I have posted this review on www.ReaderToReader.com and a longer one on www.NewYorkJournalofBooks.com. A totally delightful read!

Once again we are invited into the escapades of Hurilhy family in the fictitious seacoast town of Marshbury, Massachusetts. Bayberry Preschool teacher, Sarah is about to embark upon a new endeavor with her lover John Anderson and his beloved pooch, Horatio. They are taking their relationship further by looking to buy a house to share, though they cannot decide on the p

This series is delightful, funny, and thought provoking on many levels. Sarah Hurlihy and her rowdy clan are in top form, and right when I thought I knew what would happen next, Claire Cook threw several perfectly timed curveballs into the story. Themes of family drama, career chaos, and the uncertainties that arise in love are woven together as Sarah takes the next big step in her topsy-turvy life. What I particularly enjoyed were the explorations of Sarah’s deepest desires and fears, and how t ...more

Beach reading has officially begun! The best way to start is with Claire Cook's "Must Love Dogs: Bark & Roll Forever". In this fourth installment we continue to follow the adventures and misadventures of the Hurlihy family. In this edition the emphasis is on the life and love of Sarah. We follow her love life with John and his canine companion Horatio, her family adventures (both current and ex) and antics at the preschool where she teaches. I find the characters endearing and their situatio ...more

I loved this book. I laughed 30 seconds after I started reading. It was so good to be back with Sarah and her family.
If you have read the series, it is like reconnecting with your good friend. If not, jump in here. It is great on its own.
But you will want to go back and read all the series, I am sure. Claire has a gift to make us laugh at life's
moments of absurdity, and then tear up at the curves life will throw at us. It is so fun to be reminded of things
you forgot about, too. Like a mechanica

Claire Cook has done it again. Must Love Dogs 4 - Bark and Roll Forever is another fun visit with the irrepressible Sarah Hurilhy and her family. Sarah is such a wonderful main character, with all of her quirks and personality flaws, she is so likable and real. In this book Sarah and John have made plans to move in together, but the challenge is finding the right place, and they are quietly trying to have a baby together. As they begin their search, Sarah's ex-husband's new wife manages to push ...more

Okay. Honesty time. I love the series. From book one to this one...it is a great read and I really not only have enjoyed all the characters, I have very much bought into where Claire takes us in this journey with them. This particular book, I had to read in spurts as I started the book while traveling to my Mother's house to assist her. The stress filled days ended with me curling up and reading this latest in Claire Cook's Must Love Dog series... Bark & Roll Forever. It made me laugh almost ...more

This might be the fourth book in the series, but it certainly hasn’t lost its ability to delight and entertain. I found myself shaking my head in acknowledgement of the familiar antics of this outspoken family, and even caught myself chuckling many times. Clair Cook manages to give this story a nice fresh coat that keeps the reader interested and involved in the real world issues of Sarah, John and their family and friends. Sometimes thought provoking, at other times hilarious, Must Love Dogs Ba ...more

The quirky, loveable Hurlihy family is back with more antics and adventures. Sarah has her hands full once again with certain family members, as well as those outside the Hurlihy circle. Ms. Cook has brought these charming characters to life in the most entertaining style all the way to “the end”. This reader would have loved to continue spending more time with the Hurlihy clan. But, no worries, there is more to come in this truly wonderful “Must Love Dogs” series.

3 1/2 stars. Always enjoyable to catch up with these characters. Cute story with funny dialog and interactions. Not as predictable as I thought it would be. I will definitely continue with the story.

The fun continues!

Sarah and John make great strides in their relationship. Deciding to get married, they work on renting out John's condo in the city and sell Sarah's house and buy one for the two of them and Horatio, the dog. There are many twists and turns including having to deal with her wasband and his kookie wife and twins. Well worth the read.

When it comes to Claire Cook’s books, I have this tendency to shut out the rest of the world from the minute I start page one, and I’m pretty much unable to do anything but read, read, read until I finish the last word. The voice, the characters and the plot are so engaging that no matter what time it is, I find myself saying, “one more chapter”—and then one more after that, and one more after that. Her latest, Must Love Dogs: Bark and Roll Forever, is no exception. I devoured it, and now I’m cr ...more

Claire Cook delivers a witty, honest, and just utterly enjoyable book in
her fourth installment of the Must Love Dogs series!

Book Review

I have said this once, and I will say it again. I absolutely love Claire Cook’s Must Love Dog series. Each time I open a book, new or old, it is as if I am going to my happy place. The Hurlihy family has become my adopted fictional family. I love their craziness and humor, but more importantly I love the honesty in which the author portrays this family and its members.

Must Love Dogs: Bark & Roll Forever was delightful. I love the tenderness of the characters and the in your lives all the time family members, flaws and all. Claire Cook obviously has a great sense of humor as it comes through in her writing. I read book one in the series and, due to the fact that an advertisement stated you didn't have to read them in order for continuity, I jumped into this one. I was a bit unhappy with my decision to purchase and read book four instead of moving on to boo ...more

Very rarely when reading a book can I find that true connection with the main character. In every book Claire writes, I feel that the main character becomes a mirror image in one situation or another. That is no different than with Sara Hurlihy and her life. Each book in the Must Love Dogs series has an A-Ha moment where you truly connect with Sara and her life. Her wit and sarcasm truly remind me of myself. Sarah’s dad is always bringing in the comic relief with his quirky career ventures and d ...more

The Hurlihys just might be my all-time favorite fictional family. Bark and Roll Forever is the fourth in the "Must Love Dogs" series, and it is just as fresh and funny as the first book, maybe even more so. The book's plot centers around Sarah and John's house-hunting adventures, with Sarah's ex-husband's second wife serving as their realtor. The characters are seasoned, but haven't ventured into that dangerous realm where popular characters sometimes become silly stereotypes of themselves. Fami ...more

This book, like her others, is a delight. This one, however, took more twists and turns, so I ended up binge-reading it. I'm really looking forward to the next installment.

I wrote my first novel in my minivan at 45. At 50, I walked the red carpet at the Hollywood premiere of the adaptation of my second novel, Must Love Dogs, starring Diane Lane and John Cusack. I'm now the New York Times, USA Today, and international bestselling author of 18 books. If you have a buried dream, take it from me, it is NEVER too late!

I've reinvented myself once again by turning Must Lov
