German publisher Karl Baedeker (1801-1859) established a series of guidebooks in 1835. His son, Karl Baedeker (1837-1911) continued to publish the namesake guidebooks to countries. Eventually the firm and its name were bought by MairDumont, which publish the famous Baedeker travel guides today.

Das war wohl einer der einzigen Reiseführer, den ich echt gerne gelesen habe. Ist gut geschrieben, luftiges Design, viele Fotos. Enthält die wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten und beschreibt die wichtigsten genauer. Hintergrundinfos zur Stadt und Geschichte etc. hats nicht viele drin.

This book comes with everything you would expect from a Baedeker travel guide: culture culture culture. A good handbook for preparing the trip and for carrying around while travelling.
