Enjoyable follow up to the first book. For me this is good holiday reading. Characters are decent and the story line is good. I'll read another! ...more

Absolutely Brilliant

Anyone who perused my review of Ms. Krier's first DI Darling book, "Baby's Got Blue Eyes", need only allow me a reiteration. Krier is masterful. Vivid characters, exciting cases, delightful prose and a real gift for storytelling. I adore her work, and I am trembling with anticipation at reading the next result of her singular gifts. She is quite simply As Good As It Gets. I feel in such capable hands when reading her books, that I just let it all overtake me, like I'm receivi

Crime fiction fanatics - there's a new crime writer on the block and a new detective series to follow!

L M Krier is an experienced writer, former journalist and copy editor with a series of successful books about her move and life in France.

This is the second book in the DI Ted Darling series and although I enjoyed the first book, I liked this one even better. Once more we have the endearing cop with a warm heart and martial arts skills, who follows procedure and actually gets on with his superio

I actually read this in two sittings as I didn’t want to put it down. It’s another winner from L.M.Krier . She tackles the disturbing topic of grooming and paedophilia very cleverly as there is no gratuitous or graphic descriptions of violence but nevertheless the reader can picture exactly what has occurred. Another, and very topical, strand is that such abuse can reach to the top levels of society and is frequently known about and covered up. A young boy goes missing and his body is discovered ...more

Great read.

After reading book 1 I was completely hooked. DI Darling has got to be my favourite day festive charchter of all time. The author has put together a cast of charachters that are relatable and likeable, mixed in with clever and fast paced plot lines, this series has great potential.

Book 1 totally blew me away and got 5 stars. Book 2 has not changed my opinion and I am still hooked, but its 4 stars and not 5, simply because the first book was a hard act to follow and although I still en

L M Krier has done it again, i have got to say this series is just getting better. And i am giving this a massive 5 well deserved stars.

This is the second book in the DI Ted Darling series were we see Ted and Tev's relationship develop and get to know more about them especially with this crime subject showing you Ted's unpleasant childhood experience. We are introduced to a new character nicknamed the ice queen. This name did make me giggle.

I read this in one sitting, i just couldn't put it down

I'll have to settle for 5 stars

It is rare for me to like a sequel more than the first book in the series but Two Little Boys did just that. While the characters were well rounded in the first book they took on characteristics of long known friends and colleagues in this volume. The plot never stops but it is much more than a collection of events. It flows like the well written story it is. I will anxiously await the next installment in the DI Darling series. I love that the author uses a lot of

Not a genre I often read but it kept me turning the pages! Whilst I couldn't describe the book as "unputdownable" it certainly made me read it to the very end and it was a most unexpected ending at that.

If you like something different in detective stories, I would rate this. The main character was strong but flawed which made him very interesting and the topic under investigation was not an easy one to read about but the author has been careful to deal with it sympathetically.

Two Little Boys.
Well this series just gets better and better. The DI Darling team are faced with trying to break a peadophile
ring with high dignitaries involved. Ted Darling is at the fore again, he also has issues in his personal life to sort out.
I really enjoyed this book as I'm sure you will to.

Fantastic read. The second one I've read and doesn't disappoint. Ted has a new boss, the Ice Queen who makes him wear a suit and tie and very different from the old Jim Baker days. A young boy is brutally murdered and sparks an enquiry into a high level paedophile ring with members in very high places. Once again it's a realistic well crafted plot and extremely believable. The author clearly does her research to make sure everything is as spot on as possible. That is what is so likeable about th ...more

WOW! This was such a difficult subject. But was very well written. The reader learns more about Ted Darling and his team. The character doesn't come off as perfect and more layers are exposed. The relationship between Ted and Trav are explored.

It was more a procedural than a mystery.
And was a satisfying read.

A new character is introduced and she is awesome.

I read this a few weeks ago now, but I had no internet to be able to write a review, so I've forgotten a few details by now. However, it was a thoroughly gripping read and although it was disturbing in its subject matter, LM Krier does not go into unnecessary gruesome detail, so I found I could cope with it. It deals with homosexual paedophilia and its unsavoury connection to power and wealth, so it is an important topic we should all be aware of. DI Darling is a very likeable character and his ...more

This is the second book in the DI Darling mystery series. In this book we find DI Darling saying goodbye to his old boss/ friend Jim Baker and welcoming by the book new boss that everyone refers to as the Ice Queen aka Superintendent Caldwell. What's worse is the Ice Queen would like Ted to have a more professional appearance. Ted is none to happy about wearing a suit and tie, but Trev ( his loving partner) is ready to send the new boss a thank you note. If that weren't bad enough Ted and his te ...more

I am a newcomer to the Ted Darling books and I wasn't sure I could adopt yet another crime series. The author has the uncanny ability to combine finely drawn characters, carefully researched crime evidence and plot twists you simply don't see coming. Pedophilia is a desperately difficult subject to address in any medium, but approaching the subject as fiction can be fraught and is often simply avoided by many writers.

L M Krier not only tackles the subject matter with empathy and objectivity, she

Scandalous Child Abuse

I usually read books in a 2 day block of time but this was such a dark and disturbing book about child abuse and death that I frequently had to take a break. It took me a week to get through it. It was a great book that brings to the fore front the abuse of children and their abusers mind set that it is the child's fault or it is not a crime at all. Ted has a dark secret and nightmares, Trev has to leave him, new boss is an Ice Queen. Who will go down for these crimes. Some

I read the first book in this series (Baby's Got Blue Eyes) and loved it, The trouble with a good book, is sometimes the follow-up is a let down. I wondered if the author could keep the pace. I am pleased to say that she did, every chapter I read left me craving another. And the ending, well that was so cleverly done, it leaves the reader wanting more. She is certainly on a roll with these books, can't wait for the next one.

Excellent book - I picked up the first Ted Darling book on a "cheapie" deal and was impressed enough to buy this one.
Very tight writing and a relatively unusual main character.
I'm not going to spoil anything for anyone but, if you like crime fiction, you should enjoy this author. I shall definitely be seeking out more

As with the previous story, I found this one a little annoying, as it kept me glued to my kindle when I should have been sleeping. I now have to buy the next one in the series. I'm becoming rather fond of "The Ice Queen".

Another splendid book from L M Krier in the Ted Darling series. Ted and his team have to deal The the most unpleasant of cases, a paedophile rime ring on their doorstep. A young homeless boy is killed and he has been assaulted in the most brutal way possible. It soon becomes clear the team are up against it when it becomes apparent “people “ from up high are involved. Ted, his team and his new Super, The Ice Queen are determined to crack the case no matter who is involved. As the case progresses ...more

LM Krier introduces a new character, Superintendent Deborah Caldwell, who is Ted Darling’s boss and replaces his former “Super” and friend Jim Baker. The development of their relationship in the midst of a difficult case is one of many highlights of this entry in the Darling series. Ted struggles with an incident from his childhood that relates to the case, and it has an effect on his personal life. LM Krier handles all of this brilliantly, and each character adds something meaningful to the plo ...more
