Little History #2

The Highlander's Little Lass

Rate this book
As the daughter of a powerful highland laird, Glynis McLeod should have made a fine wife for any Scotsman. Having been deprived of discipline by her mother’s untimely passing, however, Glynis grew up wild and unchecked. As a lass of twenty, she has precious little respect for any man, let alone a husband her father might choose for her.

But even a doting father must obey his king, and when the king demands a marriage to ensure lasting peace between rival clans, Glynis finds herself the very reluctant bride of Bran McKinnon. Known as Bran the Bull—both for his size and his fearsome sexual appetites—he is a man accustomed to being obeyed, a fact which is quickly impressed upon Glynis when her lack of decorum earns her a bare-bottom spanking from her future husband in the great hall of her father’s castle.

As soon as Bran lays eyes on Glynis, he knows the fiery redhead is exactly what he's been seeking: a woman who needs both the firm hand of a father figure and the dominant lovemaking of a husband. With the help of her childhood nanny, Bran sets about training his feisty highland lass to be the obedient wife he expects. Blushing cheeks and a sore bottom quickly help Glynis become the good little girl her husband desires, but when danger threatens the king's peace, will Bran recognize in time that there's more to his young bride than meets the eye?

Publisher’s Note: The Highlander’s Little Lass is an erotic romance novel that includes spankings, sexual scenes, extensive age play, anal play, and more. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

Ava Sinclair is a best-selling Amazon romance author who caters to readers who appreciate a plot driven book where the steamy sex complements the story, rather than overshadowing it.

A hopeless bibliophile, Ava avidly reads across multiple genres, and this is reflected in her varied body of work that spans contemporary, medieval fantasy, western, historical, time travel and sci-fi. She especially enjoys world-building and crafting interesting and relatable characters.

Because her books feature graphic sex and elements of power exchange, she gently cautions her readers to take her work for what it is – delightful, sexy escapism.

Ava lives in southern Virginia in a farmhouse tucked away on a wooded hilltop. The first thing she did after moving in was to rip out the dining room and turn it into a library/office. This is where she spends most of her days, writing and being ignored by her cats. When she’s not working, she enjoys roaming the woods around her house, or seeking the advice of Lucius, her Eagle Owl.

All I wanted was some dirty Highlander talk but got a weird age gap play between the fmc & her nanny.

I’m all for age play when it’s done right and I enjoyed both main characters in this story. BUT the nanny was super annoying and made the age play weird. Typically all other characters are auxiliary and while part of the story they don’t really interfere with the relationship between the main characters. The old nanny in this one was salivating at the mouth on page 1 at the prospect of hitting the fmc. Her constant presence and weird behavior detracted from the storyline that had great potential.

age play
dirty highlander talk
spanking
enemas (the old bitty was so insistent on these 🤢)

I really enjoyed The Highlander's Lass.....if you're like me and can read very fast, this is a perfect book to sit down for an half an hour or so and be entertained. My only problem is that I wish it had been longer!

SPOILERS!

So, to bare bones--the story, an arranged marriage between two rival clans is interesting (one of my favorite set ups in the historical romance genre), and my favorite part was that the story started off with the man's point of view. Being that this is a female oriented genre, I thought this was a nice touch--showing his thoughts and fears about his upcoming marriage, only to have it all dashed when he meets Glynnis. I also love the heroine, the quintessential "brat" who just needs a......firm hand.

Bran the Bull and Glynnis are soon married (after a very public spanking), and Bran is happy to be married, as he has finally found the type of woman he's always wanted. Glynnis is less so yet happy at the same time, as she's now more disciplined--by her husband and nanny--after being allowed to run wild after her mother's untimely death after her birth. The balance between her not wanting discipline and craving it is a fine tune.........

As for the story, I really enjoyed the set up of the two clans that hate each other, don't trust each other....and then introducing the traitor within Bran's own clan. I thought it was an interesting contrast to highlight how Bran "diminishes" Glynnis to being his child-wife, and blurs the lines between their bedroom activity (age play) and their public life, as Lord and Lady--especially when she told him that she'd overheard one of his most trusted, plotting against him.

One thing I really, really, REALLY like was the part where Glynnis said she didn't want children. I think that was really well written, and something that is true and viable in that time (even if women had to push out babies anyway). But I like that Bran also acknowledged that, along with his previous desire not to have children. I just thought it was an interesting twist, completely obvious, but not.

I thought I would like this book turns out I didnt like it at all. It wasnt the sex that turned me off from the book. I was the type of relationship Bran and Glynis have. I realize that every relationship has some differences and that some people have...fedishes. But this type of relationship pust put me ill at ease. *spoilers*
My issues with the relationship is that Bran seems to want a child that he can sleep with. Not an adult woman. A seragot father he is called a few times. She is given a nanny to clothe and bathe her and correct anything she does that they feel is not right, like a child. Until night falls when he has his way with her. not my kind of read.

I enjoyed this short story. I would have liked to have seen more interaction between Bran and Glynis outside the bedchamber but it is only 90 pages and the author did a great job of telling a good story in that amount of time. Most of the focus is on Glynis with little on Bran but a laird is often a busy man with little time for niceties. I loved to see how Glynis learned to control herself and not let her mouth or her actions cause any strife among the clans. I did feel that Bran wasn't justified in giving one of his punishments and that it makes him Bran the Bull(headed). Overall, it is an entertaining 1-2 hour read.

In reading some of the negative reviews for this book, I wanted to add the warning that this is an AGE PLAY story (as stated at the end of the blurb and though diapers are mentioned they are not used) and if you are not comfortable with age play - you will not enjoy with book.

Short, kind of instant love, age-play story. The age play didn't bother me, in fact it was much less than I had read in other stories. The smexy scenes were good, although I could have done without the nanny also giving her punishment. What I didn't like was that the heroine was treated as if she couldn't have a thought in her head. Considering she wished "to always be yer wee Glynis, except for those times when I need to be heard as an adult” and he specifically noted this, it was even more annoying when he wanted to punish her later. Thankfully he did apologize.

A Steamy Scottish Highland Story. The Highlander's Little Lass is the story of a King’s decree that warring tribes make peace through the marriage between Bran of the McKinnon clan and Glynis the youngest daughter of the head of the McLeod clan. The upshot is the story set in in Scotland and once this reader settled into the language and culture of the times it becomes evident that Bran is a Daddy Dom and Glynnis is to become his submissive little. Kudos to Ava Sinclair writer of this rough yet sweet and steamy romance.

The Bairn

Peace between two rivals Highlanders is to be brokered by one Laird marrying the other Laird daughter. The daughter, all of 5foot nothing said NO, to her father in front of all the men. So the Laird gave her a hiding in front of them all. Introducing submission to her.

Glynis and Bran have a quick and steamy story. Glynis is a brat and there is no denying it. She definitely learns that Bran doesn't play around. Bran did have to grow on me a bit.

This is the first Highlander Romance I have read ever. I typically don't go for historical romance but the cover drew me in and I knew I had to read this. I recently discovered Ava Sinclair and fell in love.

Glynis Mcleod has been offered up for marriage as a part of a peace treaty between rivaling clans. Her sassy attitude makes her a spitfire from the beginning but Bryan McKinnon is up for the challenge. Leading an unsatisfying life of bedding women, he longs for the woman that will sate his desires.

Glynis is challenging from the beginning of their relationship but molds into a beautiful little wife. Bryan has found himself in his wife. Together they mold into the perfect blend of age play, spanking, and of course romance.

When I started this I wasn't sure how Sinclair was going to incorporate age play into the time period. I loved that Glynis was learning along the way and didn't know everything about a man and sex. Sinclair thoroughly did her research and scored a home run with The Highlander's Little Lass.

McLeod and McKinnon

The king wanted peace and there is one way to ensure it, and that is to married the Laird to the daughter of the other clan's laird. So regardless of their feelings on the matter, that is what happened.
Brian marries the willful Glynis and sets out to fix their problem between clans and between themselves by treating Glynis as he sees her and as he has always dreamed of doing-- having a child and a bride in one.
The age play was a main theme but not much even though there were mentions of things that never came to pass.
The skelping/spanking was well done and done often enough to be satisfying. Not harsh.
The only thing missing was the more than superficial connection with the characters. I felt that if there was a bit more time spent humanizing them more, it would have been an opportunity to connect better.
Overall, a good story a before bed read.

Erotic and thought provoking

I bought this book as the preview intrigued me and was engaged from the first page. I liked the story and enjoyed the erotic scenes, however I felt like there was something missing. I get Bram's compulsions and appetite, but Glynis' was not well articulated. The end also seems like it was unfinished (spoiler alert!) as I didn't get the impression that she was happy continuing with the way things were forever. I would have liked a little more depth of emotions and more insight into her thoughts.

Another wonderful AP story from Ava Sinclair! The best of both worlds, Scottish Highlanders and AP, so how could you not enjoy?! There is a great story here with danger, suspense, betrayal, romance and love and it's written very well. Kept me turning the pages until the very end! I loved Bran and Glynis together, the AP wasn't harsh, and their love and chemistry jumped off the page at you! Nicely done! I received this book from Stormy Night Publications as an Advanced Reader Copy.

Glynis McLeod didn't want anything to do about being given to a laird. When the king demands it, her bratiness shows and she learns what happens with a red bottom. Bran McKinnon, the bull, is not a man to be messed with. Glynis learns that Bran will tan her hid and he does, right in front of her father. You have to admit she was a brat and needed to be taken in hand. But Bran isn't that bad. He sees her as the perfect sub and his little. The story may be short but it is a good read.

Bonnie Wee Lass

I know this a Scottish Historical setting but the first chapter should not be the H bedding another woman. I hate that in books. Otherwise it was an ok story. I know the h was a childish brat from her upbringing but it really burned me that she was constantly treated as a child and not listened to when it was important.

From start to finish, this was so much fun. Glynis is a little firecracker who is perfect for the big Bran. They have amazing chemistry which made everything very hot. I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would. I will definitely be reading more from this author.
