Horizons by Kathryn Andrews was all that and more.

This book is hands down one of my favorite books that I’ve read this year, and I know that Ash and Ava and their emotionally breathtaking story will stay with me in so many ways. You don’t read a book so eloquently and beautifully written as this one without having some part of it stay with you permanently. The fantastic characters, the captivating story, and all of the superb feelings and emotions emanating so outstandingly from Blue Horizons found their way deep into my heart right from the very start, and I know they’re here to stay.

It’s pretty safe to say that Kathryn Andrews is one of my favorite authors. Her books are ones that I love and feel every word of, and they’ve all taken me on some incredibly enrapturing journeys with some amazing and wonderful characters. Her writing is so fluid and seamless, and allows you to become so wonderfully consumed and invested in what she is creating. You don’t just read her books, you live through them with these characters because of how outstanding her writing is. She puts you there, heart first, feeling, experiencing, and loving it all because of how connected you are to the story and its characters.

I could honestly go on and on about how much I love her fantastic writing, and how much I connected to Ash and Ava throughout her thoughtfully crafted and beautifully written book. Her words just give so much, and I gladly took all of it because it was all amazing to experience.

Blue Horizons tells the emotionally enrapturing story of Ash and Ava, two musical souls searching for something more. They both find themselves in the mountains of North Carolina, a bit lost, seeking some time to recharge, and looking for that something more that they both so truly crave and seek. What they find is each other, and a whirlwind of immense feelings that leads them to places they never thought they’d be. Ash and Ava have both gone through so much in their pasts and present, and in Blue Horizons you get the phenomenal chance to go along with them on their emotional journey as they figure out what they could share with one another, if they only gave it a chance and fought for that light in the dark.

Kathryn Andrews weaves so many phenomenal aspects together in this Blue Horizons to make it such a well-rounded book that gives a truly extraordinary and all-feeling reading experience. You get the emotions and feelings from both of these characters that drive this story to the most breathtaking places. You get a bit of mystery that is fantastically added into the story pulling you into everything you’re reading so immensely, and with each new puzzle piece to the story and characters you get, you end up loving these characters and everything you’re experiencing with them all the more.

You also get music. So much amazing and beautiful music that is woven so fantastically into the core of these characters and the story itself in such a way that reading this book is like listening to your favorite song. Your love for it just builds and builds throughout, and once you reach that cadence and that peak that love is amplified times a million, and all throughout you simply can’t get enough and want to replay it over and over again.

I couldn’t get enough of Ash and Ava. I still can’t get enough of Ash and Ava as I sit here writing this review. I love those two something fierce, and all throughout Blue Horizons, I wanted to reach in and hug them both, cheer them on, and let them know that they were the best because that’s what they were.

Ash was just an honest to goodness good guy. I can’t say enough how much that goodness emanated from him in Blue Horizons, and how much I love and respected his character. I fell so hard for him right from the start, and I lost count of the amount of times that man made me full on swoon. He’s pretty much the best, and you will love, feel, and connect to him right from the moment you start this book. When you meet him, he is burnt out and looking for a break and maybe a little something more. What he finds on that break is certainly the more he’s been searching for, and will scare him, move him, and bring out so much in him that will leave you breathless in the best possible way. Suffice to say, I heart me some Ash, and that man is truly golden in my eyes.

Ava’s character was one that I felt connected to from the moment I met her. She is very real and relatable, and so easy to love. She also has one of the most heart squeezing and pain filled stories I’ve ever read, yet she is fighting through it all and doing her best to just be. There were so many moments where my heart shattered for her. I felt beyond emotionally connected to her as I got all of the pieces to her, and I was so invested in her journey as a character because of how breathtakingly beautiful Kathryn Andrews created her character.

When you meet Ava in this story she is pushing through it all, just trying to get by and past the darkness that has surrounded her for so long. She’s looking for that light, that beacon of hope to pull her through and to fill her with everything she’s been searching for, and that is where one Will Ashton comes in and changes everything.

Ash and Ava definitely go through a journey in Blue Horizons. It isn’t always easy for them, in fact it’s downright hard from time to time, but through it all these two keep pushing and fighting and giving it their all so that they can explore what it is that they share. Their evolution together and the effect they have on one another will have you loving them all the more, and truly feeling what those two mean to one another.

They have so many moments in this book that will make your heart melt from the feeling what they’re sharing, and what they’re putting on the line. So many moments where your heart will break and squeeze for them because of what they’re going through as they try to figure out what it is that they could share. They also share so many moments that will have your heart racing because of the butterflies and spark that they so authentically and immensely create for one another.

You get it all with Ash and Ava. Their emotional and all-feeling journey is one that will consume you from beginning to end, and have you experiencing every ounce of what they are as they give their all in the hopes of finding that light and that more that they both are seeking and so truly deserve.

I really could continue telling you about how much I loved Blue Horizons by Kathryn Andrews. I could tell you more about the amazingness that is Ash and Ava, and their emotional and breathtaking journey together that you will feel so truly with your entire being. I could let you know about all the supporting characters that round out this book, and make it even more enjoyable to read. I could keep telling you about every single memorable moment of this book that had me smiling like crazy, tearing up more times than I could count, laughing and blushing and just feeling it all. I could even keep talking about Kathryn Andrews and her outstanding writing that brought the world of this book and these distinctive and wonderful characters to life.

I could continue for pages and pages about how much I loved this book, and I still wouldn’t come close to capturing how extraordinary Blue Horizons is. I wouldn’t come close to doing this book, its unforgettable story, and its phenomenal characters the justice they so rightly deserve. Kathryn Andrews truly blew me away with everything she gave me in Blue Horizons.

I felt it all. I lived it all. I loved it all.

Like I said, every once and awhile you read a book that moves you. A book that lets you feel and experience it all so wholly. A book that makes you realize why you read, because when you read a book like Blue Horizons, you’re reading pure literary goodness and magic that will take you on a journey you won’t soon forget. Reading a book as exceptional as this one just reminded me over and over again why this author is one of my favorites, and why the stories and characters she so beautifully crafts are ones I will always remember and treasure.

Blue Horizons by Kathryn Andrews is a book that gives you everything. It’s book about two musical souls searching for that something more, and the pure, unadulterated magic that can happen when you get a glimpse and find that someone who shows you the light and the feeling you’ve been searching for. It’s a story about giving it your all, finding the beauty in overcoming all the pain, and experiencing that glorious and beautiful light that can truly change your life if you let it.

This book is beautiful, feeling, and breathtaking in every way, shape, and form, and I promise you that you will be left in awe with all that Ash and Ava give you. They will blow you away with everything they’ve got, and in the end, you will love and bask in every single incredible and remarkable moment they so truly give you in this exceptional book.

Read this book. Feel this book. Let it consume you, and let Ava and Ash steal your heart a million times over. You won’t be sorry one little bit that you gave them that chance. Trust me.

4 Stars

I loved reading Blue Horizons. I didn't know what to expect as I bought the book a good 6 or 7 years ago and didn't check the blurb again but this story was what I needed. Some parts were really heavy and tough to read but for the majority it was heart-warming, wholesome, and simply perfect. Kathryn Andrews really knows how to write a good book and bring characters to life. Ava and Ash were just so great. If it hadn't been for work and me traveling for a week I would've finished this book within a few days, as I read the last half of it within two days.

I was tempted to give this first installment in the "Horizon Valley" Series a 5 star rating but there was one thing that made me choose 4 stars instead. Without getting into too much detail and spoiling the whole thing there are two incidents in the beginning and in the end that makes makes Ava stay with Ash out of necessity.
Why did it have to play out like this? Why couldn't Andrews choose a different and less-dramatic incident for Ava to stay with Ash? There are so many possibilities out there but Andrews chose to let Ava suffer twice. I don't really appreciate this turn the book in these two cases.

Also, the miscommunication between Ava and Ash at the end was a little bit too dramatic. Ava should have just asked and Ash should have just get his brain together and tell her the whole thing. He seemed to oblivious.

Even though these two things were a damper on the story, I loved the overall storyline, the characters, and the feelings that Blue Horizons gave me. It has been quite a while since I picked up a Kathryn Andrews and I wonder why I haven't earlier. But I will make sure to read the rest of the series (Hello Clay!) and look out for other books as well.

I absolutely loved this book from the first page to the last. I couldn't tell you if it was the sexy Ash, the heartbreaking Ava or the combination of them both, but whatever it was it worked. Kathryn Andrews gives her readers a romance like I haven't read in a long time. Not a whole lot of steamy sex, however a story like this didn't need it. These characters needed baby steps moving forward and that's exactly what she gave them.

"All I ever wanted was to be somebody. Somebody to someone and somebody to myself, and ten years later, I feel more lost than found." ~ Ash

That line is at 1% of the book and is when I was all in. Ash is lost. After getting what he wanted for the past ten years, he realizes it isn't what he wants at all. He has lost himself somewhere along the way and is now bound and determined to find that guy again. After his last concert took what little he had left, Ash heads to his serene lake house to plan his next move. Just him, his dog Whiskey and the peaceful lake, Ash can finally relax long enough to put things into perspective. After a low key night out with his best friend Clay, Ash meets the girl that just may change the direction his life is headed.

"My heart is thundering through my ears, not because it's interested in her, but because it feels like it knows her." ~ Ash

Her being the beautiful Ava, who is as lost in her life as the handsome guy she kneed in the nutsack. Ava saw Ash at the bar, but knows she isn't ready to deal with men right now. Ava has boundaries and Ash learned the hard way what happens when they are crossed. She likes him, however Ava's past has a pretty strong grip on her mind all these years later and she finds if she isn't careful, she's mentally right back in the same situation.

"All wounds heal, and all wounds leave scars. Inside or out, they're still there." ~ Ava

This is what Ash is up against, her scars from the past. He takes on the challenge of Ava, hoping he can help her make good memories to replace the bad. Sure they aren't disclosing full truths, but they both like what they have seen this far and take the chance. Ash and Ava are learning to love the real person in front of them, not the public persona they are each associated with.

"In fact, all those things that have made her imperfect, have made her the perfect imperfection to me." ~ Ash

Only a song writer could come up with lines like that and Ash is full of them. The book is well written from dual points of view and I couldn't put the dang thing down, as I was so curious to see how it was going to unfold once everything is disclosed between Ash and Ava. Kathryn Andrews did a great job at keeping the angst high and tying it all together in the end. It's a fantastic stand alone read!

What happens when the life you've dreamed of doesn't live up to reality?

Musicians, Will Ashton and Avery Layne, have never met but they do have something that connects them on a deep level. Music. Music is their life. Music is their language. Music is the way they speak.

What happens when Country Music Superstar meets his beautiful butterfly?

Meeting Avery came at a time when Will needed it most. He's lost. He's not sure if his love of music is enough anymore. But with one look he knows what he wants and what he needs.
There is something about the handsome Will that Avery MUST have. Unfortunately for her that's not possible. She's closed off. All she needs is her music and her best friends.
Along with her best friends, Emma and Cora, we watch as Will slowly gets Avery to lower her walls. He's patient. He's kind. He's caring. He's loving. The feelings that Avery makes Will feel are pure and honest. With Will's love we watch as Avery slowly spreads her wings and just decides to BE. He makes her smile. He makes her laugh. He makes her happy. Something Avery hasn't experienced in a long time.
One thing this book, for me, points out strongly is that communication is important. Without it you have hurtful misunderstandings and unnecessary heartbreak. I'm not sure if there is words that could accurately describe this book besides that it is beautiful. Just simply. Beautiful. This is a poignant love story that touched my heart with the depth of love shown.

Kathryn Andrews has done it again with a truly beautiful, heartbreaking and healing story! After being a fan of Kathryn’s from the very start with the Hale Brothers’ series I was looking forward to reading Blue Horizons, as a stepping stone of a new chapter of characters; and boy wasn’t it a gut-wrenching tear-flooding heartbreak pull of emotions to read. My heart felt violated and put through the ringer as the emotion and beauty of character flaws and heart broke and built an undeniable bond between two souls held by the past, lost in the present and unable to find a way to the future.

There is something special about the way Kathryn Andrews binds characters and builds connections as it puts me in a mood to dive deep into the souls of connection and the never stop reading. In Blue Horizons the depth of a painful past from the lead female Ava attributes a new branch in direction in Kathryn’s writing. I found that Blue Horizons for me; took a more descriptive and the torched souls combining lead a passionate and emotional path of healing and heart.

Ava is a soulful musician with a traumatic past that through chance meets Ash {Will Ashton} at a bar and a connection builds and tantalises through the looks and deceptions of truth. Chances arise; past scriptures of a taunting pain haunt the lines of the pages and trust leads the way as to whether walls can break and Ash can hold Ava whilst the walls of pain hold her tight.

The stories elements hold you tight and the writing flows from your fingers to your toes unbreakable and page after page creating magic. Kathryn’s sonnet of heart with a subject many would turn away from defines the greatness of powerful writing and how no matter how alone you feel the hold of a connection can be your strength.

Although, I wasn’t deeply in love with the descriptive depths of Blue Horizons; that’s just the mood swinging gypsy my mind can be when she wants more dialogue I still loved it. The writing and characters united the created a melody of strings and keys the lyrically spoke to me and I truly recommend reading it. A beautiful story and one you definitely won’t regret picking up.

4 Crowns

Will Ashton is disillusioned. Having dreamt of making it big in the music industry since picking up a guitar, he has spent the last 5 years riding the waves of success that have catapulted to the top of the country music scene. But at what cost? Compromising everything he wanted when he started making music with his best friend Clay all those years ago, this isn't how he envisioned it to be. Lost and lonely, he makes a decision that will give him the break he so desperately needs, but that could also mean the end of the road for his music.

Avery Layne lives, eats and sleeps music, but she also craves the peace to move on from her past. Born and bred in the Midwest, she moved to New York to escape the darkness of betrayal and move forward with her life. But those ghosts still follow her all these years later. If it wasn't for her best friends Emma and Cora, who knows where she would be. They have been her backbone, her strength, but maybe it’s now time to finally escape the past and look toward a brighter future.

Two people in desperate need for change. When they meet the chemistry is tangible, but is it enough? One is in need of inspiration for the future and one is desperate for liberation from the horrors of the past. When they meet as just two people in a bar, little do they know the effects that meeting will have on them both.

Another emotional read from Kathryn Andrews. Beautifully written, this author doesn't shy away from tackling subjects that don’t necessarily go hand in hand with formula romance writing. Once again she has created two characters that face their own problems, but somehow become a healing balm for someone else. Kathryn has created a real atmospheric love story, and one that is very different to her début series. It feels more mature and will appeal to people that maybe found that series bordered in a more YA/NA setting. This is very much NA and I think her writing style really suits it.

If you like your romance to have soul and emotion, Blue Horizon is the perfect read.

I've got two words for you: simply amazing! And just so you know, I was adding this to my top recommendations list before I even finished reading it...that's how much I think of this book.

Let me tell you something about these characters--they are written so well that you feel like you know them, feel thoroughly invested in their lives and emotions, and especially for Ava...feel her extreme responses right down into your heart, which will truly ache for her and what she's been through (and still goes through as the story unfolds). Even as a reader, I felt very protective of Ava's character. And the way that Ash instinctively knows just what to do when interacting with Ava is just extraordinary. It is plain to see as the story progresses that the two of them are two halves of a whole, and while Ava's issues are completely heartbreaking...the two of them together are absolutely heartWARMING--not to mention healing, loving and just wonderful.

If you think I'm going overboard, I'm seriously not.

The story itself flows seamlessly and draws you in effortlessly, keeping you solidly ensconced within its pages to the point that you won't want to put it down. It has a strong cast of supporting characters whose stories you'll be clamoring to hear as well once you're done (I'm particularly interested in Clay, Ash's best friend). There's a bit of misunderstanding toward the end to rile things up a bit-just enough to make you worry-and emotional turmoil all throughout.

I know I'll be re-reading this many times, it's too wonderful a story to only read once. I highly recommend this deeply emotional, absolutely stunning story...and as I'm sure you've already guessed, this was a 5-star read for me. Be aware that this book does cover the sensitive topic of domestic violence, and some parts may be a trigger for some readers, which leads me to caution that it be for 18+ due to the delicate subject matter. But rest assured, these parts are handled with care and compassion.

Will Ashton has lost the feeling. The rush that comes from being on stage and performing his music ... its just gone, and with it has gone his desire to keep doing what he's been doing for years. Singing, playing, performing, all of it, and so he retreats from the world to his house hidden up in the mountains to be alone, relax, and work out what his next move will be.

Slowly coming out of his funk, he ventures out to a nearby bar, the very place where he, and best friend got their start so many years ago, and of course, as these things go, that's where he first encounters ... her.

After a ridiculously awkward beginning, it quickly becomes obvious that there's a mutual attraction, but equally obvious is the reality that she's not remotely ready to act on it.

Not yet.

I could go on all day about how wonderful this book is. Will is seemingly the perfect guy. For all that he's working through what he wants to do with his career going forward, he's got himself together. Financially independent and emotionally stable, with good looks and a winning personality, he's pretty much got it all together, and this new girl, clearly has no idea who he is, meaning that if she likes him, its for him.

On the flip side, Ava is holding it all together, barely. Everything in her life is structured so that the gossamer thin strands holding her world together aren't tugged too hard lest everything start falling apart, yet life is rarely that accommodating, but this new guy seems to be chomping at the bit, begging for the opportunity to catch the pieces, and the best thing? He doesn't even realize who she is.

Both knowing that the other is keeping secrets this engaging drama is beautifully sweet, sad and tragic, humbling and inspiring and incredibly poignant interspersed with some laugh out loud moments set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Secrets come out, people get hurt, and love may or may not conquer all. Loved it, loved it loved it.

Looking forward to more books in this series from Author Kathryn Andrews

I'll be the first to admit that I love a good rocker romance. Blue Horizons, though? It was SO MUCH MORE!

Will Ashton is disillusioned by the continued fame and pressures of being in a band that hit "the big time." He longs for days of simplicity, where he could play music purely for the love and joy that it brought him. Feeling a bit like a sell-out by catering to what the fans want to hear, Will decides that he needs to disappear to reevaluate his life direction- will he continue on with the way things have been going? Will he completely give music up? Will he forge a new path with a simpler direction? To decide, he heads back to the Blue Ridge Mountains to find his peace.

Avery Layne wants nothing more than a sense of inner peace. Thoughts of her past, her home, and her parents no longer give her that emotionally; her world was shattered at the age of 18, and she's still working to overcome the events that forever changed her. Now living in New York City, she longs for the fresh mountain air, the calm of the lake, and the quiet that being in Horizons Valley provides.

Neither wanting to, both Avery and Will are dragged out to Smokey's, a local bar, by their friends. Their chance encounter pushes the two on an adventure that will challenge them both in many ways, but that neither can seem to say no to. Will ("Ash") and Avery ("Ava") develop a connection that neither can deny. The details, the events, and the people that have shaped who they are are left out of the picture, but eventually threaten to destroy the fragile bonds that they slowly formed over one perfect weekend.

Can either admit who they really are? If they do, will anything change?

Emotionally charged, Blue Horizons kept me flipping pages until I could unlock the doors of Ava's mysterious past, and fighting for Ash's happiness. I absolutely loved this book, and would recommend it to anyone who is a hopeless romantic, like me. Or, just anyone with a heart, really.

5 BLUE STARS!!!!!!!

I was over the moon excited when I got to review this book. I have read the Hale Brothers series and loved it! The Author didn't disappoint!!!

I had a deep connection to this story. I had SOME similar experiences as Ava Layne.

Will Ashton- Lead singer of The Will Ashton Band. He is having a realization while on stage at one of the tour shows and realizes.....He can't do this anymore. So he leaves.

Ava Layne- It has been 7 years and she still gets panic attacks if someone grabs her, gets in her personal space.

Will & Ava run into each other at Smokey's, a local bar in Horizons Valley nestles in the Blue Ridge Mountains. They are both getting away for awhile. Will from the unhappiness of what the band has become & Ava is with some of her friends for a weekend getaway. Ava finds herself invited to Will "Ash's" house to celebrate his birthday. From the beginning, Ash is intrigued by Ava and has a sense that he knows her but can't figure out where.

When an accident happens right before Ava is suppose to head back to the City, Ash takes this opportunity to keep Ava with him longer. During this weekend Ash witnesses some of Ava's panic attacks and somehow without even knowing it helps Ava with them where others have failed to.

This is such a wonderful story of reflections, finding ones own inner strength to conquer demons. Learning to trust again. I laughed & cried and didn't want this story to end. There is so much to this story but I have to make this pretty vague so not to spoil for anyone

One of my most favorite lines ever from a book- "Never let yesterday use up too much of today" This spoke volumes to me and I plan to make it a daily mantra for me yourself a favor and get this book. And be sure to check out the Hale Brothers series.

Blue Horizons isn’t just a story about music and love, it is so much more. It was an emotional read for me; which I love. The emotions that Ms Andrews made me experience only heightened my connection to these amazing characters. Will is a successful musician but he is learning that fame and success come with a price and he isn’t willing to give up his integrity in the process. When he started it was all about the music but now he isn’t feeling it any more. So he escapes to the Blue Ridge Mountains to regroup. Ava is also a musician and has had a very troubled past. Even though the physical scars have healed she is left with huge emotional scars that keep her closed off to people. When they meet they both hide their true identities from the other but the more they are around each other the more they start to reveal about who they are and their pasts. These two really are perfect for each other even if they don’t see it right away, especially Ava.

This book has plenty of angst and emotions that literally took my breath away and left me a sobbing mess. I was reduced to tears on several occasions while reading about Ava and her trying to come to terms with her insecurities and pain from her past. Will is absolutely perfect for Ava and I loved how he tried so hard to win the girl he had fallen in love with. He seemed to find his passion for life again when he met Ava. I also loved the humor that was added by Clay, Will’s foster brother and also a member of his band. I would love to read more about Clay.

Once again Ms Andrews has hit a homerun with Blue Horizons. It has everything I have come to love about her novels and she is quickly becoming one of my favorite new to me authors. I look forward to reading more from her. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes musicians and love stories filled with emotion and angst.

Review of Blue Horizons by Kathryn Andrews

Review done for Hooked on Books

5 out of 5 stars

Will Ashton is at the top of the country charts. He never imagined he and his band would make it this far. Music is his passion but the grueling schedule of tours and the control of the label with his music has left him feeling worn down. He needs a change and heading back to the place he grew up is where he is going to start.

Being in the mountains and by the lake is where he finds solitude and can clear his head. He loves music but it just isn’t the same as it was before.

Ava Layne has been through hell and back. Her boyfriend viciously attacked her, almost killing her. Because her family and his were friends, her parents covered it up so they wouldn’t look bad. Their status was more important than their own daughter.

When Ava is old enough, she breaks away on her own to New York. Ava is a piano prodigy and ends up performing with her two best friends. Being around people isn’t easy for her but the music makes her feel alive.

When Ava’s friends take her away to a beautiful mountain town for a weekend, she meets the most gorgeous, caring man ever. He is beyond sexy and she amazingly feels safe around him.

Both keep their actual identities a secret, not wanting to let on that they are famous. The more time they spend together, the more they fall for each other.

When Ava and Will end up seeing each other at a charity event, both are surprised when they realize who each other actually is. Their chemistry is still off the charts. Both are finally ready to take a chance on love.

I loved, loved, loved this story. Will and Ava were perfect. The author did an amazing job telling a story about surviving abuse and how the victim can still find love. Will was awesome: he was so sweet and sexy.

I definitely recommend this book to read!
