“Leaving the hospital meant that it was time to face the real world, the one where my best friend killed people in the bathroom.”

This was a YA mystery story, with a bit of a different twist to it!

Claire had a bit of a rough time in this book, not only did she have problems having lost her best friend, but things just got bad, and

I didn't love any of the characters in this.

This started out okay, although after a bit I did start losing interest slightly. There wasn't really anything wrong with it though, I just couldn't get into the action much, so it felt a bit slow for me.

Overall, An okay read.

Romance, suspense, twists, murder, and a whole lot of European history mixed all together to make this book a great YA story. I am reviewing the audiobook. I really enjoyed this narrator and found that she made the story flow nicely without sounding like she was reading the book. The author keeps the story moving at a steady pace, with twists and turns off events that I wasn't expecting.

Poor Claire, she is has had a rough time through this story, meeting a great best friend in Olena, only to hav

This book is full of it all. I loved how things are only learnt as Claire did. The romance wasnt that over the top and made sense.
Claire and Olena are best friends one day Olena leaves suddenly leaving claire with just a birthday present and questions. Years later Olena returns and turns Claires life upside down.

I was provided this book in exchange for an honest review

Let me start out by saying that I don't particularly care for books related to history, I usually prefer my books to be 100% fictitious. This book is lightly based off the events of Chernobyl, which you don't realize until you get about half way through the book. This didn't bother me though, I really enjoyed Dana's interpretation of the events of Chernobyl. You can tell she really did her research for this book which added to why I enjoye

(I received a copy of this book early in exchange for my honest review)

When I read the description of this book, I knew immediately that I had to read it. Honestly, I am very glad that I did. When I started to read the book it turned out that my predictions regarding the story line were completely wrong and I am glad that they were. I was expecting a "boyfriend hates my best friend" dilemma YA sob story book. I was happy that I was wrong and the book was a lo

Locket Full of Secrets from Dana Burkey is a well-constructed suspense, adventure, thriller that sees three people crossing the planet to solve a riddle from the past; the reasons behind the meltdown at the Chernobyl Nuclear plant in the Ukraine.

Claire, Olena and Steven embark on a mission that will see them shot at, wounded and in constant peril, both in the U.S. and later in the Ukraine as they seek to recover evidence of what really happened at Chernobyl.

The story is incredibly fast-paced a

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. It has mystery romance, and reliability (to some extent). I relate to Claire in the beginning (I also don't have any friends and am emotional too). I liked Claire, Olena was a little too stiff for me. Never showing emotions has got to be hard to do, but she to me just didn't seem genuine in caring about Claire to me. I felt like she just wanted to use her. I saw a few erro

Happy 4th of July, and happy book release day! I am happy to announce that Locket Full of Secret is now live on Amazon Kindle!

This book is 3 years in the making, inspired by my love of European History as well as a friend from middle school I have never seen since the day we left 8th grade. I wrote the book during NaNoWriMo this year, and after edits and re-writes, as well as some great help from my older sister "Red" Dawn, I give you Locket Full of Secrets!

A thrilling book that anyone would enjoy reading! The author let me read this book for an honest review, and I have to say I enjoyed it immensely. This book captures your attention right from the beginning when the heroine, Claire, an unassuming, quiet teen with nothing much interesting happening in her day-to-day life, is visited by her best friend from middle school. After that, this book compels you to find out what will happen with Claire, her boyfriend, Steve, and her best friend, the myste ...more

I listened to the audio book. Claire, the main character, has not had it easy in this book. Her best friend, Olena, appears and disappears in Claire's life. I enjoyed the narrator in this audiobook. It, for me, made the book come to life more in my mind. The book had some interesting twists and turns and the plot was fun to read. I had a good adventure in this book with the characters. * I received this book from the author---this is my honest review*

This was an good read. I thought that the characters needed more development. Also, I found myself not relating to the characters that much either. There were some parts of the book that I wanted to rush through because they made the book boring. I wish there was more suspense and action. Overall, it was an okay read.

Unlike Dana Burley's 'Hearts To Follow' series, this was something of a political thriller, which came as a surprise to me. In spite of having some predictable twists, this was a gripping novel that made for engrossing reading and would appeal to fans of spy novels as well as teen romance.

After a five year hiatus, Claire's best friend just randomly shows up out of the blue. Moments after reuniting, a dead guy is found in the bathroom.
Stabbed 23 times.
And Claire's bestie is the prime suspect.

From there, Claire begins a worldwind adventure unraveling the hidden secrets behind the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster.

Ms. Burkey did an excellant job weaving fact into fiction and I am happy to have learned about a disaster I had no idea about before reading this story. The book coud definitly
I won the audiobook version from I really didn't like the narration of the book, and that probably changed by feelings about the story overall. Claire was just an awful character. The way she was narrated made her sound like a total idiot most of the time. She spoke in a shy juvenile voice when Claire was the one talking, but voiced all the other characters with strength. Maybe this wouldn't have bothered me so much if Claire has shown growth throughout the book, but she didn't ...more

I received this audiobook in exchange for my review.

Dana Burkey’s Locket Full of Secrets was my first audiobook in a while, and at first I wasn’t quite into it when I started it—possibly because I wasn’t a fan of the narrator, but she grew on me. Also when I did get into the book, it was difficult to stop listening.

Plot Synopsis:

High school senior Claire’s best friend Olena reappears after mysteriously leaving for four years with no contact. Now that Olena has returned, Claire has more questions
"Keeping secrets from me was keeping me safe. Well, at least safer than the alternative."

Secrets, secrets are no fun. Secrets, secrets hurt someone. Yup! That's definitely true here.

Locket Full of Secrets is a YA suspense novel mixing friendship, betrayal, and the coverup of the catastrophic events in Chernobyl.

Claire, our main character, is good friends with Olena, but Olena always seems to be hiding something from her. While at college, Claire meets Steven. They have a connection, develop a fr

*I received a free audiobook copy of this novel from the author and this has in no way affected my review.*

This book was okay but it wasn't my favorite Dana Burkey book. My first issue was with the narrator. I didn't like her for some reason and she made it hard to tell when a chapter ended or a flashback started. She would just continue on after a few seconds from the present into a flashback and it threw me off. My next semi-issue was the whole Claire/Steven relationship. At the beginning of t

Filled with Suspense!

Dana Burkey’s Locket Full of Secrets is a fictional tale of mystery around the Chernobyl Nuclear disaster, narrated through the voice of two high-school friends, Claire Santori and Olena Kozak.

From the day they met Claire and Olena hit it off instantly. But one day, she leaves town abruptly with her mother, offering Claire no explanation and an early birthday present. Months later, Claire opens it to discover that Olena had given her a pretty locket that belonged to her, wh

Locket Full of Secrets is a new direction for author Dana Burkey. This NA suspense is fast paced and filled with history and international intrigue. The premise of the story is based on the author’s fascination with the 1986 Chernobyl disaster.

The main characters, Claire, Olena and Steven are slowly developed throughout the telling of the story. I would have liked much more information on Claire as she should have bee

I received a free pdf version of this book in exchange for my honest review, and I am very glad I did. Going into the book I was a little wary of the book because I have never read anything else by this author but in the long run it really was a great book.

The book is told from the point of view of Claire, in different parts of life, as she goes on the journey of a lifetime with her best friend and boyfriend to solve a mystery that could change the world.

I've been a fan of Dana Burkey for a while and was excited for this audio book, and I quite enjoyed it.
At first I found it a bit hard to get into despite the interesting plot involving Chernobyl. However towards the end of the book I wanted to listen to more and more (due to the action and answers) so that hooked me.

Based on the description and even the first 5 chapters I thought this book was going to go one way, and instead it went a totally different way! I really enjoyed the characters and also the action that occurred through the whole story. Everyone was believable, and sounded like it could honestly happen! There were a lot of things I did not see coming, both with the plot and the characters. I think that was the thing I liked the most. So, I gave this book a rating of 3 stars because I really did like the plot of the story but there was just something missing. At times it felt like I was just "reading" a story instead of being part of the adventure. I don't know if it was the characters themselves or the style of writing, but it fell flat. I am not knocking the book down at all and did find it enjoyable especially when I felt part of the suspense in the chase during their trip in Europe. I feel like I needed the story to be mo ...more

I got this book from the author for free and LOVED it! I love Steven, want to be Claire, and want a best friend like Olena for sure! I feel like the whole thing played out like a movie, and it was cool to see the way the story went in so many different ways I was not expecting. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen next, something totally out of left field would blind side me! Super cool! I wish there was even more, but I feel like it also works out it is. This book is definitely a suspense novel. From the moment I began reading to the beginning of the epilogue I was thrown into action of three young adults as though I was right by their side through all of the events. I did have have a lot of issues with Claire being so easy to go along with Olena and her decisions for the entire group without questioning, we should teach our young teens to be more assertive and not so quick to follow the crowd, but it is fiction so that will excuse it this time.
