Bachelors in Demand #2

Bachelor Unleashed

Rate this book
They had a hot, fleeting affair Farrah Langley has never forgotten. Attorney-to-the-rich-and-famous Xavier Kane was tender, sexy, attentive--and "ravished" her body. Everything she ever wanted in a lover. Getting together with him again in New York is a fantasy come true. She certainly doesn't expect the footloose bachelor to change his ways. And the burned-by-love mediator isn't looking for forever.

But Xavier is.

There's something about Farrah...something that touches him deep in his soul...something that keeps him coming back. So when fate brings them together again, Xavier's ready to pick up where they left off. But this time around, he wants more. Can he convince the lean, leggy beauty that he's finished playing the field? That he wants only one woman in his bed, in his arms--in his heart?

First time reading a kimani romance from harlequin and while I enjoyed the heat of it, I felt this one lacked in emotional development. Things happened a bit too quickly for my liking and I did not like how our hero flirted with everyone for the first part of the chapter to the point that it was slimy and then flipped the switch and knew he was in love with his friends with benefits.

This is the love journey of Farah and Xavier. This is the story of two people who were each other's booty call. And both were happy with that situation. Until it became too hot and heavy for Farah. She started catching feelings for Xavier and due to her last relationship with her husband and his cheating she pulled up stakes and got out of there. However Xavier nor Farah forgot each other. Six months later they bump into each other in New York City during the Christmas holiday. Xavier realize he was in love with Sarah however Sarah was a little bit slow on the uptake... but it all worked out in the end. Definitely five stars good read. Another batch of a down. Lol

Loved it! Re-read it-today so good!!! Xavier Kane and Farrah Langley have both been burned by love. So a no-strings affair is all that they want until Farrah starts falling for Xavier and ends the relationship. She is deathly afraid of getting hurt again. 6 months later they run into each other in New York and Xavier realizes he not only loves Farrah, he wants to marry her. Will Farrah's answer be yes or no way? Great story!

2/20/2022 - 3rd reread and it is still delicious! Love this book!!!!

:| I might come back to this but ... I just don't like the narrator - her voice; she sounds like she has a stuffy nose and I find it so incredibly distracting >.<

The premise seems so good though, and it's one of the Brenda Jackson audiobooks Hoopla will actually show me ... and I only get 20 borrows a month ... :\

Never have I been so misled by Goodreads ratings. If a man treated me like the hero treats the heroine here, red flags would be flapping violently. Manipulative, he weaponizes sex in an effort to crash through her clearly defined boundaries. And it’s all couched in the language of romance and passion. Books like this perpetuate a culture of non-consent, paternalistic attitudes of “man knows best” and male sexual predation. Not only that, it’s thin on plot and the sex scenes were boring. Read Jasmine Guillory. She’s formulaic but it’s a cute formula and she’s got way more imagination than Ms Jackson shows in this novel.

Love affair between two strong people

I am a fan of Brenda Jackson and I am on the lookout for any book she writes. It seems I missed the bachelor in demand series that appears to have crossover characters from both the Steele and Westmoreland series. I would recommend reading those series before embarking on reading this series. It can be read as a standalone if you don't want to go back a decade or more of novel reading to get to understand some of the other characters that show up in this book.

This was pretty typical Harlequin and Brenda Jackson and normal would be a *3.5 STAR* read for me, but the narrators pacing was off so it was hard for me to get into.

I was annoyed by Farrah more than a few times because if she said that her husband hurt her and she'd never trust a man again, I would just scream.

I was happy that they were able to work everything out together, even when their conflict was over in a blink.

I think I will consider reading other books in this series at some point. Especially when I want a nice easy romance.

More 3.5 stars. When a short term fling turns into almost a year of booty calls, Farrah starts to have feelings she refuses to acknowledge. Thanks to a no good cheating ex, she’s sworn off all long term relationships. Unfortunately for her, she can’t get him out of her mind. On NY for business, she literally bumps into Xavier as he’s leaving the wine store. Can they be friends. Maybe resume their no strings fling for the holidays? When he decides he wants more, how far is he willing to go to prove his love?

Jaded lovers who don’t believe in love… until they do

Farrah Langley and Xavier Kane have become lovers and that’s all. He shows up at her place with wine and they get busy. Until she decides to end their relationship because she is afraid of developing feelings.

I love a good romance where he falls first, or at least admits it first. and then he proceeds to show his woman how they really do belong together.

In this romance, they both have past betrayals that have jaded their stance on romance, but true romance always wins.

I'm not against sexy times in books but that seemed to be all that there was between the H and h. They started off as a booty call and when h realized it was potentially heading toward more of a "feelings" zone she cut their arrangement off. They bump into each other months later, H wants to re-engage and make it something more but h is not having it, and basically is feeling that way up until the last chapter so nope I'm not buying that this was a love match.

Love both of these leads, and particulary appreciated that though the hero is clearly someone who has been around, he's not some jerky dog who treats women badly. Also, both H and h are confident, successful, smart, and go after what they want, and have reasons for not wanting anything serious. All in all, believable and likable.

One Long Love Scene

Farrah and Xavier's story truly was one, very long, love scene. Although the collateral elements of the plot surfaced from time to time, the book invariably shifted to its central focus--the protagonists' sexcapades. The story WAS an enjoyable read; however, I hope that the next installment in this series delves into deeper aspects of the couple's lives.

Enjoyed!

Fiya , 🔥🔥is all I can say after reading this book. The author entertained me again with her romantic writing. Xavier and Darren are a good match. I enjoyed Farrah's character at her profession of mediator. I am enjoying, "Bachelor in Demand" series. I enjoy the "Steele" series connection.

Farrah and Xavier were lovers who weren't supposed to get attached. When she felt things were getting too serious, she broke things off. He tried to respect her wishes but when they bumped into each other he knew he couldn't let her go.
I enjoyed watching him do the work to convince her that she wanted and loved him as much as he wanted and loved her.
This was a really good read.

Bachelor Unleashed

I chose 5 stars because X and Farah were fantastic together. They made the book a hot and heavy page Turner. I loved the way the X wooed her to get her to become his. It was good revisiting Cam Cody, and Donovan and Natalie Steele again.

From Unleashed to Undying Love

The second book of the Bachelors in Demand series begins with a hot and heavy sex scene that had me squirming in my bed. It ends with...well, you'll just have to read it to find out!!

It was ok, was an easy read no major drama and the conflict at end was handled like adults. I did like that both were celibate for 6 month separation. Np.
