Fortress Malcor falls to the Hasian invaders. Lord Jihan retreats to Waldenvale, and Julia leads the remnants of the clans to ally with him. Despite Julias magic, despite the awesome fighting skills of the clan warriors, Jihan fears his defeat is inevitable.
Mark E. Cooper lives alone in a small town in the south of England, where he writes most mornings and evenings. His background is in mechanical engineering where he spent over thirty years working for Ford. He loves reading about strong female characters and can often be found laughing to himself as he listens to a book on his iPod.

He is now the author of more than eight titles in the genres he loves to read.
I should have stopped after the first book, "The God's Decree." But I felt "invested" I suppose. I doubt I'll get a 5th book, invested or not.
I'm sick of the contrived situations in this book. And the ending was ludicrous. Her are some examples:
The Evil Empire manages to go where it wants undetected, along nearby rivers, behind enemy lines, clear the enemy's countryside to take their strongest fortress without a fight. Hmm...
The author makes it known the Devans know Navarien is using pontoon bridges (not using the word pontoon, mind you), and defeated a battalion, but the. apparently doesn't guard the river afterward. Huh...?
The Devans use supply caches and make it know to the reader they will be heavily defended, but then General Navarien tells the reader he found UNDEFENDED supply depots. Huh...?
And, perhaps the most ridiculous thing is at the very end, when Lady Jessica has the ability to co tact Julia through the magical mirror, letting all Deva k ow Fortress Althione is fallen, does she contact Julia? The King? ANYONE? No, she throws the mirror in the cistern. Come on...
The whole book is one contrivance after another. Surprises are fine, even a Deus ex Machina would be okay once in a series, but impossibilities and contradictions are more than annoying, they're poor writing.
Take my advice, stop after book 1.

Are you kidding me? Another unresolved book with only a 'outline' for the 5th in how many years! Book one was interesting 2 &3 were tedious and boring but I'd thought he'd resolve all the issues in the last. I feel ripped off. I want my money back.

Where is the finish? Book one I could not stop reading, two and three were ok but I went for book four to see how it ends. Book four was very confusing and ends ridiculously. It says there will be book five, but it's been ten years!!!
Can't wait for the Fifth Book. "DESTINY PAWN" For the first time in it's eleven hundred year history, Athione had fallen to the enemy and without a fight. Protectorate and fortress of the North is fallen.
The story is good with well developed characters. I bought it as a set of four and was shocked to discover that the story is not complete The author says there is not enough reader interest for him to write the last book. SUCH A SHAME.
This is a fantasy book with young woman, Julia, from our modern day world who is transported into an alternate world where there be magic. She finds that she is a witch or female wizard in a world where women do not have the gift. This is a book with a Strong Heroine. As we move through the series we discover Julia's powers as she discovers her powers and potential. I have enjoyed this series an would love to see the next book in the series.
