No distractions, no risks, and definitely NO pilots allowed.
Hope doesn't have time for distractions. Her catering business -- the one her mother always dreamed about --demands all her time and energy. She's not about to risk her heart on a daredevil like Jake.
Jake wants a family more than anything, but he can't figure out how to meet the right woman. When his plane takes a nosedive, he discovers that Hope grounds him more than any crash ever could.
He's the one person she's not about to cater to. Can he convince her to take a chance on him before his dreams crash and burn?
Iona Findley embarked on her career as a romance writer with her very first words, "love, love, love," which she carefully dictated to her mother. Despite spurious rumors, probably the work of a jealous sibling, that her words might actually have been, "lub, lub, lub," (surely not!) or even "blub, blub, blub" (horrors!), Iona pursued a vocation in romance writing with enthusiasm. Writing fulltime now Iona fulfils the promise of her early words crafting intriguing novels of "love, love, love."

A mostly predictable story with interesting characters that would’ve been a solid 4* book if it were not for the last chapter and the many errors (typos & plot). I’m not sure if the quality is so much lower than that of the previous book in series or my language skills development combined with the low tolerance for poor editing make such a big difference - I’ll be able to see it clearer when I read the next one in series. The characters were likeable though I liked Jack much more than Hope and found his development more realistic. My biggest issue with the plot was the insta-love/love at first sight element, so it’s likely other readers will appreciate it more than I did.
Hope and Jake meet at an airport. She's just started running the concessions there and he's a pilot. He's smitten and she's attracted until she finds out he's a pilot--those are on her not a chance list. Good thing Jake likes a challenge. This is a great story about attraction, love, fear and choices.
I was introduced to Iona Finley several months ago by the book Opening Hearts which another of the books in the Heroes Heart Romance series. It was a wonderful book, however, Risking Hearts, even better! This book is about Hope and Jake two people with a love and I hate relationship of airplanes! The story starts with Jake piloting an airplane that is in trouble. He loves flying, but this flight, he did not like. Hope is at the airport for her catering business, watching in a panic as she sees the plane about to crash. You see, several months ago she was on a plane with her parents when it crashed, she was the only survivor of that flight!
They meet when hope is struggling with a cart. Jake offers to help and cockily introduces himself as a pilot unknowing Hopes fear of flying. I am not going to say anymore to describe the book. However, I am only going to say that this is a wonderful book about two people falling in love despite their differences.
Ms. Finley does wonderfully phenomenal job writing about these two falling in love and all of the ins and outs of getting through their differences.
I want to thank Ms. Iona Findley for the gift of this book for my honest opinion of it. I loved this book so much; I cannot wait for the next book in the series to come out so you can tell us about their story as well! You are a phenomenal storyteller. You make everything so real.
Thank you for reading my review. Bravo Ms. Findley, I believe you have another great hit!
I was given this book by the author for an honest review.
This is the second book I've read by this author and the second in her Hero's Heart Series.
One of the things that impressed me about this second book was the improvement I saw in the author's writing. The pacing was much better and so was the character development. There was a lot more focus on the main couple in this one and I liked that.
Jake was very easy to love. He did a few things in this book that had me getting that warm feeling in my chest. Hope was a very interesting character as well. The author did a very good job with the evolution of her character.
While there was distinct improvement in this book over the first one, there were still a few issues. I found minor editing issues as I did in the first one where words, commas, or periods were missing. However, as far as grammatical errors go it was nothing that couldn't have been fixed by a good proofreader. The biggest issue I had, though, was in regards to research. There is a flight Jake makes that is highly improbable and actually violates FAA regulations. If he was presented as a reckless pilot, this might be able to be explained but he's made out to be just the opposite.
Even with those issues, I highly enjoyed the story. I think this is an author to watch and one I hope to continue following.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a solid contemporary romance with a little bit of heat.
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Risking Hearts is book two in the Hero's Heart Romance series. It's furthers the story of smoke jumpers trying to find love. In this story, the smokejumper is Jake. He badly wants what Sam and Jessalyn (from book 1) have. Love. A family of his own. He's a pilot. And unfortunately, the woman he sets his sights on has a post traumatic stress level fear of flying. And an immediate dislike of pilots. But Jake doesn't give up no matter how many times Hope rebuffs him. And despite her better judgement, Hope can't resist Jake.
Their story is very cute. Probably my favorite so far of the series. Jake and Hope are both genuinely good people and they deserve the happiness they can bring to each other. They have a bit of conflict late in the story that just about breaks my heart for both of them. And a bit later, there is some danger that just about stops my heart. The realization of love and the ending was a bit rushed, but for the most part, the rest of the book leading up to the end was really good. There was just a lot packed in at the last minute that disturbed the flow of the story.
Overall, I really enjoyed this. It was a very satisfying romantic read with a happy ending for all!
This is the second book that I have read by Iona Findley and the characters just keeps getting better (Each book can be read on its own). In Risking Hearts, it is a romance involving Hope and Jake. Hope has her own catering business and Jake is an airplane pilot. Hope receives a bid to cater at a airport where she meets, risk taking Jake. Jake is determined to win the heart of Hope, who tries to resist his deep-hearted charm. Hope has lost her parents in a plane crash and Hope was the only survivor. Understandably, I related with Hope's initial hesitancy to get involved with Jake. But through Jake's good hearted soul, he is able to help Hope with her inner struggles and at the same time, helps Jake right back. It is a love story by through love you can learn to take risks and live in the moment as Hope knows how life can change so suddenly.
Thank you to author, Iona Findley, for the opportunity to review another wonderful book. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
With Opening Hearts I was infatuated. After reading Risking Hearts I am totally in love. Hope wants to make a success of her catering business and she is giving that her all. Jake is a risk taker, an adrenaline junkie but after a close call he starts to reevaluate. His focus changes from high flying to hot pursuit when he meets Hope. Hope has issues with airplanes and Jake is a pilot. Now Jake is determined to show Hope that life is about taking chances. I loved Risking Hearts because Hope and Jake are forced to face their fears in order to become what each needs. Risking Hearts is a story about taking the biggest risk the leap into the unknown. That can apply to anything and anyone. Wow! Iona Findley and The Hero's Heart series are the bomb. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Great romance! Hope is trying to get her catering business off the ground. A new competitor opened shop 3 months after her and has been undercutting her job bids by just a little. When she is awarded a contract based on a sealed bid to cater for the local airports she signs with mixed emotions. Her parents died in an airplane crash a year earlier and she is struggling to go on. While she is setting up her location at one of the airports she meets Jake who is a pilot. Since she has decided she won't get involved with a pilot, she tries to put off his advances but can she or with she follow heart? I love this series. Each is a stand alone book. * I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I received a copy of this book for an honest review. Another great book by Iona Findley. I loved the story of Jake and Hope. The book showed how that at times we get so wrapped up in fear of losing a loved one that we forget to live and embrace life while we have the chance. Jake and Hope's romance was sweet and sensual. Lots of chemistry between them. They both really had a kind heart and were always watching out for other people. I loved all the supporting characters too. You get romance, mystery, kindness of people, and don't let fear rule our lives. A great book! I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I previously read the first book in this series and was happy to get the opportunity to read this one. Hope is alone, her parents died in a plane crash. She won't have anything to do with any Airplane people. Jake is a former smoke jumper who flys the airplane for the jumpers. Jake and Hope meet and they both feel the same sparks between them. Hope will not admit she feels it though. Jake will not give up on hope, he feels she is the one for him. Can he succeed in getting Hope to forget that he is a piolet? I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book opens with Hope, a caterer and airplane crash survivor, having a panic attack at the airport where one of her concession stands is opening. A plane is in trouble landing and it is implied it was Jake's plane. Jake who is a contract pilot but don't forget he is also a firefighter, is admittedly an adrenaline lover who is ready to find the woman of his dreams and start a family. What really works for this book is the chemistry between these characters. When they are together, no matter how much Hope wants to stop what is happening, there are sparks setting fire to everything between them. This was a great story!

Hope meets Jake at an airfield where she caters. Jake has just landed an airplane that has gotten into trouble and Hope is trying to get a cart pushed in the mud. Hope watched the plane come in having a flash back to when she her mother and father where in a plane crash only Hope survived. This was a very good book about two people falling in love with all their differences. I was not sure how it would go when Hope is caught in a mud slide. I want to read other books in this series now I was given this book for a honest review barwatts@telus.net
I received a copy from the author for an honest review. This is the second in Iona Tinsley's 'Hero's Hearts'. And just like Jess and Sam, Hope and Jake have a few hurdles to cross before the get their clear sky's. Her fear of airplanes is a major problems. But Jake has his own secrets that need to be brought to light. Love the stories about smoke jumpers. My father was a fireman when I was younger. And I remember several large fires where he worked for days if not weeks to save lives and property. Bless all of those do so for a living. Thank you Iona for theses stories also.
I really loved this book!! It took the love of a man for Hope to get over the tragic accident that took the life of her Parents, also with Jake he helped her get over her fear of flying. I was given this ARC for an honest review of this book!! Loved it!!
