Probably better than my three-star rating suggests, but has a heavy emphasis on more expensive dining and lodging options. This would make it fantastic for someone looking for that sort of trip, but limits its usefulness for my purposes. Lots of great information regardless, which is helpful in coming up with ideas for plans to make especially when combined with other resources. Despite being a relatively new book, it is already slightly outdated in some regards--which, unfortunately, is unavoidable for publications like this.
Normally guide books don't really warrant reviewing, but this is the most thorough and well planned guide book I have ever encountered. It was thorough to the point of giving me more information about the chef at the B&B I stayed at than the owner did in person, and I learned something new about the country store owned by my friends parents that I never knew. Wow! They did their research, and it really shows! Excellent work!
Clear layouts of each section of Maine. We are going to Bar Harbor and Ogunquit in September. A daily agenda or some kind of daily guide would be helpful. Also, they talk about the places and the various lighthouses as if we are familiar with their names and locations and distances. We are not. The book is organized but what one can do in one day or so is not clearly defined.
