A solid grasp of Christian doctrine is just as important for the youngest believers as it is for adults. Preschool and elementary school-age children will love learning about the most foundational teachings of the Christian faith in the Big Thoughts for Little Thinkers series. The Mission presents God's worldwide plan to call people from every nation to worship Him through Jesus Christ. God invites children to share His good news with a world of people who desperately need a Savior. Written in simple but precise language and on a level that small children can understand, the book teaches God-centered theology. Featuring charming illustrations, The Mission makes for a fun but educational read.

The Mission explains missions and spreading the gospel message for kids. When I think “Little Thinkers” I think of preschool to maybe 2nd grade, so more practical ideas for this age group such as inviting friends to church and Vacation Bible School might be more appropriate than sending an email. We cannot assume the parents or whoever is reading the book to the child is familiar with church or the Bible.
My biggest concern with this book is it refers to people in the Bible as “characters”. Do we refer to George Washington, Rosa Parks, and General Robert E. Lee as characters in history? No, they are people in history and we need to talk about the PEOPLE in the Bible just as legitimately.
I bought this book and this is my honest and unbiased review.
In this book you meet Mikey who tells you very clear explanations of God’s mission, how He is at work in the world. Invites children to join in the mission. Well-written and theologically careful. It’s at a level younger kids can understand. This is part of a great series for children ages 4-7. Highly recommended.
