Melissa Lawson is a great writer who does a wonderful job of incorporating real world aspects into her novel. The reader could seriously envision some of the lavish materialistic things Kyla, the main character, in the novel possesses. Initially, I had a hard time connecting to the fairy tale engagement between Vince and Kyla, simply because there was a third more alluring man in the picture named Sal. Two of Hearts is a very good read. As you follow the main character Kyla, you get to know many of the people who make her who she is. These characters help you to form a complete picture of the main character. Understanding her background helps when you are trying to comprehend her decisions. As a reader, I found myself wondering about her choices which kept me engaged in the book. Overall, the characters are good and the story will keep you wanting more. It is definitely worth the read.

DNF, this book needs a better editor. Action-wise, every detail of a character's movement was spelled out and it wasn't necessary.

Melissa Lawson is a native of Philadelphia. Her love of writing began as a teenager when she would write short stories and poems. Her love continued into adulthood when she had one of her poems, “Were You There”, published while in college at North Carolina Central University, when she was truly inspired to write about her experience at the “Million Woman March” in 1998. Her debut novel, “Two of ...more
