Summary:
This book is about going to the doctor and getting X-rays done from a child’s perspective. It is fiction but it explains why x-rays are sometimes needed and why you should not be afraid of doctors.

Evaluation:
This book is a 2011 Kids Are Authors Award recipient. It is published by scholastic. It has beautiful painted illustrations and uses science based medical terminology throughout the book when describing the x-ray process.

Teaching idea:
This would be a great book to read to second grade students when learning about bones and the human anatomy. This book goes into detail about how x-rays work and why we need them. I would use this book if I was teaching a science lesson about bones.

When students need a funny story with informational qualities, grab this book! The littler ones will love it, especially for the funny stories that each patient has (for why they need an x-ray). The older kiddos would be able to look at the science behind this story, possibly leading to some good discussions on bones in the body.
