Imagine what you would do if The Zombie Apocalypse, a long time favorite topic of authors in the Zombie genre, finally happened? Would you be prepared at all and have a chance to survive or would you be unprepared and quickly die or become a Zombie? This book is the first of three that I plan to write for this series. It tracks the travels of myself and 3 friends as we att ...more

Just finished up reading this one and I was kind of glad it wasn't really scary. I liked the different perspective that the author gave on how the zombie apocalypse began and the fact that the main character was a bit of a conspiracy theorist and one who was prepared for some major fallout to happen. If something major really did happen, this type of person would be the one ready for it. That's who you would want to find. The journey of this guy and his friends is filled with zombie hordes and a ...more

I was offered to beta read this book and was happy to do so. I love zombie books and I'm always looking for something different in the genre. What really got me the most was the characters. Very down to earth and realistic. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was all the political opinions. But it was noted to begin with by Hugh and I read this with open eyes and looked beyond this. The book is literally a trek; a trek of survival through the zombie apocalypse. It is well written and the quotes ...more

Loved this book by lawyer turned author, Hugh Williams. The story starts in southern Illinois where I am from and went to college and so I enjoyed the backdrop of the story. I am not one for zombies or anything scary so I was surprised at how much I enjoyed reading this book. The plot develops steadily and by the end of the book you have a good sense of the main characters personalities. This is an excellent first shot by a first time author. I am looking forward to reading the second book in th ...more

The Trek to Elysium is a fun and easy book to read that touches on important concepts in a troubling and sometimes confusing world. It is definitely worth reading and I am looking forward to Volume 2.

I enjoyed this book as it is a fun easy read and that it starts out in Southern Illinois where I spent time during university. This is not your average Zombie Apocalyptic story in that it is not only filled with splattered blood and guts mixed with zombie brains. I applaud the author, Hugh R. Williams for daring to bring in the issues of politics, conspiracies and corporations that is identifiable with the real world. It added another dimension to the story as well as required more thought. I wo ...more

Horrible, Horrible read. Being from the area that this books starts out in I was excited to get into this book. It was a very short lived excitement. There is very poor character development, if any. Very bad descriptive devices when explaining what's going on. Just, well just a bad, bad story. So sad as Southern Illinois is a great place to setup a very good zombie novel.

I have always wanted to write a book. I had made numerous attempts to write, but was never happy with the books. "The Trek to Elysium Chronicles" has been a major break through for me. As for me, I was 62 when I wrote Volume 1 of the 3 Volume Series. I do everything late in life. I got my BS from Illinois State at 44, my MS from Illinois State at 46, and my JD from Southern Illinois University at ...more
